      Hey man yes the cost of a stand this size is around $1000 give or take what you add on to it. For example I got smooth front and side facing pieces which cost a little more. You can customize the build to your taste and the price will be according to that. I love it and for sure I would keep using these type of stands.

    Good lookin stand!! Great idea with the car vinyl, I used a powder coated extrusion but I think yours looks cleaner.
    I used AluFab for my extrusion, they were great too I'd recommend reaching out to them if you're looking to save some cost

    Stand looks great. I've been using a FT stand for a 180 for over a year and it's awesome. The outer flat side is a nice upgrade. Two upgrades I did with mine were to add FT 45x45x90 triangle braces for additional racking support. I also got some of the Tnut cable management hooks.
    @j's reefs do they sell the brackets you mounted the top with? I custom made some, but would be nice to just buy prefabs.

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I’ll have to look into the cable management hooks myself.
      Yes they do sell the corner brackets on their site. If you get them make sure you choose with hardware so you get the fasteners as well. 👌

      @@jsreefs5576 the cross cable binders is what I used.

      @flashkan So I googled, "Tnut cable management hooks" and I saw a huge array of different things. Could you be more specific? It sounds really cool.

    I know this is a few years late, i'm just starting to look at extruded alloy as a stand, but i'm just wondering how FT set up the weight distribution test in Solidworks?? As glass doesn't flex anywhere near as much as alloy, i dont understand how their finite element analyses (weight distribution test) could flex so much with a fixed weight on top of the stand?? Love the stand though!!

    Very nice stand. What type of panels did you use for the top and bottom? Anthony helped me design a stand for my 180g.

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. For the top and bottom I used a premium wood panel from Lowe’s. Pretty inexpensive, I think the sheet was $39 for a 4x8. Anthony is great!

    What is your plan in regards to preventing scratching of the acrylic? I know you mentioned before you had some methods/ideas on how to go about preventing damage. This is my only hesitation regarding acrylic tanks.

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now I just plan to be very careful. Little things like aquascaping outside of the tank will go a long way. Also not leaving your algae scraper in the tank helps. You can prevent from letting algae grow on the scraper pads and potentially scratch the tank.

    Curious what Circulating pumps are you going to run? I see in your control panel you have the AI controller. Are you going to run the Nero 5’s?

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A stand this size would cost you around $1000 depending on what accessories you add on.

  • @robertfowler2115
    @robertfowler2115 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    what was the cost of the stand if you dont mind sharing?

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cost of a stand this size would cost around $1000 but because these are custom every build is different. Shipping was about $100. It’s more expensive than diy but the great thing is I won’t need a new stand for a long time unless I do something crazy like upgrade. Lol!

    You’re not using the AI anymore?!

    • @jsreefs5576
      @jsreefs5576  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as of right now. I’ve got a new light that I’m going to test out. This tank is 30” front to back so I think I would need about 8 primes to get good coverage. I wanted to try and keep the light sleek looking. We’ll see how it goes!
