Outside of the latest and greatest office version that my work uses, I've been working off of Microsoft student office 2016 that I scraped together some pocket lint for back in university. By pure coincidence, I heard that Home Office 2024 had released recently - a much welcomed and long overdue upgrade. I imagine I won't need to update again for another decade, haha.
What is the major differences between Microsoft Office 2021 and Microsoft Office 2024? I am starting to think many software companies and hardware companies like CPU makers make very small tweaks to justify the prices. If we are talking differences between Word 95 vs Office 2024, yes its a huge difference, but between Word 2021 and word 2024? I am not too sure lol.
Office 2024 is merely a snapshot of Microsoft Office at a given point in time (whenever they decided to package it up as a 'new' version for sale). So by the time it is actually available, it is behind the MS365 version. The difference is that MS365 incurs a never ending monthly subscription fee and the minute you stop, all your applications cease to work and you can no longer use any of your files whereas Office 2024 is a one time fee and you can use the software for as long as you wish. No, there has been no change on the file size limitation in any version. You can either use multiple backends or switch to an alternate RDMS to get around the issue.

Could you tell me if Access 2024 still has the older browser control or if your HTML editor will work with the new Edge browser control? I thought Access was going the way of the Dodo a while back, then they invested in it, a bit. Then this. Then they're killing VBA slowly (Outlook first)... How long can Access continue without a web version.... Next they're disabling ActiveX controls by default. I just don't know anymore. What I do know is it is a mess. No central focus, lots of bugs with every new feature which they never completely address. Most features that are released are incomplete and take years to 'complete', just look at the 'Modern Charts'. Also, if you look at various usergroup videos and blog postings, you'll notice turnover within the Dev Team and Product Management, so a lot of lost knowledge there which also hurts progress. So much wasted potential, so poorly managed (I don't know if that's at the product level or upper management), underfunded & understaffed, ... How much longer will this keep going on for? Your guess is as good as mine!

I don't have firsthand knowledge, but according to support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/what-s-new-in-office-2021-43848c29-665d-4b1b-bc12-acd2bfb3910a Co-authoring was available in Word, Excel & PowerPoint (but want available in the LTSC edition) They also mention the autosave feature lower in the article.
I'd start by reviewing: support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/what-s-new-in-excel-2024-for-windows-and-mac-faee26b6-ad74-40a8-9304-aa6db716553f which seems to indicate only the New LAMBDA function.
I think TH-cam block URLs except for video creators, but you could try being creative when posting it (omit http www, add a few spaces etc), it might work, but no guarantees.

If MS wants us to pay extra for their Access 2024 version, we must ask the questions (1) what new features are in Access 2024 Stand alone that would make it worthwhile? (2) Is this stand-alone compatible with older MS Office Pro bundles? (3) Upon purchase of Access standalone 2024, during its installation will it step on its older version in the previous bundle? I suspect not, I suspect we will have two versions co-installed and get a whole new round of bugs just from the dual install Thank you for your reasearch and presentation. Co-installation hasn't been a good idea since Office 2007. It used to be super easy and reliable to do, but now you should use VMs to segregate editions. Backwards compatibility used to be Access' biggest feature, this is no longer true. Thus, there are no guarantees of compatibility between versions especially moving forward. Now you get blank sections or files that you simply can't open. You can no longer open older files without having access to intermediary versions of Access to perform the file format conversion. New, worthwhile features... That's always a matter of opinion. As one person already started, most people could still simply use Office 97 for what they actually do. In the case of Access specifically, I haven't seen any real worthwhile new features in 10-20 years. The only one that might be of interest is the new SQL Editor, but that isn't even part of Office 2024 and has been pulled from testing because of issues.

Yes, this omission of Access from all consumer editions of Office 2024 is quite distributing. This once again shows the importance Microsoft actually places on Access.
great to know windows has intentionally screwed over its consumer base once again. I needed access on the Home & Business. how can you offer a bare bones suite and even call it home and "Business"?
I know there's a preview program, but that isn't a perpetual licence, it's just a trial. And LTSC is not for consumers, just companies through volume licensing.

Office 2024 is a snapshot in time of MS365. So in reality, if you're running MS365 current channel, then you already have Office 2024 and probably more as you get feature updates which Office 2024 does not get. For perspective, 180$ is a one time cost vs. 7$ is a monthly subscription fee for the rest of your life. When you stop paying the monthly fee, you have nothing and can't use any of your Office files anymore. With a perpetual version (..., Office 2021, Office 2024, ...) it is yours for your life. But in your case, with MS365 already, Office 2024 is of no value to you unless you wish to get out of monthly fees, but from an application, feature perspective you have the best, most up-to-date version available.
