      Do you guys ever ask why Africa hasn't truly asked for compesation from their european colonizers? Because despite the huge damage to non-western world, the West is still strong today. So they can get away with their crime. 21st century is the one of China/India. 22nd will be Africa's. Africa should do something against those colonizers when the time comes.

      No more humanitarian aid or generous cooperation programs for countries that are inundated with hateful anti western propaganda. Let them be enslaved by China or spiral into their own regional dysfunction & ethnic violence, likely aided by Russian meddling... Modern individualized countries should focus cooperation more among themselves and only coddle sane developing nations that aren't obnoxious.

    Africa should never forget that France bombed Libya while a "No Fly Zone" discussion was being discussed at the UN. Sarkozy beat the British to it. A reward for the help given him in setting his potential rival for presidency ip while the latter was in the US. Africa should get rid of all European involvements and re-take lands that the former colonialists took.

      Africa needs to take more accountability for itself and fix its own problems instead of blaming everything on others and rarely showing any appreciation for outside assistance. The world was more brutal in the past, we should keep trying to move towards a better future, but that more generous modernity isn't guaranteed.

      @@assertivekarma1909 okay what about right now French nuclear company Areva paid for abductions, armed militia and bribed officials. Niger is one of the poorest nations on earth yet they currently supply 1/3 of France's electricity.
      It also NO control of its money and France forces them to store HALF of their national wealth in Paris. France has the ability to stop Niger entering a trade deal with a foreign country. They are also forced to use a currency that is printed and controlled from Paris. Their national budget is tightly controlled by France. It is a nation in ABJECT poverty that is UNIMAGINABLE.
      Niger is also home to the biggest drone base in the world.

      @@assertivekarma1909 The only way forward for any nation in the world is for politicians to secure the interests of their own people's over and above getting fat with wealth. The political landscape has become a career, every nation should have terms in place of no more than 4 years and all politicians must be rotated every 4 years meaning that no one person gets to stay in politics for longer than 4 years. Here in NZ politicians get financial benefits for life, such as discounted fuel, discounted travel etc while, police, firemen, and soldiers who serve overseas get a pat on the back and comment of 'Well done". Politicians all over the world are corrupt in one way or another and they are the cause of hardships. Yes I agree Africa needs to fix it's own problems, but to do that first you must remove the corrupt politicians and put in ones who will work to benefit the people and not themselves, then you need to form a united Africa that is all African nations moving beyond past tensions and uniting under the banner of peace and prosperity, then you have to value life, life in a lot of countries means nothing, when you have nothing life means nothing hence so much atrocities being committed around the world. This is what the western powers do not want for Africa politically. If Africa became a 'United States of Africa', it would be a powerful player in the world becoming an economic and possibly military superpower, this is why the west like France, U.S and the E.U will always interfere with politics in Africa because they do not want that. So it is not a matter of Africans blaming others because they are correct to do so, it is the west fault. And what outside assistance do you refer to? Infrastructure? Most of the videos I see most roads are still dirt? Why? Is there free health care available? Can they have a govt paid operation if needed? Or do they have to beg, borrow or steal money to pay for it? I wouldn't call it outside assistance but outside interference.

    • @robdahobbit1418
      @robdahobbit1418 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Africa should not forget that Gaddafi wanted a united Africa and was working toward it so they could move away from the U.S dollar, but the west did not want that and so instigated his down fall and proceeded to bomb Libya under the guise of protecting its citizens. This was not only France but NATO itself. The name NATO should be changed to NAMO ( North Atlantic Military Organization ), because it has become an organization bent on dominating the world under the pretext of protecting democracy. I agree Africa needs to take control of its interest and force companies to pay the true value of the resources it steals, oil, gas, and minerals. Once they do that and eliminate corrupt politicians then African peoples can truly prosper.

    You don't even have to look to history to understand African resentment for France. A single data point is illustrative: To this day, Former French colonies in West Africa are obliged pay 85% of their foreign reserves amounting to $500 billion every year to the French treasury. The only access these countries have to their own money is through loans which they have to repay with interest.

    • @controversial1994
      @controversial1994 2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      @@frankcrozier2592 I agree in principle but wish it was that simple for those countries. For starters, France has the repeatedly demonstrated capacity to destroy them in short order by;
      1. imposing crushing sanctions on their already struggling economies,
      2. calling in loans that will drain their meagre forex reserves - making it impossible to buy/import any products from anywhere in the world, immediately force them into default, & consequently crush their economies,
      3. exclude them from the CFA monetary & economic union with the other 7 states in the region, with devastating consequences for the population,
      4. funding & arming a coup or rebel groups,
      5. engineering regime change through funding & training ‘civil society’ groups (color revolution)
      This is largely why West Africans (outside the elites) harbour so much resentment for France in West Africa. It has less to do with historical colonisation & more to do with French neo-colonialism! I wish the French people would take the time to try to understand this iteration of colonialism. Its more nuanced but as insidious & equally devastating in its consequences.

WL did a piece on how France exploits African workers to get that nuclear power you cherish so much, so I won't have delve further into that.
      After that, look at the predatory loans your IMF(a western institution) used to debt trap Africa since the 1960s when it gained faux independence. The IMF only restructures debt if the country adopts neoliberal policies, which like I said, results in foreign companies extracting resources for pennies on the dollar, France is one of those countries.

While France was busy stealing from its former colonies that it still treats like colonies, Portugal was doing bilateral deals with nations, as one should in the 21st century and post colonial era. So now if the French want Algerian gaz they can ask the Portuguese government if it minds extending the pipeline for a just fee! As a European woman, I never understood how deep the colonial grievances were and still are. It was only after I became Muslima and married a Moroccon man, that I became concious of the real truth.
    My father in law is more than 90 years old and has experienced the colonial time. He met the French colonisers himself when he was a child, and he still remembers their brutality. If they suspected one person of showing hostility to the French soldiers, they would start shooting on everyone in the village. Once they took his dad apart. He was terrorised that he wouldn't see his dad again, without a reason. A soldier gave him a candy when he had to wait on the side of the road. He was so afraid that it was poisoned (in his mind it would suit them doing this) so he didn't accept it. His father was released again (apparently they only wanted some information), but it illustrates well how much the common people feared the French colonisers. They had the worst name, and still do.
    France, and all colonising countries, should finally admit how bad their history has been, and not try to lessen their bad behaviour by saying "yes, we killed some people, but we also brought civilisation, factories, trains..."
    Nobody sees getting a factory as a worthy compensation for the loss of loved ones but the sick minded.
    I am appalled by the way we learned history lessons at school and never got a grip on how ferocious we behaved in other countries. Never learned how the World Bank is - still today - expecting African countries to repay debts that European colonisers made in their countries.
    European countries send some missionary aid but they get back seven times more money than they spend. They still keep Africa poor and unable to progress. That's how they want it. Europe should be a beaken of civilisation, and the African countries should be poor and thanking Europe on their knees for all the tidbits they get.
    Africa is growing up. And Africa will tell another tale of history.

      @@jillybe1873The British empire cannot be exonerated too quickly. It has also done a lot of evils to humanity especially against Africans and Indians. But I would let Indians talk about British brutalities and atrocities perpetrated against them. How dare the British media and talking heads say that yes, Britain did some bad things across Africa where it unfortunately colonized but also it brought civilization to those colonies? First of all how could an uncivilized Britain bring civilization to a people who were living peacefully in their villages and towns and cities? How did the British bring civilization to Africa when there were libraries and even universities in Africa before the Europeans arrived? A proper apology is due. As for reparations I am not sure we need any. We are richer than the West even after years of pillage and plundering of our resources. What we want is hands of Africa.

    The difference between France and Britain :-
    a) de Gaulle "France cannot be France without greatness"
    France has had a chip on its shoulder since at least 1840 (the Eastern crisis)
    And things only got worse - 1870, WW1, and Vichy France.
    b) Britain has the soldi parliamentary tradition, with MPs supporting Indian independence 1947, and Home Rule for Ireland 1922, and African independence.
    Even during the American Independence war 1775-83, MPs said that the war was a waste - that it would make no difference to the British economy.
    And that was correct. Even during the war British trade went through Canada
    and nothing changed.

    • @vinm300

      @siphothenjwayo1780 Total nonsense
      The British parliament always expressed views in support of independence for Ireland, India, and later African nations.
      1890s Home Rule for Ireland split the Liberals - part of them joined the Conservatives to become the Conservative & Ulster Unionist party
      Likewise MPs supported India
      Jinnah & Nehru both wanted their nations to follow the British example - secular democracies
      Russia is an empire : the nations it conquered it annexed into a huge empire
      Even today Russian TV boasts that it wants to retake Kazakhstan & Kyrgyzstan
