    Great video. Thank you for sharing a batter that had a tiny bit of seepage. Good to see and understand this doesn’t have to be a failed bar.

    Yes! Loving the new format. Actually starting to comprehend terminology of soap speak. Now if I can just remember all the tips when I'm in the midst of a pour, that would be great. HA!

    Another great video! I also put sugar in my lye solution, however, I dissolve it in the water before I add the lye and it works fine that as well :) Love how a small addition can create so many luscious bubbles!!

      We’re big Bioware fans around here. The Mass Effect series is one of our one true loves. We’re currently enjoying Starfield - nice to see Bethesda take on that space frontier.

    Another beautiful bar 😄👏🏻 I got advice from a WSP rep that problem scents could be used in hot process to side-step acceleration/ricing/separation issues. Do you think that is reasonable?
    Thank you Ms Pontoon Captain! 😂 😁
    Edited to say: Yes! The new format is great. I feel so organized just by proxy.

    Why should or when should we use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar?

    Does anyone know what to use to get a scent like Fels-Naptha?

  • @she_designs9041

    What kind of canola oil? Is it the cooking kind?

  • @iKit306
    @iKit306 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ooh. Question on the powdered sugar: do you use a specific one? I recall reading someplace that some powdered sugars have an anti-caking agent. Is that something we should look for if we want to add sugar? If we want to avoid that, is regular grain sugar an option or does it not dissolve well enough? Have you tried powdered honey? I saw that on one site; WSP I think. How about brown sugar? Would the extra molasses be a problem?

    • @courtneygraham6719
      @courtneygraham6719 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maybe that would be a good experiment series, trying different sugars and doing a lather test. Also, I'd dig a series on different milks.

    • @granniesilver781
      @granniesilver781 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. Powdered sugar has cornstarch in it. I have always used regular granulated sugar. Dissolved completely before I add the lye to the water.

    I had a scent that was completely leaking out of the soap when I in molded it and when trying again with same scent no leaking this time I wonder if this has to do with mix the FO cause first time I just hand mix with a whisk which was a bit big for the container(didn’t have a lot of room to move around) 2nd time I used my stick blender to mix FO but hand mix my colorants

    • @tyler23burt
      @tyler23burt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Tim M I see it all depends on how well a FO behaves then thanks 😁

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are definitely some fragrances that don’t blend well and would work better with a stick as opposed to a whisk. Generally I do use a stick on a fragrance oil that seeped in the first batch to ensure it is well incorporated. Have fun!

    So can we talk about the seepage in a video... I have had it happen in a couple of batches and only I have tried those bars and we're fine, pH test was at 9. But is it safe? Is it trash or rebatchable?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      pH at nine is good, and as long as you don’t see any active seepage spots after you’ve given them a rinse, they’re good to go. Really the only issue of concern is undiluted scent on the skin. A very tiny issue that’s unlikely to injure you, but one just the same.

      @Tim M I tried doing a clamshell pour with it. Haven't cut the bars yet but the whole time I was swimming in how wonderful it is. If you're an outdoorsy person that likes sage I would recommend that in a heartbeat
