@@hollowmade it takes balls to keep the same logo for a nearly a dang century! We're like an anchor, or some big rock somewhere that's too heavy to move!
I wonder if Buffalo’s reverse retro would’ve sold better if it was blue instead of white? Aside from the Buffaslug, they haven’t done too bad in regards to jerseys/logos
As a Kings fan, our only miss was the home plate jerseys we just changed out of. It’s not bad, it’s just boring. It’s like the generic NHL jersey your pro wears until he gets drafted in the Be A Pro mode from the NHL games. Hate that that logo is what was worn during our cup wins 😭
Them winning in those jerseys is what makes them so iconic now. I didn't think the logo was that bad. It was like C+ or a B, but the jersey itself was easily a C or worst. Definitely bland as you put it, but winning the Cup with them made me love them.
I think that the 80's Leafs look probably gets extra hate because of it's association with Harold Ballard Also, I think that one thing that made us all want Sharks merch in the 90's was the teal, people who weren't around in the 90's don't understand how much teal was like catnip to us, especially teal sports jerseys. A few years later the Charlotte Hornets would also capitalize on this with the jackets that were EVERYWHERE in the mid 90's
As a wings fan, I totally agree with it's spot to a nonfan. I also will die on the hill that it should never change(as a 1st and second). It's had very minor alterations since the Logo was set, but it's never lost it's feel and while I love (and sometimes hate) our thirds and outdoor jersies, if they ever change our first drastically, or redesign it, im not sure I could handle it. It's just perfect the way it is for most wings fans? I can't describe it. Loved your ranking!! Always love your vids Shannon, thank you for what you do
That Leafs jersey - known as the Ballard era, and the logo was just kinda a boring Leaf. That uni from the 70s up until 1992 (and it looked dated to me even in its final year, 91-92) The more stylized leaf they have now is far far better and the removal of the shoulder stripe gives the Leafs a cleaner whiter look. I wish they changed to the 31 pointed Leaf when they updated the jerseys for 92-93 I remember it took me so long as a kid to realize the Canucks stick in a rink logo was really...a very fat C The 90s Cup Patches were absolute beauties with great details and so much better than what they have now One thing I love about my Devils is that their jerseys were solid going back to the KC Scouts days. Scouts and Rockies had great uniforms during their short histories
I love the alternate logo for Columbus with the cannon, but not their current, flag-themed, regular one (as seen on the whiteboard). It looks like any other generic corporate logo that tries to use patriotism to get us to buy something. The Minnesota Wild being "in the middle" for their jerseys is very on-brand for the franchise.
If there is one thing I'm confident about with the Kings, it's their jerseys. They never seem to miss. At least with their mainstream jerseys. I need to see more purple in the future with their thirds.
Coyotes retro from CCM is incredible. It's one of the few jerseys I use regularly, and everybody asks me where I got it and from which team is it. It's so different from everything else and super stylish.
Below are my 3 tiers of teams with the best jersey histories. Within each tier there is no particular ranking order; they are simply lumped together. Elite: Sharks, Habs, Hawks, Leafs, Sabres, and Kings. Above average: Jets and Blues. Standard: Rangers and Wings.
You should try ranking the best/your favorite jersey from each team and seeing where they stack up. Could do the same for least favorite/worst. Thanks Shannon
I don't understand the hate for the Canes black jersey either. I think it is one of the better jersey's in the league and it makes more sense than the 'spiraling' hurricane logo, as well as the single warning flag they had as shoulder patches for all those years. Plus sneaking in the NC outline between the two flags... It's the best jersey they have had.
I’d flip Florida and Edmonton. The list was fair and more or less what I would agree with, but totally disagreed on those two. I absolutely love Edmonton’s third kit, I think the burnt orange on midnight blue is such eye candy. Conversely, I maintain that Florida’s vibe (meant as respectfully as I can be) more closely resembles a minor league baseball team than an NHL franchise. Just doesn’t fit with the NHL vibe and culture for me.
I've always felt like the Rangers' primary jerseys are kind of lacking; if teams were still wearing actual sweaters I'd get it, but they just don't really work for me in the modern era. That said, they've had some really solid outdoor game variants over the years (including that 2012 Winter Classic one), some of which I've thought could work better as regular looks for them.
I know this is all subjective, but Blue Jackets being ranked second-to-last hurt a little Also, fun fact, the Flyers stopped using orange jerseys in both 2001-02 and 2007-08, only to bring them back in the next season both times
The Habs’ jerseys are #1, by a long shot. Set them aside as the most iconic, the best ever, for all time, then put the Jets in the top 5 where they belong, and then rank the other 30 any old whichaways.
Sports team uniforms started down the road towards today being merely products/costumes back in the early 80s, when NBA logo T-shirts became a hip fashion statement with male teenagers. 40 years later......a billion dollar market of superpriced merch, regularly tweaked with minor (and occasionally massive) changes, sold to those same people, now with kids. Les Glorieux sweaters....in baby blue ?!?! Nothing is sacred. Except money.

My great uncle lived in Anaheim in the early 90s and he gifted me his old inaugural season Mighty Ducks of Anaheim tshirt. Am I allowed to wear it or do I frame it?? For reference I’m a Bruins fan
I worked with a girl that was from Dallas. She showed up to work one day in a shirt that said Dalas. One L. I said did you notice that it isn't spelled right? No, but I like it so it's fine. So whenever I see that wordmark, that's who I think of.
I can't blame you for where you place the canes without the whalers jerseys involved, I took hate that away jersey. I like their home but that away jersey drags them way down.
Flyers 2012 winter classic jersey is my favorite jersey ever and second best is arizonas purple jersey😁(toronto and boston are way too high on your list😆)
It's your list, but I don't agree with the Kings at #1. Chicago would have been my choice. There is a CLUTTERED history in that King's history that just can't get them to one in my mind.
Ngl I’ve always hated the Habs and Hawks jerseys, probably my least favorite of the original 6. Wings is probably the best, Rangers/B’s tied for 2nd best, Leafs 4th
I have a feeling the whole "Utah is an expansion team🙄" nonsense from the league is just a way for them to wipe WHA history and roots from the league where they can...ultimately those are the origins of the Utah team(and they signed Hull). But the NHL is now saying all of that stays in AZ...but they have about the same chance of being revived as the Brooklyn Americans
Wow. For me, who grew up a major Leafs fan in the 70s and 80s, I have the exact opposite opinion. The 70s/80s Maple Leafs jersey is amongst the nicest of all time in the NHL. The current logo and striping looks boring and outdated.

Washington should also swith to the screaming eagle jerseys. The blue one shown in this video is amazing, just take away the "Capitals" script in the bottom and make it primary.

My observations: Anaheim would be tied with Utah with zero good jerseys in their history, but Utah would rank higher as they have zero bad jerseys. I like Philly jerseys, iconic colour scheme and logo. No other team gets away with orange like the Flyers do. I would rank Seattle much higher, they have yet to wear a bad jersey. Only Seattle and Nashville have ever produced good navy blue jerseys. Dallas get minus points for wordmarks and that certain jersey. I like New Jersey in red & black, but red & green was a better look. I like San Jose's logo & colours, but I never got the triangle outline as part of the logo. Montreal would be my No.1. The whole look just screams hockey. As a piece of artwork Chicago's logo is well designed, but what it stands for is totally abhorrent to me (not buying the army BS). They would rank below Anaheim & Utah. LA would be my No.2. Lots of great designs and colour schemes, but they do not have the iconic look that Montreal has.
