Our mailman was constantly drunk with beer cans up to the windows for twenty five years from the 60s to to the 90s. Never had an accident, which would be impressive even if he wasn't drunk. 🤷♂️
April 1976. That corresponds to the 770th anniversary of Genghis Khan beginning his rule, and the finding of Howard Hughes will, which was fake. Both topics are mentioned in the monologue.
Carol and her sister Nina went to North Park High in Chicago. I knew a few guys who went there and you never saw so many tougues hanging out when the sisters would go to the local hangouts. Mostly they were always taking dance or other lessons after school so they weren't seen often. Gettng aroused just remembering and I'm 83.
I could see immediately that Lynde was super nervous…who wouldn’t be following the history of the guests on and the aura of the show. He was coming into a show that could make or break people, and had the greatest host of all time. Then there was, I’m sure he was aware, of big names that really hurt their careers by bombing there from either being bad, or even just one little callous or ignorant sounding comment. Lynde was a classic and did fine. But he had his arms clenched way up on his chest. A dead giveaway that he was nervous as hell as he said. And saying it started to help. Plus the casual plush way everyone was on the show itself. He was a goofy comedian. And think about competing with the likes of Dangerfield, and Benny, and Groucho Marx, and Dean Martin and Bob Hope, and…..
lynde was a good talker and told good stories, why he's nervous I have no idea. His assessment of Carson's first start being shaky is incorrect in the spectrum of history.
See my comments above. The Tonight show move to Los Angeles on April 30th or May 1st 1976. That matches up with Genghis Khan's anniversary of taking over, and the finding of Howard Hughes fake will.
Johnny was the best!
Carson was the master. Nobody could adlib like he did. I love Ed laughing as the jokes bombed.
That comb over is a work of art.
The Marlin Perkins’ joke was great!!!
Watching this makes things seem like things are normal
Exactly. 👏👏👏
Well put.
Exactly why I'm just watching old shows at this point, I'm 30
In that part of Texas. The humidity is lethal. During a certain time of year, just finding yourself around it can cost you your life.
i was in Korea with a young fella whos name was Igo and we always said where ever Igo's we goes too. true story.
The writers sabotaged him each and every time, and he knew it was magic, so it continued. As he was dying out there, Ed LOVED it, and so did I.
The 9/10ths joke is hilarious!
Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Every violation he mentioned described Phillis Diller. Every one of them.
I’ve noticed in these old episodes that drunk driving is talked about so nonchalantly.
Because I was a point on license and about $50

May 1, 1976? 4th anniversary of move to west coast, May 1, 1972. But May 1st is a Saturday in 1976 so maybe this is Monday the 3rd.
Why can’t you play the Poe in there and announcements? It’s like the best part
the end?

He's great as Rodger on American Dad, so it's okay.
Johnnys comb over looks so weird with white hair hair over the dark hair.
What is the date of this show?
April 30, 1976
You're putting a classic show up, people want to know the air date don't you think?
