I paid a small fortune for elementary education courses at a well regarded private college and learned none of this or seemingly anything. These videos have taught me so much.
Your videos are AMAZING! I only wish I'd found them sooner. My test (Foundations of Reading) is in one day. Your videos have brought me to a much higher level than I was with my other study materials. I will absolutely share your site with anyone I encounter needing to take any of these tests!!!! Thank you!!!!!! I feel like you have saved me (and I haven't even taken the test yet)!!
Hi there. Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that the videos have been helpful for you. Best of luck on your Foundations of Reading test-you've got this! Remember to stay calm and confident. Your support means a lot, and we appreciate you sharing our resources with others. 😊 ~Kathy Customer Support at Kathleen Jasper LLC
Hello Kathleen how are you? Do you have any book for NewYork teaching certification and also constructive responses. I love your videos. Thank you so much for helping us ❤
Hi there. Thank you for your kind words. However, we do not have test preparation for that exam. We focus on the praxis exams. There are many similarities among teacher certification exams regardless of state. However, our materials are aligned with the ETS exam blueprints and test specifications for the Praxis exams. hi kathleen! for potential phonics responses, you mentioned working on syllable combinations. i haven't read you book in its entirety yet, but isnt that a phonological awareness skill? i see in your book in the phonics section where it discusses syllable types, but i guess i always clumped syllables in with phonemic and phonological. i guess the difference for phonics would be now the students can see the words with the syllables?
Great question. You can work on syllables with both phonological awareness and phonics skills. For example, if I said break up the word apple by syllable sounds, students would say ap-ple. They wouldn’t have to see the word or write the word. But if I wrote the word Apple on the board and asked, “where do we split this word up by syllables?” And the students said, between the two ps, that would be phonics. Any time we look at a word and its letters to decode it, either by syllables, affixes (which are also syllables), or other units, we are using phonics. Also, because syllables tend to have more than one sound in them, it would be phonological awareness not phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is breaking words up by individual sounds. Phonological awareness: break up the word apple by syllable sounds. Ap-ple Phonemic awareness: how many sounds in the word apple? A-pp-le (3 sounds). Thanks for watching, and thank you for using my book. 😊
Hi there. Yes, metacognition strategies can significantly enhance comprehension across various subjects by encouraging learners to be aware of their thought processes, monitor their understanding, and adjust their strategies as needed. ~Kathy Customer Support at Kathleen Jasper LLC
