I recently saw an interview where he shares about one of his inspirational mentors, Paul Motian. Paul could use space so brilliantly and melodically. This piece is phenomal for lots of reasons, but the journey he goes on, wow, the tension and release, holding the center while all the outer spokes revolve and weave. Hard working genius he is.
Please evolution, give that man two more arms 🙏
One interesting thing I noticed... The area on his snare drum that is showing signs of wear from being hit is about the size of a quarter. He's like a machine.
four years later the wear is the same: it's superhuman: a proof aliens exist (I am sure I have already seen one of his clones somewhere on Sputnik news!)
Unbelievable. It's incredible you can play like this, but what is even more amazing is the musicality of it. This is a cool track. The fact that it is played by one person live with no overdubs is incredible.
God bless Nate Wood. Transcendent playing.
INCREDIBLE! You just nailing the styles I adore, playing all this live! Jazzy, Aphex Twin'ish, Braindance Perfection! I'm so glad I've found your music! Just WOW!
Incredible. Bliss on a boat with the sun shining.
This album is so good.
Eternally grateful for your contributions, Nate.
Please make an album in this vein. THis is the coolest thing because you are showing how simplicity can be powerful and become complicated depending on where you place your notes in terms of timing and melody. So there are many twists and turns, yet you are holding it together with a hypnotic beat. Excellent. I'd buy this if it were programmed or played live, its just plain good music.
Outstanding! Schnauss vibes.
Unbeliveable, simply no words there
Dear Nate! I´m a musician too (in a much lower league than you, to be honest) and in those 50 years of jamming and gigging I never found more inspiration and motivation than I did now in this very clip of you. It´s not the artistic aspect at all (though mostly impressing), it´s the music, this wonderful piece of music and the way you express it. I think I´ve watched all of the youtube stuff with you on bass or drums (or both...!) but this tune tops everything. I thank you for your being and playing! I hope someday I will see you live in Germany! You and the other guys like Donny, Mark, Tim, Jojo, Jason, Panagiotis, Jonathan etc. etc. define the musical style of tomorrow. Bliss on all of you!
These videos are incredible, man. The idea of the one man band is such a novelty, but you've managed transcend the notion of the one man band. These songs are so interesting. If I hadn't seen video along with the audio, I wouldn't imagine one person playing this live. Absolutely incredible. Are you thinking of releasing these songs in any way?
Nicely put...
he states on his website that the album is coming soon
otherworldly! You're a beast Nate!
The legend is back, we were waiting for you
beautiful
The melodic progression sounds so Kneebody!
Beautiful drum-patch!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing! Really shows your ability - and I'm not alone in saying - you've got it in spades!
This is incredible. So glad I just discovered you.
Really love this tune, besides the amazing playing.
Yes!!!!!!
One man vaporwave band
you're a beast!
amaze
Yes
sumptuous
Hooleee cow. I have to have this album. I just hope it's mixed a little better because that SE-02 synth - the dissonant drone - did kind of slather all over everything a bit too much. Otherwise, pure chewing satisfaction.
How in the world do you get that bass drum so dirty? electronic trigger?
Inrcreds.
Ulrich Schnauss meets Morgan Agren. So BA.
BOC meets Squarepusher. Sounds fresh, not derivative.
