Would the heel have more impact? I assume the ankle has some give when kicking with the ball of the foot. Should the hands stay up to guard the chin etc. ?

When facing one enemy as shown in the video putting your hands up doesn’t matter, he put his hands up to put more power into his kick. If you put your hands up right away there shouldn’t be a problem but it’s obviously best to keep them up.

Nice kicks, but I like to use heal so a thug will feel more devastation from the front kick. Front ball is good and faster but less powerful.
