Induction heaters are so cool
Induction heating of rifle brass is neat also.
There is a whole chemical education, with respect to metals' atomic structure; and its' crystalline nature - when heating/cooling. Then, add another 50 or so types of modern ' steel ' and their properties. Could be a two year course.....(old guy)
Could you tell me how long it takes to harden a small sprocket and how much absorbed power does the machine need? I just need an estimate of course

Can some one give the reason why the heat is ditributed so unique in the tip, root and at the flank of the gear. Frequency, the induction ring or somethings else?

How come the fixture spinning the part doesn't get hardened and glow bright red also?
It's farther away from the coil. The energy couples into the first thing it finds. The fixture will probably also get warm but not too much.

Why are there various hardening methods used in various parts?
Heating with laser or induction.. Heating only for the tip of the gear or heating for whole part..
Does every method has it's own proses?

@@AhmadMabruriBBeruri Every material, every steel, will have different atomic organization and composition. Each will respond and change differently to heat treatment. Gears are heat hardened only at the point, so it does not wear, but will have a "softer" inside, so it can absorb impacts without breaking. Swords ate desingned the same way
