To hear Nina w/ Just a trio is the best ! I will keep a look out for that LP. The 3 Kings.. I have to collect them all ! BB and Freddie.. and Albert ! Killer Taste find.. Congrats on that one 👍And Creative Source, I hope to find a well ! Ted Hawkins is the real deal, for sure and what a find with Happy Mondays ! Castanets.. I just listened to "You Are The Blood" I love indie bands, so many good ones to get into !
Nice finds, Dale. I didn’t know any of these until you came onto Ted Hawkins. I picked this up in a lot a while back and have really enjoyed it. Like you say, it’s great picking up records that way as you get to discover albums you wouldn’t choose normally. Some score on the Pills Thrills… fantastic album! If you haven’t already, check out Ted Hawkins’ backstory… guy had it rough! Cheers, Jack
Hi Dale Some nice finds. I don't have any of the albums you showed, which is always a good thing!. The Cascanets sound like my kind of jam, particularly with the Lankum comparison. All the best Rob.
Hi Dale. 800 albums in the inbox? That's not too bad. If you play one of them a week, you'll have caught up in about 2040 ... I tend not to bother much with car boot sales, record fairs, online purchases and used record shops. Charity shops are my weakness ... Nina Simone was at her best live. A mesmerising performer. I love 'Wild Is The Wind' ... Some fabulous finds for £2 or less ... I'm a big fan of a UK emo band called Spy Versus Spy from the late 1990's. I have a CD of their complete discography, and also a CD by a later band with ex-members called Future Adventures. Really impressive and influential stuff. I never realised there was another band with a similar name in the 80's playing power pop with chiming guitars ... Castanets sounds interesting. I'll be giving them a listen on TH-cam. All the best.
Excellent finds Dale. I'm sort of collecting BB King records (in the sense that I always buy them when I see them), but given that I only find one every five years or so it's never likely to be even half-complete. Don't think I've ever seen a Taste album in the flesh. Maybe we all come to the saxophone eventually.
Hi James - I just checked and BB King had just over 50 studio albums I think...you might need to up the frequency...Yes the saxophone will strike eventually...cheers Dale
Lots of bargains there Dale. Stand out for me is the Taste album. That’s great you’ve been tracking it down for a while and it appeared for a great price. I’d imagine it’s quite rare. Also nice been of blues, sone great iconic guitarists there. I was in Winchester today and bought a bunch from Paul Green in the market. Mike
Great stuff Dale. I’ve not bought anything bar 12” single for three months. Just playing stuff I’ve got. Have successfully reversed what possibly was almost an addiction. Love Albert King. Cracking bargain. Never seen that BBK Lp. Love that taste album. Rory showing what a musician he was. I can’t get up early enough for car boots. Cheers fella, Chris
Thanks Chris - I've never felt the need to dive deep into Rory Gallagher's material but I have always enjoyed that album. I often wished I'd stayed in bed on a Sunday - Cheers Dale
Never knew Taste included saxophone in their recordings. At school I had a friend who loved Rory Gallagher so I absorbed a lot of his solo LPs, but not Taste. Nice find. I can’t get to any car boot sales so am always intrigued to see what bargains can be (sometimes) be found.
Hi John - What I didn't appreciate, otherwise I'd have mentioned, was that Rory was the saxophonist himself! Apparently he was pretty accomplished player...cheers Dale
Hi Dale me too good intentions to make lots of videos, to pick up those for pound or two is far more fun than splashing out in shops and fairs. I'm still laid back here too though did pick up a ton from marketplace in the week with disappointing results on the whole. I've never owned pills and thrills as I was buying all the 12"s back in the day for the mixes. OK have a good weekend, Martin.
Hi Martin - Yes random record surprises for cheap is the way I'm going at the moment. I may change it at some point but happy at the moment...cheers Dale
Interesting selections Dale. All kinds of genres. I have seen others show that Rory / Taste album. It is very bluesy. There was so much of that going around back then. I appreciate you sharing them all. Any favorites on your side? Which one did you really like? Rob/Boston
Hi Dale, I'm afraid I can't resist the record fairs (but then we have nowt else here in West Cumbria) - we used to go to just the one every other month (Kendal), but now we go to Windermere which is every month, and Carlisle which has just recently started up again. So sometimes we have 3 in a month - though this month only the one (Windermere tomorrow). So my in box is chock full too. I've wanted to try out some Nina Simone for a while. My friend has just given me a two-fer CD of hers (Forbidden Fruit & Sings Ellington) but I've not yet had a chance to listen to it. I like my electric blues but I have to admit I've never really taken to BB King - too soulful and smooth and not hard enough for me I guess. The Live Taste album is currently sitting in my inbox. Never heard of Castanets, but they sound interesting - will give them a listen. Cheers... Pete
I am secretly jealous of you Pete and miss the record fairs - but I need to stay strong! I will try and get to one in September and I will no doubt visit a few shops when I go on holiday. I hope you enjoy Castanets, cheers Dale
That was a lot of music I have never seen before. I always struggled with BB King. I like my blues dirty, rough with a hard edge and BB was just so smooth. Great guitar player but just never really rocked

Hi JT - I agree the intimate nature of a trio works really well with Nina. I was really happy to discover Ted Hawkins. cheers Dale
Nice finds again - always good to get a bargain !
A bargain sounds better...
Awesome Happy Mondays find. The rest I don't much about 🙃
Hi Brian - yes happy to come across the Happy Mondays album as good to have on vinyl finally...
Nice finds, Dale. I didn’t know any of these until you came onto Ted Hawkins. I picked this up in a lot a while back and have really enjoyed it. Hi Jack - I will check out Ted Hawkin's back story with trepidations. Cheers Dale

2040 Carl? That will make me slow down or stop buying (not!) 😉

Hi Mike - Paul does have lots of good stuff and I often stop for a browse when I'm passing or waiting for my wife. Cheers Dale

Hi Rob - my favourite of that bunch was probably the Ted Hawkins album. Interesting acoustic soul. cheers Dale

Hi Steve - you are not the only one who has commented that BB King is a bit too smooth...
