Never seen this dude before, however, as a partner carrier for Greyhound Bus Lines, (Bee-Line Express, Wichita, KS ) and this guy has hit everything on the head! I could not have explained it better. I am one of those drivers he talks about pulling up to a gas station, or video store and throws your baggage under the bus then jumps back in the seat and takes off. Greyhound should put this dude on payroll and run his ads in station 24/7! Keep up the good work!
GreyhoundGURU, Hi, my name is Robert Carter, I am the driver who replied to your video. I am very impressed with your videos. Watched a few of them, and I must say, you know your stuff. So glad to see someone not just putting Greyhound down, though, they do a good enough job on their own of doing that. Not all are bad though. If you have never heard of Bee-Line Express, we are a regional line that is partners with Greyhound lines, you can see our information by going to www.bee-lineexpress.com. I am actually the person who put this service together after Greyhound pulled their routes out and no longer ran Wichita to Grand Junction, CO, though we just run from the Wichita Greyhound station to the Pueblo, CO Greyhound station. We do that once a day and Wichita to Salina twice a day. You are very, very good at what you do, and I just wanted to say "Thank you" for your service to our companies. Keep up the outstanding work my friend, and anytime you might have any questions I will be more than glad to try to help you with an answer. I literally grew up with Greyhound, back in the day. and have been called an expert in the field, but I try to keep that out of the picture for the most part, as my love is for driving the buses, started when I was 17 and have been at it for 38 years. You have a blessed day my friend. Sorry about the book! lol
Thank you very much for creating such informative videos, I'm going to be traveling in May to visit my best friend who lives three states away, since I'm a college student stuck with a dead end job as a barista, I can't really afford to fly. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos can't wait to see more :)
I always print my Greyhound/Barons Bus tickets at my local library because I do not have a printer at home and I cannot afford one at this time, and the nearest Greyhound/Barons Bus is about a 20 minute car ride from where I live and it does not offer a will call option.
Awesome thank you for making this video I'm moving to Moscow and I'm taking the bus and I'm really nervous and this helped me understand what to do. Thank you
I just got back from Greyhound here in Tallahassee. They do not print out tickets. You use the code you get in your email for bus & transfers if you buy tickets on line. The only tickets printed are for those bought in station. Update required. Going to Morgantown in September so I followed your instructions.
First time getting on the Greyhound. Santa Cruz to Bakersfield (about 7 hours) but before buying the ticket I didn't know you needed an I.D . I have like my school transcripts which has my picture and info. Is that okay? I also have my social security card and my birth certificate. I don't have state ID
Hey, Tim! I didn't buy a checked bag or any so. Just a regular economy ticket and I'm unsure if I need to pay for it? Also, I've bought a print at the home ticket and I'm a bit scared an issue might occur. Do you have any idea?
Its actually a very simple process, I am mexican and payed with my debit card and I had no problem at all so you will be fine just check your hours and make sure they match your things. Buses don't delay at all, at least in Texas.
i learned the best salution just goto 1 of your 7-11 stores but 1st just fallow ur ads bout geting the greyhound ID# when ur done filling out greyhound information show the ID# to the clerk in 7-11 n in bout 2 min u will have ur ticket with u but my concern rit now is bout where on earth on newark bus station i take greyhound cuz it been 2004 since i been thru that parts n wen u come back ur looking back like where am i now pls help so all ik is do i take the trolley to the bus stations where all the buses are in newark or do i hope off the train in newark n head down somewhere if some1 can help thnx u or ig i gota go thru some mess n ask alot of ppl n thats gona be like wO.Ow
I always recommend sitting up near the front. It seems like the trouble makers tend to gravitate to the rear of the bus. Plus if you are sitting up front you are near the driver in case anything goes wrong and it's easier to get his/her attention if you need assistance.
I like sitting in the back so we can all drink some liquor and play music on our speaker then we usually end up arguing and yelling with each other and end up yelling with the bus driver and he ends up pulling the bus over
is there a fee for the greyhound will call? is so how much? this is my first bus trip and I will like to know if there's is any other additional fees. please and thank you.
Word of advice guys, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT tear the tickets off yourself. They are null and void if they are torn If you choose the print at home option DO NOT forget to pack them. The tickets that is, or you may have to purchase new tickets
Is it worth getting the higher priced priority boarding ticket? if everyone boards before you with priority boarding privileges and the bus fills up will you have to wait for the next bus because you only have the cheaper standard ticket?
Most people buy the cheapest ticket they can when riding Greyhound so I don't think you would ever have to worry about a whole busload of people buying Priority boarding tickets and getting on the bus before you. Greyhound usually does a good job of not overselling the seating on their buses, so the chances of you not getting a seat even if you are at the back of the line are slim. Just to be safe you can book your ticket early (like 30+ days in advance) and you will have a boarding number that is fairly low and you should be one of the first people on the bus if the station you are departing from boards by boarding numbers.
i did that and i got the same thing 100 bucks i can take the coachbus usa in itd probably the same prices deducting 10 like for example the place i'm goin to is erie pa i can use both buses but not to spend too much like for the bus the coach it varies depending on were u goin fronm nyc to erie is 90 bus on bus grethound 99 see the difference with coachbus usa plus u can wake up at a decent time and still make the bus but wth greyhound sometimes u woiuld leavw from ya house at different times it would take me 6 hrs give or take traffic
Tim, I'm getting ready for a long trip and feeling anxious. I want to sit up front, AND I want to make sure my luggage gets on the bus. How do I do both?
I try and get to the front of the boarding line so I can get a seat wherever I want, usually the front. Also if you are one of the first people in line to board the baggage handler might be able to put your bags under the bus right then while you are boarding before alot of them pile up. If not, then I recommend getting a seat on the side of the bus where your bag is waiting to be loaded and watching out the window until you see your bag put safely under the bus. This is one of the reasons I always put something colorful or different on my bag to make it stand out so I can see it from a distance if I can't be right there beside it.
I've heard that most of the time they won't print you one at the station just because they are trying to cut down on fraud. That;s why I recommend buying your ticket early and if for some reason you have an issue printing it you will have plenty of time to contact customer service and get the problem resolved.
Back before I moved here to Florida in 2003 I was living in Fresno California and I went on a Greyhound bus with my Special ED Class on a Greyhound bus to Monterey California and on my way home I stopped at Subway and someone Bumped into me and I Dropped My Subway Sandwich on the bus and one of my Special ED Teacher’s gave me half of their Subs
Greyhound has the exact rules on their website but there is an age limit when children have to ride with a guardian or they have to have written permission and an adult to meet them at their final destination. There are also rules about how long they can ride and how far they can go I believe.
I have bought a ticket that will board before the station opens, will it just be like the stations where you said they’ll just stop and throw my bags in? How will it work? This is my first time going on a trip by myself, so I’m nervous and could use the help
Hey, I hope you don't mind me asking a question on one of your older videos. I've been trying to call the Greyhound help center but they've been absolutely no help, so I thought I'd ask you. I was going to PM you but you seem to be very active in your comments so I figure I can just ask you here :) This is my first time ever riding a Greyhound, and I opted to print out the ticket at home. Unfortunately I was running kind of low on colored ink, so some of the words were a bit faded. I had plenty of black ink, so you can still see my name, the times, the destinations and the bar code just fine. Words like "Passenger," "Trip Destination," "Arriving on," and so on are the only things faded, though you can still see all the information under them, just not the words themselves. Will I still be able to have my ticket honored, or should I get some more colored ink and try to reprint them? Sorry for bothering you, you just seem to be one of the most knowledgeable people I've run into and I thought I could try asking for your help :) Thank you for your time.
I usually use the Will Call option and pick my tickets up at the station so I'm not 100% sure about the answer to this question. If you have the time I would go up to the Greyhound station you are going to be leaving from and ask them if the ticket will be ok. I don't recommend calling because they will tell you anything over the phone just to get rid of you sometimes. If the option is there to reprint another ticket I would do that just to be on the safe side. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Some stations board by boarding number but alot of them don't. So if you are at a station that does then yes that's technically what it means. However, some of the stations that use boarding numbers board in blocks (like all passengers with boarding #'s 1-15 boarding first) so boarding #2 means you will board in the first block but the position that you board within that first block depends on where you are in line. If you are at a station that doesn't use boarding numbers then the bus will board first come first serve.
Hi, I have a ticket booked from North Hollywood to Santa Cruz. I have a print out ticket and coming from Australia. I noticed the bus station doesn't open until 6.30am and I have to board earlier on the bus. Does the bus driver just give me a baggage tag for checked baggage and the bag goes on? And I just show my ticket and ID? I did read if no staff see the driver but just making sure. Thanks.
If the station isn't open the driver will let you know what to do with your bags. Typically they go on the bus like normal and you just wait and get them checked at the next open station.
Ok thanks for that. Hopefully I don't have to wait long to do that at the next station so I don't miss the bus getting back on 😬. Great videos by the way.
Do you live in Denver? I ask because I wanted to take a bus from my city in Minnesota to Colorado Springs but no route exist on Greyhound bus so after a long call with them I know I can go from Minneapolis to Denver. I just don't know how to get to Colorado Springs from Denver. Also I will be bringing my bicycle it is under the 50 lbs. do you know of any experience of bicycles on a Greyhound?
No, I don't live in Denver. I've just been through that bus station a lot lol. I've never taken a bike on the bus. My only concern would be that it would be over the 62 inch maximum for checked luggage. I would try to contact someone at a Greyhound bus station and asks them about their policy on bicycles.
I am super late but I’m going to be traveling alone for the first time ever!! And I chose greyhound because I’m scared of heights so no plane for me, and I was going to go on amtrak but when I found out greyhound buses stop at gas stations and somewhere like McDonald’s for example and I chose the bus because well I like food😂 now my bus leaves the 26th and I should get in L.A at like 1-3 AM I forgot the time but anyways, that’s when I need to get off and transfer to another bus but my question is, “can you stay on the bus if there was a delay/a Layover” I’ve been watching your videos and I don’t know if you made a video on this or not but can you do a “What to take with you on the Greyhound Bus to stay occupied” so you’re not bored?
In most cases no Greyhound does not check or run ID. It's not like the airport. Greyhound really doesn't care. If they checked IDs like half of their passengers couldn't ride. But there are some instances where they will check id occasionally, but I couldn't tell you what the reasons were.
They stop at Greyhound stations and other greyhound affiliated stops along the way like gas stations and stores. So all the stops on a route won't be Greyhound stations but they will be the same stops each time that route is run.
can you check in for greyhound at the bus station then leave and come back. let's say your bus leaves at 7pm but you got there at 12 pm can you check in and then leave and come back
Definitely, once you've got your ticket and tags for your checked bags then you can do as you please until your bus comes. I just recommend being back at least an hour before your bus is scheduled to arrive.
I'm really nervous about my trip next week I'm leaving Virginia and going to texas I have two transfers I'm not too worried about those just kind of nervous about my layovers after my transfers their kind of long
I print out the ticket and I never ride on the greyhound bus and do you think they will scan the print paper I had print out or I got to get the ticket from them cause I already paid for?
I don't think they really care whether the ID is expired or not. I think they just want to make sure it's you. On the occasions where I have had to show my ID they just glanced at the name and handed it back to me.
They are supposed to check your ID to ride the bus. You might call Greyhound customer service and see if there any other forms of identification they will accept to verify who you are.are
It's okay, we all get a little emotional while talking about greyhound from time to time .
Lmao🤣
The busses are just so majestic. Only second to trains in their glory.
😭😭

Great Viedo on How to Check in at Greyhound Bus Station!!!!
Beautifull mountains in the background! Which region of the US is that?
Will the bus driver ask to see my I'D or just the ticket itself?
Ticket only

For a general bus station are there laws against minors riding without parental consent
Greyhound has the exact rules on their website but there is an age limit when children have to ride with a guardian or they have to have written permission and an adult to meet them at their final destination. There are also rules about how long they can ride and how far they can go I believe.
+GreyhoundGURU are there restrictions for 17 years olds
Dannii golds I rode the bus alone at 16. The driver was totally nice and said he'd look after me but the general age without a guardian is 17

Hey, I hope you don't mind me asking a question on one of your older videos. I've been trying to call the Greyhound help center but they've been absolutely no help, so I thought I'd ask you. I was going to PM you but you seem to be very active in your comments so I figure I can just ask you here :)
This is my first time ever riding a Greyhound, and I opted to print out the ticket at home. You should make videos on the greyhound bus
That's my plan. Just been working alot lately and haven't been able to take a bus trip lately.
I have a question when you get to the bus terminal is there going to be on the E ticket a gate number to bored
so you can go to the station to print out your ticker even when your not traveling on that day?
Yeah I usually do that instead of waiting till the day of the trip just to make sure there are no complications
will a state I.D. work and can you buy the tickets at the station?
What do I do if I don't have an ID to show? :(
Very helpful, thank you so much
Hey Tim can I travel alone on the grayhound bus in a sneaky way
can you still pay extra for priority boarding? It was available about 6 years ago for an extra $5.
Yes you can but some of the stations don't honor it so it can be a waste if your money
Can you show the driver on the greyhound bus your ticket on your smart phone instead of printing your ticket out?
Next time go to the company JTC in Jamaica
if you ride greyhound from LA to virginia, do you have to take 2 buses ?
I imagine it will be more like 3 or 4 buses
So you go to the ticket counter to check in your bags right?
Yes, you check your bags at the ticket counter
Frugal Travel Guru thank you!
Congratulations
Any form of photo ID good for the check in??
As long as it's issued by a government agency I think you are ok.
I'm boarding Number 2 so does that mean I will get on the bus Second?
Some stations board by boarding number but alot of them don't. So if you are at a station that does then yes that's technically what it means. However, some of the stations that use boarding numbers board in blocks (like all passengers with boarding #'s 1-15 boarding first) so boarding #2 means you will board in the first block but the position that you board within that first block depends on where you are in line. If you are at a station that doesn't use boarding numbers then the bus will board first come first serve.
Do the stations have self service kiosks? And ATMs?
Some do, some don't
could a small duffle bag go under my set or will it have to go under the bus alone with the others luggage?
A small duffle bag should be able to fit easily under your seat or in the overheard bin above your seat.
+GreyhoundGURU oh cool thank you🙌

If the station isn't open the driver will let you know what to do with your bags. Typically they go on the bus like normal and you just wait and get them checked at the next open station.

for a carry on can we take pipes on ?
+xsteamwolfx What kind of pipes?
xsteamwolfx any drugs are forbidden
Could you buy your ticket in person on the day of the travel?
Yes you can but if it's a busy route the bus might be sold out
I had a printed E-Ticket but they told me that I had to get a paper ticket what's the difference.
Not really a difference they both work

My only concern would be that it would be over the 62 inch maximum for checked luggage. I would try to contact someone at a Greyhound bus station and asks them about their policy on bicycles.

if you order your ticket off your phone do you still need to print it out??
You can opt for a print at home ticket, an eticket (if available), or you can pick your ticket up at the station.
I have a confirmation number but the station is at a gas station and not a physical greyhound station am I screwed do I have any other options?
I'm not entirely sure what you are asking. Any other options for what? Getting your ticket printed?
During most layovers you will have to get off the bus. They use that time to clean and service the buses.
Do the bus drivers keep your ticket?
They will rip off the ticket that you need to board the bus and you keep the rest.
What happens if something happens and you can't make the bus for some time do to accident
You can try and get the ticket rescheduled but to be honest in most cases you probably will just have lost that money.
This couldn’t have been more perfectly times😭 I depart in 5 hours
Do they check your Id to see if it is fake or real? Do they run your id to check out if it is fake or real?
In most cases no Greyhound does not check or run ID. It's not like the airport. Greyhound really doesn't care. If they checked IDs like half of their passengers couldn't ride. But there are some instances where they will check id occasionally, but I couldn't tell you what the reasons were.
I mean you should always have some form of ID on you.
Do greyhound buses only go to greyhound stations?
They stop at Greyhound stations and other greyhound affiliated stops along the way like gas stations and stores. So all the stops on a route won't be Greyhound stations but they will be the same stops each time that route is run.
can you check in for greyhound at the bus station then leave and come back. let's say your bus leaves at 7pm but you got there at 12 pm can you check in and then leave and come back
Definitely, once you've got your ticket and tags for your checked bags then you can do as you please until your bus comes. I just recommend being back at least an hour before your bus is scheduled to arrive.
Ok. That's good to know. I live like 10 minutes away
Does greyhound has age restrictions because I'm 17 I'm planning to go to Texas for vacation??
If you are 17 you can ride the bus alone.
I'm really nervous about my trip next week I'm leaving Virginia and going to texas I have two transfers I'm not too worried about those just kind of nervous about my layovers after my transfers their kind of long
How long are your transfers?
They usually aren't that bad lol. You just have to find something to do.
I print out the ticket and I never ride on the greyhound bus and do you think they will scan the print paper I had print out or I got to get the ticket from them cause I already paid for?
If you print out a ticket then you will need to use that ticket to ride the bus.
Just found your channel. Cool content!
what if I have a expired ID ?
I don't think they really care whether the ID is expired or not. I think they just want to make sure it's you. On the occasions where I have had to show my ID they just glanced at the name and handed it back to me.
+GreyhoundGURU thanks
Mine isnt expired but it has my old address on it
Would it be ok
what if you don't have an ID?
They are supposed to check your ID to ride the bus. You might call Greyhound customer service and see if there any other forms of identification they will accept to verify who you are.are
What if I where to use my picture from my school schedule
A Social Security card would work I think
would I need an id?
