I thought you should insert the small red filler in between the chain, it will work better and it certainly protects the tip of the snake, Maybe

im still on the fence about the ridgid flex shafts, mostly cause I got no $$$. would get for kitchen sinks tho. but you cant beat a k750 w/ 3/4" cable with a c cutter snagging baby wipes its just beast mode. its extremely rare to see building traps installed in my area its 99% of the time straight piped right to the main 10ft down so you just runner 100ft and good to go. $$$

Ridgid says you are suppose to clean the shaft as you pull it back. These guys need to read the instructions. They also have the small pre cut flex piece on the shaft below the chain knocker, it should be on the chain knocker to prevent it from bending and getting tied into a knot.

Hello very cool videos! I am in the plumbing trade as well and I have been doing plumbing for 5 years now. I have a question for you will a jet machine be more efficient to do those types of clogs? In the past I have used a traditional snake with a 4in cutter and a hose to have water running while I’m cutting and that seems to work but it’s very time consuming and I’m looking to save time this way I can get more calls done during a day period because it’s only me operating the business for now I have no helper yet. When you flush the toilet, water backs up into or comes up in the tub or shower. When your sewer line is clogged, the water can't go down the drain. Instead, it flows back up the pipes and comes out at the lowest point - usually the shower drain. When you run water in the bathroom sink, the toilet bubbles and gurgles. A sewer clean out is an important part of your home's plumbing and waste disposal system. ... The sewer clean out is a pipe with a cap that provides access to the sewer line so that blockages can be removed. The lateral sewer line is the sewer line that connects your home to the public sewer system. How do I clean out my main sewer line?
Step 1: Loosen the cap on the drain pipe.
Step 2: Open the cap and let the buildup drain out.
Step 3: Feed the auger cable into the drain pipe.
Step 4: Run the auger until the clog is clear-and beyond.
Step 5: Hose down the pipe and auger cable.
Step 6: Slowly pull the auger back out of the pipe. There could be several reasons for a clogged sewer line. Broken pipes, debris and tree roots can all cause improper draining throughout the sewer system. Tree and shrub roots can grow into an old sewer pipe in search for water, causing a ruptured or clogged sewer line. What are signs of sewage backup?
    Signs of Sewer Backup
#1 More than one drain is clogged. One drain getting clogged happens. ...
#2 Water backs up in other drains. When you use your plumbing, if water backs up in other places, this is a major sign of a sewer backup and a plumbing mishap brewing. ...
#3 Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles. ...

So I’ve been working with one of these for a minute and I can confidently say it is a great money maker for an established company.
It’s definitely not something you need right away and I probably wouldn’t have even used it in this case but it’s life changing for small root intrusions (especially with interior only access ie pulling a toilet), calcium build up on lines, and drains that are far removed from a house (like a septic tank).
This tool saves time and money but it is definitely not a work horse

It reminds me that jobs done with the correct tool are the best and are done with maximum efficiency and minimum effort. But and safety, from personal experience with drains since on two occasions I acquired salmonellosis (egg disease) just by smelling the gases from the drains, a dust mask or better yet an activated carbon mask and filters does not hurt. N95 that would also eliminate the stench and protect from most toxic gases (ammonium sulfides etc.) and of course the inevitable goggle
