Hey David Think I've found a DSG for myself! It's a DSG 1709. Needs new bearings in the feed box but the owner has offered to help me with the repair. I'm very very happy!!
I just found you today. I'm a young machinist in northern canada. Just thought I'd let you know, what you've shown in these videos is going to help me make a living.
I could smell that coolant sump through the screen. Good to see your DSG is ready to use (except for the ugly switch array they strapped on), I hope we get to see it making chips again soon!
When I rebuilt the suds pum p on my Colchester i made a split delrin bush and poked a length of PTFE gland packing inbetween the two halves. Made me feel better

I agree on the modern push buttons, awful. I have the original start stop buttons on my Fobco 10-eight drill press (made in England). The off button is sort of mushroom shaped and you only have to make contact with it, not actually move it, and the motor stops. It is extremely sensitive, yet it never stops the motor on it own. Ken
I know it’s not a museum piece , it’s a working machine but really the guy who did the control box has no pride in his work or he’s in a hurry. Seems like a total lack of taste to me anyway .

At least be thankful the DSG wasn't updated to modern safety standards with chuck covers etc.

G day David 👍👍 😂😂 great mate
In the U.S. we use only distilled water with our cutting fluid cause hard water deposits destroys the pumps.
The water's soft in Yorkshire (about the only soft thing in Yorkshire too) - so very little scale deposit.
Surely it depends on which part of the USA? I bet some areas have hard water and others soft just like in Britain.
@@codprawn CNC shops don't use any tap water because of the amount of chlorine some towns use that can flash rust some aerospace metals.
