I am a very young Neil Diamond lover. I have many of his records and i think he is phenomenal. I remember very well that my teacher played America in class one time. My grandmas friend loves Neil Diamond as much as we do, and she went to so many concerts. At the gift shop, she got a Neil Diamond duffel bag. She never used it, so she gave it to me. I am planning to use it all the time, and maybe as my new school bag. I love you, Neil. You inspire me and you are so amazing. I know your birthday is on the 24th, so happy early birthday.
in my world, this man is a giant on the music scene... lucky school to have neil come back after all these years to put on a free concert in the gym... have most of his albums --- melody lane will be on my wish list----hear that, sean........
who couldnt love Neil Diamond ,he never forgot where he came from, such a humble man.ive been in love with him my whole life i will only wish him good health and happiness ..i can cry listening to this song, its soo beautiful.. but then again i love all of his songs....
My sister has just passed away , peacefully . She had Cancer . She was a massive Neil Dimond fan . This song is being played at the end of the funeral . Listen to words and you will understand why I chose this song .
His voice might not be as good as it once was, But I truly think he still sounds great for 73 years old. he can still carry a note. McCartney can't sing like he used to, but he just had a hit LP "NEW" out and I think this Neil Diamond LP will do well. He could just retire, but he he chooses not to. he does it for his fans and his love of music and songwriting.
In a way a sad song where a complete human being depends on others for his or her happiness. Happiness should be given without expecting anything in return and in this giving one should seek own joy. Expecting others to make us happy is to pass on own control to others.. risky business. Still a nicely sung song...
Neil's voice sounds better than it did in the late 80's and 90's since he quit smoking, to see how good he sounds now -to then - compare these beautiful vocals on Melody Road to his "Live in America" CD, Anyway I- don't hear the froggy at all and that is MY opinion. John's just apparently either angry about something or a pro at making people wanna argue with him, the first time he engaged me after some fun, civil back and forth was to publicly criticize me about the album I was working hard and investing much into recording - said i should do a LIVE album, because I was deceving people not showing my talent like a live album would and then arguing that my studio album would be kind of "a fraud" because it was a studio album with overdubs... that I should do a live album that would show exactly what I could do,. After politely explaining that my last two albums were LIVE in concert albums and that I have been wanting to do a studio album... and gave an example that as much as I LOVE the bootleg of the Beatles Abbey Road just jamming the songs "live" not overdubs or studio "tricks" with a garage almost Zep feel AND a 7 min "Come Together"... was cool - it was not the #1 studio album the Beatles released... He continued to piss people off that were trying to support and encourage me... end of story the CD - available on iTunes, Amazon, Google+ etc is spent most of the summer placing between #11 and #2 on the Top 15 Albums on D'Amato's charts on the Island of Malta, Europe - and in September it hit #1 and stayed #1 for a number of weeks! So we have learned to just ignore some peoples "stong" and many times like this comment, offensive opinions. I find some people can act like a you know what, and come off sounding like a you know what - but GOD FORBID you call them a you know what!! The moral to this story? - I have a #1 album in Europe with my GLORY ROAD and reading this thread... well we have all been in tears laughing! Not a fan that thinks everything ND touches is great or gold, I have a CD that came out before the Rick Rubin album that I listened to once and did not like it at all.
John Hylton, I am surprised by your comment, firstly that it is rather unkind, but secondly, and more importantly, you have made a tidy living out of performing as Neil Diamond, you may say you are being honest, but it is a little hypocritic to criticise the great man who's music has offered you a living, I do get what you were trying to say, and maybe it was tongue in cheek, in such a case will you still go out and perform, and attend his concert next year, I have seen your show, and you are a good professional, and come across as a decent man, don't spoil it.
Truth spoils it? What I do for a living is not relevant. ....If Neil sings until he is 100 am I obliged to say its great because of what I do for a living??
John Hylton I don't think it's so much about truth, it's about respect, your comment came across as biting the hand that feeds, in that Neil Diamond has provided you with the means to make a living, merely an observation, I accept that Neil has sounded better, but that is an age thing, many many years of using his voice has took it's toll, but I don't think he sounds bad, as a singer yourself, you will understand the demands placed upon the voice, to perform continually at a level that is acceptable to your audience, in Neil's case, what else would he do, if not sing...?.
It is Neils choice to carry on singing when his abilities are far less than in times gone by. He doesn't need the money ......and like other people his age, he can simply retire.I am sure he can afford to!! While you agree with me that he cant sing anything like he used to, you seem to believe that I forfeit my right to speak because I have made a career, largely from being a Neil Diamond Tribute performer. I totally accept, Neil was a very good singer and songwriter.... but that was until maybe 10 years ago. He no doubt knows that himself. Time catches up with us all.
John Hylton I don't believe you should forfeit your right to speak, that wasn't my point, without repeating myself, you and I both know Neil's best years are behind him, maybe it is me, in being such a fan, it is difficult to accept that this man's star is on the wane, much like many Elvis fans couldn't accept that their idol had become a parody of himself in the years and months leading up to his death, I have followed Neil since being a young boy, beyond forty years, his music has provided a soundtrack to my life, cliched I know, but true, I don't want this to be an argument between you and I, my response to yourself was merely an observation, nothing more.
I love Neil.....he gives me so much joy....always raises my spirit... thankyouxxx❤
the joy in neils voice when he is on the stage is something that a person can never forget he so happy when he is singing 🙂🥰😍
