Just because you CAN do something does not mean you should do something. In this case the cons FAR outweigh the benefit. What are the benefits? Increased ease of trade between Europe and Africa. What are the cons? The increased ease in which criminals and particularly violent undesirables can cross over the two contenients and cause mayhem on the other side. The original school was destroyed by the Taliban. Now that the Taliban are back in power, I don't know what has happened to the school. For a more just world, I believe it's crucial that people have the opportunity to educate and develop themselves where they live, rather than migrating en masse to distant places where they may feel unwanted and alien for the rest of their lives. The best technical solution is not considered here. That would be a hanging tube, like a hanging bridge, but underwater. That would make it more resistant to earthquakes and will not disturb the maritime traffic.
Building a bridge from Europe to Africa could be an impressive symbol of connectivity, but do we really need it? The environmental consequences, huge costs, and technical challenges make this idea more difficult to implement than it seems.
These are not reasons why they WON'T have a bridge, but excuses why they WON'T WANT to have a bridge. On the question of wanting to, they would overcome the problems. They don't want to because it's a huge trade bottneck enriching Catalonia, and Spain can veto any aspiration to actually run the project. If it wasn't for that, they should build an artificial island on the Mediterranean side of Spain, like a Mars colony, 3-4 miles off the coast of Morocco. This would be elevated on the southern side to allow barge ships to pass through, but Morocco would definitely toll the passage and gain a similar competitive edge as Catalonia has. Don't even mention Panama canal or Suez Canal. Then there could be a cheaper 7-mile bridge on the north side but that would asking to be blown up harder than WTC.
That train tunnel in fact is precisely the same thing as it offers precisely the same possibilities. How are you gonna stop the masses when they decide to go to Europe THROUGH your train tunnel?

One word would get this done. If I wanted to sell this idea I would always use the word "toll", it's a "toll bridge" or tunnel. This size bridge is a lot of upkeep, like the Golden Gate, they never stop painting.
Demand should preceed supply in these kind of high cost infrastructure. If there is a ship connectivity already, carrying substantial traffic, that can provide some justification to consider. Is such alternate mode of transport catering to substantial traffic?

Just because you CAN do something does not mean you should do something. In this case the cons FAR outweigh the benefit. What are the benefits? Increased ease of trade between Europe and Africa. What are the cons? The increased ease in which criminals and particularly violent undesirables can cross over the two contenients and cause mayhem on the other side. In this case we already see the negative impacts of African quote unquote "refugees" who have dramatically increased the crime rates in target destination countries such as Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Sweden, ect. In this case conparing the pros and cons we see that the cons SEVERELY outweigh any monetary benefits the bridge may bring.

Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Indones-ia etc.
Basically, the use of '-iye/-ia' is the same as the the use of '-land' suffix in country names like
Ire(Eire)-land, Po(le)-land, Eng(Anglo)-land and so on and so on.
Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia).

Now in modern times, this caused confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on an atlas.
Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : )

Building a bridge from Europe to Africa could be an impressive symbol of connectivity, but do we really need it? The environmental consequences, huge costs, and technical challenges make this idea more difficult to implement than it seems.

They don't want to because it's a huge trade bottneck enriching Catalonia, and Spain can veto any aspiration to actually run the project.
If it wasn't for that, they should build an artificial island on the Mediterranean side of Spain, like a Mars colony, 3-4 miles off the coast of Morocco. This would be elevated on the southern side to allow barge ships to pass through, but Morocco would definitely toll the passage and gain a similar competitive edge as Catalonia has. Don't even mention Panama canal or Suez Canal. Then there could be a cheaper 7-mile bridge on the north side but that would asking to be blown up harder than WTC.
