Heath Ledger and a business partner were working on opening a restaurant in Brooklyn, NY when Heath died. The restaurant is still there and it’s called Five Leaves named after Nick’s Five Leaves Left album. The restaurant is in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint neighborhood

26 actually, but I think there is still a great opportunity for a film about Nick. Sort of the story of the brilliant artist who's career never actually pans out, and who was always a loner but eventually it got the best of him as his friends began to thin and live their natural lives.
I could see it be pretty darn good without having to take many creative liberties... The only tough part would be finding someone who could play as gracefully as Nick on the wood n strings.
At least Nick is finally getting some recognition

It was intentional. He was supposed to take 3 pills/day, but took the entire bottle.

It’s definitive but Nicks decline in the end is tough going.
Love nicks music too ,incredible talent ,glad his music has spread worldwide too,great present he left us I guess , I had to limit the amount I played his music though after a while ,personally think it could quite easily put you in a dark place at times as fantastic as it is
Some think it was the antidepressant that stopped his heart and taking too much was an accident. But I have been obsessed with his story too, feel some parallel with my own in some ways but I have come to believe he as the yungest of a very accomplish family his mother a great artist in her own right and his sister a famous actress he felt like he could never live up and when his records failed to really make him feel more successful he was very depressed. I think he was such a sensitive soul in a world he felt little understood. Perhaps I read too much into it but I think his death was a careless mistake. The drugs he was taking for depression had a known danger of heart attack.
His parents said there were unaware that the amitriptyline he was on for depression could be lethal, they said they hidden all the aspirin etc. Which indicate they had concerns that he might attempt suicide .
His sister said she thought it was a spur of the moment thing, and that probably he thought either he'd die or he'd come through it and be different.
He also said to a friend that he didn't have anymore songs to write. Either way what ever his intention it's desperately sad.
He was supposed to take 3-5 tryptizols a day but he swallowed 60 pills, the entire bottle instead. I don't know how that could have been a mistake.

It clearly was a half intentioned suicide. He was overdosing more and more on his meds, chasing the high.. but also content with dying. Heath went the same way.
This is the best explanation I’ve come across. I remember in one of the Nick Drake documentaries how one of his friends or colleagues said something to the effect of “he swallowed a bottle of pills and thought, ‘oh well, either I’ll live to see another day or this is it for me’”.

Nobody knows if he did kill himself (nick)that is but strange the way heath passed away too . Rip both of them, great talents.

Me too I'm obsessed with Nick Drake these months, studying his music, stories and I think Nick is an INFJ like my personality based of the documentaries I watched, stories, monolog and thanks to his sister Gabrielle for telling more about Nick. Also, Nick Drake is such a mystery and forever we will always wonder about him.
ohh even i am a infj like i think any person that know about nick are aware about personality type but do you really think so nick is an infj like i know he was secret and a mystery but he is way more creative then an infj i know infj are creative has a vivid chaotic mind but i think he is an infp because the way he can express his feeling is just magical like the pink moon song form his last album while making it he was going through his depression in that song the very first line "" i saw i write i was it say the pink moon is on his way " how many infj's can think their depression loneliness as a pink moon well for me infp are like more creative then an infj because like an intp infp are the same they just think about chaos and are able to find beauty in it

You obviously don't know much about suicide. People often cook a dinner and do the dishes. They often hoover and clean the house. The reason many kill themselves in the bath is they do not want to leave a mess. Some people travel great distances across a nation and even to different countries to kill themselves. So having cereal isn't proof of anything. From a documentary I saw his parents and sister seemed to feel he killed himself although they never said with 100% certainty.

I saw a documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge suicides which was very sad. They filmed for an entire year and caught all the suicides and told their stories. In the UK people travel across the country to Beachy Head, in Japan to Aokigahara (suicide forest), I saw a documentary about this too. well he didn't necessarily die from suicide, the antidepressants he was taking were very strong back in the seventies he was on antipsychotics also

I personally don't think the death of Nick Drake was suicide, I think it was the same reason as Heath's death, an accident caused by prescription drugs.

Actually, there is some evidence of a suicide. Overdosing on medication is evidence.
Charles Black Maybe he used to be depressed. I'm not generally sad and I dig Drake's music too. It is indeed weird that Ledger would get the date and age wrong, but y'know..these cats are people too.

Yeah, but his mother told that he didn't sleep much the nights before the death, so some people assumed that Nick took too much pills accidentally (according to Molly Drake: many times Nick took more pills than normal and she was ok with that because she didn't know that too much of them will lead to death). Another thing that the beliver of the accidental death talk about is the fact that the house was full of barbiturates and he killed himself with some sleeping pills.

He would've had to take "liberties" with Nick Drakes story because his life was kind of boring. Not to diminish him in the least. I have read his biography. He was a rich English kid who was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth and became a great musician. This as a movie would make people fall asleep.

see his works...don't judge with scornful eyes...what if he were from a rich family? what matters is what an interesting life he had regardless of his affluence. People may find that interesting especially after he didn't care bout money or fame
