  • How to be original in art is as important as you want it to be. In this art inspiration video I show you how I steal the brand color palette of a supermarket chain to make an hard edge abstract painting. Colorful abstract paintings are fun to make and great to look at. The color combination for design is often the result of a long process. The company or brand has thought about it. When you copy art, for instance their color palette, is a good way to improve your painting skills or how to find inspiration for art. Good artist copy, great artists steal, it is just one of the aspects of painting. Have fun painting.
The video about the artwork on the wall behind me: • Abstract acrylic paint...
    Materials
The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.
I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH...
In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

This is an awesome vid. I've watched in twice now to motivate and give me ideas to draw in an abstract fashion. It's so liberating!

I really like this & May I suggest you might enjoy purchasing The Color Cubes from Sarah Rae Clark. I received mine for a Mother’s Day present. Hundreds of color combinations! Karen, in michigan

Love your videos. I'm new to painting and have learned so much from you. I wonder why you use a small brush for many of your paintings.

Hi Mary, thanks and nice to hear. It depends on the painting. I don't spend much money on my brushes, I believe painting is more about creativity then spending money on tools. When I paint smaller parts, or have to be careful I use a smaller brush. When I paint a rough landscape or bigger parts I often use a bigger brush. I use a 5, 10, 20 and 40 mm brush. I also use a painting knife, pieces of a scrub sponge, an old membership card and my hands. 😁
Hope this answers your question. Albert

    What brush do you use?

Hi Cookie, thanks for the comment. Most of the time I use a 10 mm or 40 mm brush, a few dollar a piece. Best is to just buy one and try it out. Bye, Albert
