    Great video. Clear and precise. Was missing the (-) in the U position for inside boring.

    Thanks for the video, Tom, you explained the use of the G70 in a way that made it easy to understand. This will cut down my programming time...

    could you maybe do a tutorial series over a chess set. i think it will benefit every one to learn that. not only is it something we can use in the real world but also cheap for material and you can make each chess piece basic to advanced skill

    Please post a video of G54 how to set on lathe

    The finish facing opp is starting at the stock od which means that it is cutting fresh air at 3 inches until it reaches the half inch diameter ,that would be not be practical in a machine shop where cycle times are expected to be as efficient as possible!

    im having a problem. im cutting the seals on a crankshaft with 2 different sizes, i have g71 on the first seal and then g70 and all works fine, my next g71 is on the second seal after a rapid movement and it also does fine but my second finish cycle uses x parameter off of the first cycle. i have it all in one code. and idk if this matters but when i ran it offset back a few inches to do a trial pass in single block, it worked as it should but once i cleared the offset and ran it for real it crashed on that last finish.

    How do you control the speed for the finishing pass? Does it always have to be the same as the roughing pass?

      Crivo152 The Surface Feet per Minute will be the same if you are using the same type of insert. The feed rate for the roughing operation is usually faster in order to break the chip. On the finish pass what matters is the surface finish. A slower feed rate will produce a finer finish.

    Hello Tom,If I touch off every single tool in X & Z. What is the G54 (Tool Offset Coordinate) in your program going to do?

    • @TomStikkelman
      @TomStikkelman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will store the position used to touch off all the tools. If the length of the part changes on the next job you will only need to use one tool to set the new G54 position without having to retouch off all the other tools. Thanks. TS

    You have left the U-.03 W.01 in the roughing cycle G71. In the finishing cycle where you left G70 P10 Q11. Do I need to add U0.0 W0.0 to remove all the materials that you have left in the roughing cycle?

    • @TomStikkelman
      @TomStikkelman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The G70 finishing cycle looks at the geometry between n10 and n11 and only takes one finish pass using that geometry. No U or W needed.

      Is G70 will remove U-.03 W.01 that you have left in G71?

    • @marcsyltogether6382
      @marcsyltogether6382 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i guess because g70 only read the path for p10 until q11 which means n10 until n11

    do I need to use G41/42 at the beginning with G70 ?

      The G70 cycle gets that information from the roughing cycle. Thanks Robert.

      I have another question: could you explain basic cycles for Okuma driver like rough OD, finish OD, drilling, grooving, threading operation ?
