My favorite cedh gameplay video of 2025 so far!
I love how this one feels like a New Year's Day hangover expressed in a game of MTG, because not only are there a few key rules misses in the game itself, but some of the in-edit corrections after the fact are also incorrect, so it's just beautifully chaotic all the way around. This actually makes it so fun to watch, because sometimes you're all so in the moment with whatever cool thing your friend's deck is doing that you don't notice the small details, and that too is a beautiful thing.

I don't know that it would have mattered given the amount of copies that were made but Aaron shouldn't have been able to target Jim right? Cause he had the Metamorph Ring enter that turn so he should have had protection. Great game all around though, love seeing Krark get there.
You are correct! that being said, many krark saka lists can beat ring protection by using "you find some prisoners" to exile your non-protected opponents decks and steal their win cons!
But torpor orb would have prevented the protection trigger from the One Ring, so it doesn't alter the outcome in that instance.
@@pablo.aranda95 nah Pmorph has some silly ways around that, now if the Pmorph entered as a creature then yes the orb would prevent the trigger.

Curious, how did aaron bring out sakashima as a copy of krark when there is a torpor orb out?
it’s not a triggered ability, it just enters as the copy. Because of this clone effects trigger etbs
@@stoppons6131 I appreciate the explanation, i think this explains a good deal of it: Abilities that apply "as [this creature] enters the battlefield," including many abilities that ask a creature's controller to choose a color or creature type, are unaffected.

Weirdly, popping Bloodfire Dwarf the second it hit the field would've killed 3 of the opponents' mana creatures and massively slowed the game for everyone not named Aaaron.

Yes it would be sacrificed to the legend rule and another rule validation was during coping storm spell. Copy wasn't cast from hand and bc of that it shouldn't trigger a storm.
@@SchibaNadzwyczajny I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The original Mind's Desire got storm copies, but not the copies made by Krark since they were put on the stack, not cast. And they correctly did not make storm copies for the copies of Mind's Desire, only for the original Mind's Desire.
OP is talking about God-Pharoah's Statue being copied by The Mycosynth Gardens. Correct, this does not work, as Editor Fil addressed with text onscreen.

I don't think Aaron could have won. At least, not on the turn when he went off. Jim was still behind the protection ability of The Phyrexian One Ring Metamorph.
Grapeshot and Brain Freeze don't work, since they target. Neither does combat, since attacking creatures wouldn't deal any damage to him. There's nothing in Aaron's deck that suggests a wincon WITHOUT Storm, or, to a lesser extent, combat. What's the line, exactly?
There's an Editor's panel at 23:48 that shows he also runs Thassa's Oracle. He's in red so it's a safe assumption that he has Underworld Breach in there. He could just draw until he has both Breach and Brain Freeze to Breach and then Brain Freeze himself and win off Thoracle. Lion's Eye Diamond gives him the 3 blue he needs to pull it off. Alternatively, he can just draw his entire deck and forgo the Brain Freeze.
@@WiLDRAGE777 I don't see Thoracle in the deck list. And a storm win would still require Aaron to pass the turn, giving Jim an opportunity to disrupt his plan.
@@WiLDRAGE777 There is still a torpor orb on the battlefield at this point. I assume aaron has some kind of artifact removal, but torpor orb needs to be removed first

Sakashima enters as a copy of the creature it's not an enter the battlefield
Sakashima's ability is a **replacement effect** that modifies how he enters the battlefield. Torpor Orb prevents abilities that **trigger as the result of a creature entering the battlefield.** As Sakashima's ability is not a triggered ability, Torpor Orb does nothing to stop him from entering as a copy

It only tapped for one mana. Tundra has Wild Growth attached to it, so that's two mana. Bloom Tender taps for one, and Fanatic of Rhonas taps for one, for a total of four mana, enough to cast Neoform and pay for the Statue tax.
Metamorph wouldnt grant prorection from the ring? Dont you have to cast the one ring? It ETBs as a ring so different?
if you cast metamorph from your hand it will give protection, it enters as the one ring and then see's that the spell was cast from your hand.

They weren't actually protected by the one ring because torpor orb stops that Etb

1. You're going to have to clarify what moment you mean. If you mean with the Metamorph, because nothing stops it (the legendary rule applies per player, so each player can have a copy of a legendary permanent in play). If you mean with the God Pharoah's Statue and the Garden, it wouldn't have worked had the ability resolved, since the legendary rule would make him get rid of one of them.
2. You mean the Mox Diamond at 14:10? He tapped Ancient Tomb to cast it to pay for the Statue tax.
Remember that this is why Nadu was banned. 23:15. And they shortcutted all the coin flips. As far as I know, they didn't flip any coins.
I'm not against Krark in the format. I'm for Nadu though.
This is the best episode of the year so far but also the worst episode of the year
I hope this is the only time Krark turns up on this channel, it's play patterns are so humdrum and not entertaining.
