      That's awesome! The Stave mill has been a great source of wood and a great way to meet lots of new people who enjoy firewood as well. Do you go there too?

      @bluegrassoutdoors I haven't been there yet, trying to get things squared away here at home. Fell on hard times but hopefully make it there soon. Would be a pleasure to meet you!

    I don’t know why my comments aren’t showing up. I probably have something turned off or I am not signed in to google. I am not a computer guy. I am 71 years old and this computer stuff is way above my head. You may not see my comments but rest assured I am commenting on just about every one of them. I just hand split about a half cord for my sick friend yesterday. Today I feel pretty sore in my back. I used a FISKARS and a really old 6 pound maul that I re hung on a nice 34 inch piece of hickory. We were using his hydroulic splitter on some large elm rounds that somebody gave him and the splitter blew a hose and covered me up with fluid. Ruined my carhart overalls that I have had for 30 years or longer. I had to hang them in the shed,wife ran me out of the house when I got home. Those elm rounds were about 24 inches across and green as goose crap.i told him not to burn any of it till next year because it would mess up his chimney with creosote. The wood I hand split was red oak and white oak. My friend had a bad heart attack a few years ago , and now he don’t have enough wind to blow out a match. I help him with his firewood every year and will continue as long as I am able.

      I'm always happy to hear from you, Garry, and I hope to stay in touch for as long as we are able! It sounds like you split a lot of wood. Helping him out like that was very kind of you! I'm sure he appreciated that a lot. Elm is some tough stuff, isn't it! I've heard stories of it and Sycamore busting hydraulic hoses like that. That alone is very telling! I'd say you were upset about the coveralls. To have them that long and theb have that happen had to be discouraging. Keep up the good work, and if you ever feel like recording, I'd love to see it! Many others as well, I'm sure. It's good to hear from you, my friend, and God bless

    im curious how much you think one of those big $200 loads weighs? it would have to be very heavy like over 4000 pounds wouldnt it?

    • @bluegrassoutdoors
      @bluegrassoutdoors  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’m guessing you’re pretty close. I would think around 3000 pounds because a full cord of oak is around 4800 to 5500 if it’s still wet, according to statistics. This is around 2 face cords so 2/3 of a cord. It’s a lot of weight to be hauling for sure!

    Hi Dillon. Do you mostly split and sell oak? How much you usually charge for truck, half, full cord?

    • @bluegrassoutdoors
      @bluegrassoutdoors  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes sir. Mainly white oak. A level truck load for me is $100, delivered and stacked inside my county. Outside is an additional price for gas. I also do double face cord load and charge $200 for those, delivered and stacked. A full cord for me is $300

    • @Pinned-ys2po
      @Pinned-ys2po 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ would you believe that out here where the am they’re asking anywhere from $475 to as high as $600 for a cord of oak delivered. Been enjoying your videos. Have a lot of eucalyptus wood I’ve been splitting. Was using the Fiskars Maul for the bigger stuff and ended up getting the 36 inch Fiskars splitting ax and love it. Way faster and doesn’t tire me out as easy. Looking at making, or getting a pickeroon so don’t have to bend down so much. God bless you and your family
