As we all know, the saffan accents are not the easiest but here's all kinds of attempts, including acing it, like Rebel Wilson Have a nice safe day and be kind to all!
@@Denny_Boi no, Zimbabwe is a different country, made when Rhodesia dissapeared, the movie is set in a time where Di caprio was playing a former Rhodesian soldier, so it's correct. Besides the Rhodesian accent and the Zimbabwean accent is different
Sharlto Copley doesn't need to do a South African accent as he is South African, but his natural voice is quite refined English speaker and in Free Fire he rips off the Joburg boykie accent so well. It is hilarious
2nd one was quite good! Leonardo wasn't to bad! Yes, there's no Ausie accents in SA! It's English stripped of the US, UK Ausie feel... if it's an Afrikaans person speaking English, you'll need subs in English. 😆 It'll be to foreign at first. Then the tenses will have was and were confused, has and have etc... for those who really speak bad English. Love 🇿🇦 In SA you have Indian English, Afrikaans English, Portuguese English, Black English accents. All VERY diverse. That is why you have the "Jan van der Mêrwe The Scotsman and Englishman" jokes...
@@Cassxowary Actually, I was born in Pinetown and grew up in Durban. Loving the Indian curry! I had my schooling in Afrikaans when there was fantastic Afrikaans super schools still around. I can't listen to it at times. 🙃😂🤣 It's better if some people just stick to Afrikaans and the other person answers in English...
They tried hah and that was the best one, considering (though still inaccurate of course hah), at least according to the general consensus, and technically that was Rhodesian (modern day Zimbabwe) but in those days it was basically the same thing lol
What's all this talk about a 'South African' accent? There is an Afrikaans accent, a Bantu accent, etc. As far as Leo DeC's Rhodesian accent goes, it seems to me that Rhodesians/White Zimbabweans vary between a 'mild' English-type accent and a more clipped, Afrikaans-influenced one, and that Leo did a good job of the latter.
i can't attest to how accurate these accents are but why is the LETHAL WEAPON 2 clip Labelled as Naked Gun 2 and 1/2 the smell of fear ... anyone else notice that? 🤔
leo isn’t attempting a south african accent. it’s a rhodesian accent
Right eh?
I think you mean Zimbabwean accent. Rhodesia doesn't exist anymore. Just like South Africa isn't the Union of South Africa.
@@Denny_Boi no, Zimbabwe is a different country, made when Rhodesia dissapeared, the movie is set in a time where Di caprio was playing a former Rhodesian soldier, so it's correct.
Besides the Rhodesian accent and the Zimbabwean accent is different
Same thing
It's still bad and it's still wrong.
Why do some of them make Afrikaans sound more Australian?? 😂
They're gonna make me go through an identity crisis, lol
Right hey 😂 it’s been said it’s closer to the NZ/kiwi one than Aussie one though
Africaans is not the same thing as South African English.
Andy Serkis nailed the Afrikaans accent as Ulysses Klaue in ‘Age of Ultron’. 👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely
is that what he was doing? i didnt even know damn
Only person playing a south African that I genuinely thought was one, was shocked to find out he wasn't
It was flimmed in johannesburg
I love the SA accent, it's such an interesting mix of british and aussie, but still unique. love from Canada!
and dutch mostly, and portuguese and german and more...
No no no where does Australia come in it was a Dutch & British colony. So it that and the African influence as well
we do not sound Australian at all lol, hollywood does a horrible job recreating our accents
@@mcgregorhumanities faxx they dunno Durban ones
You're right, I've been told I sound British with a mix of Australian 😂🇿🇦
As a South African, the accent is quite difficult and isn’t easy to recreate. Even if you do hear it on a daily basis.
😅😅😅true
It can't be copied because there isn't only one South African English accent. It depends on where you're from in the country and your home language.
There are dozens of SA accents...
@@patrickporter6536 I know. I live in South Africa.
Born in Pretoria 60+ years ago. I wish I can unlearn it.
Leonardo needs to learn to roll those R's and round those vowels. You can hear the flat American Vowels. It sounds awful and jarring to our ears.
He’s Rhodesian and it’s quite accurate
@@baldeagle6113 it's not , Rhodesians didn't pronounce vowels like leo does.
His accent is terrible, I am from Zimbabwe
The second one was actually good
Val Kilmers South African accent in The Saint was really good
The second one was quite believable. The rest...eish!
They switch between Afrikaans and Kiwi lol
The first movie is Lethal Weapon and not Naked Gun. 😅
Sharlto Copley doesn't need to do a South African accent as he is South African, but his natural voice is quite refined English speaker and in Free Fire he rips off the Joburg boykie accent so well. It is hilarious
The character Danny Archer is Rhodesian, not South African.
But he doesn't sound like a Rhodesian at all.

@@Nationaliberty 😂Says who?
But Leo's Character wasn't South African he's from Zimbabwe.
White Zimbabwean Sound South African for some reason
White Rhodesians were also from SA

She said Shame😂😂😂... They did their research
I love Rebel Wilson ❤
0:53 is best imo
Leo’s accent was Rhodesian not South African
Yes but in those days it was almost the same thing, same people basically
Rebal Sounds like those Afrikaans teachers who could not pronounce my simple ass name
Africaans is not English.
Rebel wilson is the worst sa accent ever attempted. Matt damon has one of the best sa accents ever attempted.
She started of strong with the "howzit" but it went downhill pretty quickly from there
She's a Aussie's nightmare.
I think Rebel was TRYING to make her South African accent sound ridiculous, as she and Anne were undercover in the movie.
Leo's was technically Zimbabwean English.
@@Denny_Boi BUT HE'S RHODESIAN......
First clip is not naked gun, it's lethal weapon 2
0:39 is actually good
Right. Or is he south african!?
Yeah its perfect actually. I think he may be a Saffa
He sounds like Kingpin from Spiderman The Animated Series
But then it was absolute ruined by finishing the scene with 1:16. 👎
Don Cheadle does it best 🥂
Rwandan accent, mate
The 1st one is Lethal Weapon 2!
The first movie is _Lethal Weapon 2._
It's HARD.
Soth-Effrica
Leo sounds like a boet from fourways🤣
Sounds like a cage foighter broo just shot some roids in his ass and now he's a mean boet.😅

Awesome videos bro 😎
Thank you 😎
Sharlto is still king of SA/afrikaans accents
because he is from sa kek
Tsek
Probably because he is South African. That may be a clue.
Helps he came form here boet.

How does "South African accent" always end up "Afrikaans accent"?
Izzito why did you show me this
First of all leonardo did the rodiasian accent

Wtf is DiCaprio's accent??😆😆
he's talking how the commander talks so that he understands him. thats not his normal south african accent.

The best attempt was by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Struggling.
Charlise Trrrrôn can do it..
