This really is emotional. You're left at the end of the game with Mel leaving Aperture alone, leaving someone she likely forged a very close bond with in a short amount of time due to Virgil actually being kind and trustworthy, unlike Wheatley was. She's left alone in a likely unstable world without any kind of companionship. And she could have taken Virgil with her-- he could activate the elevator without being on a rail, he's got that wi-fi.
This track combined with the scenes at the end of the game left me in shock, and I didn't tear up until after I'd turned off the game and listened to this track again. Gorgeous music, amazing story, great characters, A+ mod.
Dan Cojocaru Calm down, now. It IS a mod, and Portal 2 is a full game. I'm not insulting Portal Stories: Mel in any way--I'm just using the accurate term. Portal Stories: Mel is a fan mod of Portal 2. There's nothing wrong with putting it that way.
BabyCharmander I knew that, but it is at least equal to Portal 2 in quality, so it is a mod only by the technicak term, not the conception that mods are little things. Also, Valve should take this as Portal thing-after-two so they can finally release Portal 4...
Dan Cojocaru Just because something is a mod does not make it a small endeavor. I would not put this game on equal ground with Portal 2, however, considering it was made WITH Portal 2. Portal Stories: Mel is not a standalone thing, so it can't be put on equal ground with Portal 2. And I'm not so sure it would be a good idea for Valve to make fanworks like this canon... That's not to speak down the mod at all! I LOVE this mod. It is absolutely incredible and worthy of the praise it gets. However I do think putting it on equal grounds with Portal 2 itself and saying that it should be canon is too far. It's a fanwork, and an absolutely amazing one--let it stand as that.
BabyCharmander First things first, I did NOT said that Valve should make fanworks, but accept them as part of the main story. And by this I mean that you may need to interact with AEGIS in Portal 3. Now, what makes a game perfect? Gameplay, story, that are the important things. The gameplay is the same, so they are equal here. But the story... Let me say it like this: Portal 2 did not make me cry. Nor did impressed me somehow. But with Portal Stories: Mel, you got to see Aperture Science Innovators, the experiment, it failing, then cores etc etc. Tell me what you think about this? Technically, it certainly is a mod, but in any other meaning, the word mod is an insulte for this game.
I cried at this ending. It looked like virgil was holding back "tears" just before he disappears out of sight. The view we get as players of the entire facility recapped the entire game perfectly. The line from Stig as Virgil "I don't want to drown in goo!" really sent chills down my spine during the AEGIS battle. Thanks to all the people who made this mod possible!
When I first finished the game I was like 'This ending is as satisfying as the actual Portal 2. Good music.', nothing really too sad for me. Idk why, but when I found out the song was called 'Decades of science' the feels hit me.
Easily this 'mod' could have sold as retail game. the fact that it tells a great story of the time between portal 1 and 2 is astounding. props to you and the team you worked with Harry, brilliant game with a brilliant soundtrack! you guys rock.
This song... This game really, should definitely get WAY more popularity than it got. And don't take that lightly, because this is a game that deserves the fame. You took Portal 2 and made it a game of its own right, even though its a bridge between Portal and Portal 2. You got a companion that didn't backstab you, a brand new model for the Portal Device, you simply get a LOT of new content that you could never find in the 2 Portal games. And when this song is heard, you feel a wave of accomplishment, and in the mix you also find sympathy for what happened over the years that Mel was sleeping in a faulty relaxation vault. And as Cave Johnson would say, When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. MAKE LIFE TAKE THE LEMONS BACK! And that is exactly what you and your team did. In other words, you took an already good game and turned it into a masterpiece.
Chell never got outside, when you shoot a portal at the Moon, it's obvious that it's midnight. The overgrowth through out the chambers are all green like vines and trees. Once you exit, all you see is a plain wheat field in the *middle of the day*. It's obvious that Chell never got her freedom...
I always cry when I hear this music start up, whether I'm in the game or not. It fills me with joy as Mel makes her way back out to the world, and leaves a bit of sadness because we have to leave Virgil behind to fend for himself as GLaDOS is found, awoken, and resumes her previous position of power.
I once watched someone play this game until the end... And when I saw the ending, I cried. I realised how depressing this whole thing was. And combined with this beautiful music, it made me tear up even more. Thank you for the amazing soundtrack, Harry.

that post credits cut scene bringing this and portal 2 full circle. You guys did what valve never could, you had a real passion for the games and made something new. Valve created the greatest disappointment of the 21st century in discontinuing the story, but at the same time, we would have never received this masterpiece. Portal Stories:Mel is a GAME (not a mod) to be remembered, and deserves way more than what it will ever receive.
After the whole game, I became really attached to the characters and this song in combination with an ending that felt earned, having to say farewell to a core that I had become emotionally attached to and just the lift ride up to the surface, all these made the game’s ending incredibly bittersweet. I don’t think a more perfect song could have been created for the last cinematic. Such a beautiful, emotionally charged moment.
Decades of science, from the most brilliant minds who have ever walked into Aperture Science, all wasted away. With one fatal accident, that costed the lives of every person in the facility. Maybe one day, we can all pick up where we left off. Make science from science like we used to. But I doubt it. The facility is in ruins. Earth has gone through hell. At this point, we're nothing more than a lost relic of the past.
I just finished my first play through of this and all I can say is that you and the rest of the team did an outstanding job on this mod, the story line, the characters, the voicing for them, and without a doubt this soundtrack. The ending scene of Aegis shutting down and Mel finally escaping brought me to tears, it was so beautiful but tragic at the same time. Everything about this mod is amazing 15/10.
The story the MUSIC the characters the voice acting the graphics and everything else. game design and level design, this felt like portal 3 and would accept it to finish the trilogy in a heartbeat. This had an amazing charm with so much heart put in it and the music is the best ive ever heard from a valve game and it wasnt even composed by valve. Thank you for the awesome tracks Harry. keep up the amazing work.
This fanmade mod is easily comparable to Portal 2, if not better. The effort and quality of PS:M leaves me speechless. It's also one of the only mods I've seen with a proper ending. The soundtrack adds so much to the experience. 10/10 would play again.
This song along with the scenery in the cutscene invokes a strong feeling of nostalgia.. Like, looking at how much the facility and world has changed since Portal 1
This track is beautiful Harry. Ive listened to it dozens of times and I still shed a tear when i hear it. Thank you mate, you worked your ass off and it paid off in spades. Beautiful.
That's the most beautiful song I've ever heard! A notes... like clock ticking that doesn't try to annoy. I didn't play this 'mod' but I've watched some walkthroughs. I was watching them till the ending and it made me sad. It was looking like humans is no more.
This song makes me tear up every time, same with The Best the World Had to Offer. Makes me miss playing for the first time, when the mystery was fresh, and sad that it's over. Just listening to this makes me wanna play again, but if I play again, that means it'll end again...
Goddamn. It’s not every day that music from a video game plays in my head forever, much less music from a mod. This track is incredible. Amazing work. “So… just… enjoy- the rest of your life. Look!- the elevator’s here! - See you later. Mel.”
It still makes me cry that Portal 2 was released 10 years ago...this would be awesome music for a "thank you" trailer from Valve.. Thank you, Harry for making this awesome soundtrack and for helping make my favorite Portal Mod yet..
Ever since I first played it, this game has been one of my favorite games ever, and this is one of my favorite soundtracks ever. You literally couldn't have composed a better piece to represent the ending of the game. The rest of the soundtrack is synthetic and computerized, whereas this piece is completely different. Entering the elevator, the song starts warming up with a melancholic tone. As you pass by the various wreck of Aperture Science, you feel a little sad, leaving behind Virgil and passing by the lonely test chambers, nature reclaiming the land the further you ascend. Then, the music hits big, you step out of the elevator, the song goes grand, you've finally escaped! The chorus adds to the grandeur of the piece, but the symphony adds a more natural tone, since you're no longer trapped in a completely artificial facility. Then, the tone shifts back to ominous and sad, once you realize the world is in complete ruin, and you remember how everyone Mel ever knew is dead. This piece is so perfect.
This wasn't only emotional looking at Mel. It was even more emotional for me. It is so mean that in the beginning you ride the lift and there is no sound at all, this track starts later and so does the rest of the sound. You just feel in shock, everything pauses for a second to accomodate your sadness. It was a greater connection than with other games, because I have lived in this game for a few days. And unlike other games, it wasn't quick fun after quick fun after quick fun. I really had ups and downs, it took real effort, sweat and endurance to get there. And if you go through many phases and twists and different states of mood, there will be memories. It really feels as if that made an impact on you while you were there. It feels like you lived there. And so, that elevator ride is also the transition back into the real world. You don't want to go, but the game tells you "look, it was a good time and you improved some of your skills, but now you have to go and do what really matters again... in real life".
0 dislikes. Harry this is how good of a composer you are. =) You made me become a true valve fan. You have shaped what games I like and play. Thank you. =)
When I first played Mel, I thought it was a mod. Maybe it was at one point, but it's gone above that. It's an entire game, made by extremely dedicated devs. Much like Black Mesa, it's a fan made game that is comparable to the official games themselves. Well done, Prism Studios!
This lets me release my traumatic Childhood i had but at 0:59 the way it sounds changes and its for me just like Life is getting better Thanks Harry i love your Portal Series
0:58 Mel is alone in a big, empty world... She left her new friend - kind, good and cute core Virgil, and she'll never see him 😭😭😭 It's very sad... I always cry, when i listen this music. Thanks, Harry, you made impossible thing ✨😭
When I was at the last part of the game and exited the facility, when I saw the Aperture Laboratories sign, I saw what I couldn't've unseen: "Ape Labor".
I've recently replayed all the Portal games and fan games I own. And minus Portal 2's Turret choir, none of them made me cry But this one did, and I think I may know why. It's not the story, or the hopelessness of Mel's situation. It's the shear dedication of this fanbase. The effort, creativeness, and skill in the Portal fanbase is like no other fan base I've seen! The amazing fan music, amazing Workshop maps and fan games, and how well made they are! People say games die off, but I don't see Portal 2 dying as long as grass can grow.
This music displays what it would feel like waking up, traveling through a massive facility, and nearly dying just to discover that humanity is dead and the earth is left to rot
I first heard this back in 2020, and loved it. Now, listening to it makes me remember quarantine and all the nostalgia I now feel for quarantine. I can't put my nostalgia down in words, but this song always somehow gives it to me.
“Even after decades of science, the world of man collapsed into a husk of its former self. But despite the setbacks, a glimmer of hope still remains within those who have the will to persevere, to carry on whatever progress we have made. No matter how faint, I hope you can see that there is still some shred of hope in this barren world. I wish I could join you in your journey, but unfortunately, this it the part where we bid each other farewell. May we cross paths again in the future someday.”
Honestly was justed stunned after finishing this mod. I think this could definitely be called better than the original game, and I thought _that_ was great. Congratulations, Harry, you’ve made something truly amazing.
I've played Portal Mel for the first time this year. I absolutely love the soundtrack. According to Spotify, Decades of Science is my 5th most listened to song of 2020 and that's no surprise. It's so gorgeous and uplifting I've often put it on repeat.
Let's see: Mel is completly free to go now, knowing that there are no signs of life, or human left, but remember that like Chell, at the ending, they could go anywhere! But the mel woke up BEFORE Chell, so we could say that Chell woke up ONE day after the Mel got free, but remember something, did THOSE timelines happened after HL2 Or during HL2? It would be sad for them don't see any other human or their loved ones, destined to die alone, or be with some AI, that can be close to a human, but they aren't humans, but humans are social creatures, or maybe Mel and Chell got killed by the combine during exploration, or maybe got finded by new civilization, and not everything was gone. The stories that Chell or Mel had to tell. Maybe they got killed, like nothing, or finded civilization.
+Blu Soli as i say, you could enjoy and live ALONE for the rest of your life outside, never knowing the dangers, or stay in aperture with a physco A.I. With thirst of human blood. It would matter to live like the last human?
It's like this: Half-Life 1 takes place in (approximately) 2000. Combine invade the earth, everything goes to shit. Gordon Freeman is put into stasis by the G-man. Alyx Vance is a baby at that point. In the meantime, GLaDOS takes over Aperture Science, killing all scientists. Portal 1 takes place in (approximately) 2010. Chell destroys GLaDOS and escapes (at that point, the Combine have taken over the earth) Aperture Science begins to decay. Half-Life 2 and its episodes take place in (approximately) 2020. Gordon Freeman is being put back on to earth and reks the Combines. Alyx Vance is in her late 20s at that point. ... A LOT OF TIME ... Portal Stories: Mel (NON-CANONICAL) takes place approx. 50000 years in the future, although there's no real mention of that from Valve or another official source. Right after Portal Stories: Mel, Chell wakes up from her sleep, Portal 2 begins. Mel and Chell are thus leaving the facility at roughly the same time (in ~24 hours of each other). Thus they do have the chance to meet each other. I hope this cleared up things for you!
***** What, the Resonance Cascade? According to the Half-Life Wiki the Resonance cascade could have happened anywhere between 2000 and 2009. It is assumed to have happened in 2003, however.
***** I am quoting from half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline This is the "year" during which the Black Mesa Incident occurs. Deliberately kept vague by the Half-Life team,[12] it could be any date from 2000 to 2009.
(While this song is playing I dream of a video reflecting on my previous dream videos, then cry) 😭 Thanks for the songs harry, I've been watching you videos when u had about 300, 000 subs
for a minute I thought the title was 24 decades of science, not just decades of science. but because of the corrosion it would've made sense. so that would be 240 years of cryogenic preservation, dam
I imagine Mel walking back along the train tracks from the begining of the game(aka chapter 1) on her way back to her house. Once she reaches it she sits down infront of the front door and sighs. The end.
Oh, I remember playing this one or two years ago, maybe? This game is really fantastic and HMMMM that soundtrack is good af! This one makes me feel nostalgic.
Oh gosh, Wheatly. He is nothing but trouble, but idiotically innocent. He wasn't trying to hurt anyone, but he almost killed everyone. And now he's in orbit of our moon 99999999 years later (Probably will run out of battery).
I think I have a habit of breaking games without being in the games. I, uh, did a roleplay with a friend and I decided to smash the ending rules....... now there is a Wheatley floating around in the universe within my head... (his actions and lack of complete intelligence sorta reminded me of my old dog in secret, which made the real ending hurt much worse for me, especially the first time I saw the ending.)
Pretty much the only thing I’m concerned about is how sad this is where Mel leaves or her pretty much best friend in a pretty much abandoned and trashy facility. It’s not fair to be a destroyed place when your best friend is that’s just not how friendship is.
When I saw the end sequence for the game, i cried. Until the slow zoom out on the surface, made me get goose bumps. You people really did make an amazing mod!
Amazing mod. Only thing I dislike is the confliction with Doug Rattmann's story at the end. Nevertheless, many props to the developers and Harry for making one of my favorite soundtracks to date.
It's kinda sad if you think about how all the beautiful memories of life are gone. All of humanity is extinct and earth is nothing but a wasteland of destroyed city's...
The game starts with Mel on a train in the middle of the night, and ends with the sun setting over a ruined entrance. This confirms my theory that Portal Stories: Mel takes place over the span of a day (and a few hundred years ig)
Anyone else revisiting this gem after 7 years? I was 13 when this came out. Now, 20 year old me is rewatching old let's plays of it and jamming to the soundtrack while all curled up in blankets just like old times. I remember hoping so much that a combine gunship would fly by in the background during the zoom out shot but I guess it makes sense to keep the state of the earth ambiguous.
If I was Mel, I'd rather stay in the facility.. I couldn't leave the Aperture.. it's just too sad for me. Also, if I left it, I would be in future.. Nothing as it was. And also, from the ending, it seemed like humans were dead after all.
+Nostra CZ Well if the world ended and there's no humans left than either the combine enslaved humanity and Gordon freeman fails I'm Hl3 or Humans killed each other in war
God, imagine this scene but with the Citadel in the background and combine architecture climbing it’s way over aperture labs. Armies of combine soldiers marching by. Millions of dropships and synths flying overhead. I know the combine is long gone after the events of this game but damn, just imagine if this were to be.
The ending is even more depressing because judging by the look of the buildings, this game takes place AFTER hl2, FAR after. Chances are either the resistance failed or they won, but the combine damaged earth too much for it habitable and they abandoned the planet in search of a new home (that may not even be in this universe). So Mel’s stuck in a dead world, the only place of salvation she could go to is run by a killer A.I., and she is in the middle of nowhere on a cosmic scale.
Sometimes I sit and listen to the soundtrack, and all of a sudden I remember it's fanmade. And as soon as I remember that, I think:
Why the heck hasn't Valve hired you?!

@goatsareevil and they almost did. Co op models used to be chell and Mel but now we have robots
@goatsareevil ohh... does that mean that PS:M 2 could be about Virgil?
Well, Virgil's battery would discharge after a day or few and then RIP Virgil. This way he now can live forever!
*big oops moment*
She might have gone back inside just to get Virgil.
This track combined with the scenes at the end of the game left me in shock, and I didn't tear up until after I'd turned off the game and listened to this track again.

It's NO WONDER WHY YOU GUYS GOT BEST COMMUNITY GAME OF THE YEAR!!! YOU GUYS MORE THAN DESERVED IT!!!! I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! ^-^
Today I completed the game for the first time. This ending really touched me. Thank you Harry for a great soundtrack.
Still makes me choke up almost every time. DAMMIT HARRY WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US.
I always find myself coming back to this soundtrack. You guys really made a classic.
0 dislikes. Harry this is how good of a composer you are. =) You made me become a true valve fan. You have shaped what games I like and play. Thank you. =)
This track is amazing
You left your friend alone and go to the world that already abandoned
You made me cry. Again.
Thanks...
This has always been my favorite from the soundtrack, I keep coming back to it even after all this time
When I first played Mel, I thought it was a mod. Maybe it was at one point, but it's gone above that. It's an entire game, made by extremely dedicated devs. Much like Black Mesa, it's a fan made game that is comparable to the official games themselves. Well done, Prism Studios!
This lets me release my traumatic Childhood i had but at 0:59 the way it sounds changes and its for me just like
Life is getting better
Thanks Harry i love your Portal Series
It keeps getting better as the years fly by.
0:58 Mel is alone in a big, empty world... She left her new friend - kind, good and cute core Virgil, and she'll never see him 😭😭😭 It's very sad... I always cry, when i listen this music. Thanks, Harry, you made impossible thing ✨😭
6 years, and not a single dislike.
this truly is the best video on TH-cam
Yes. It is. Im crying from too much watching the vid and the comments.
When I was at the last part of the game and exited the facility, when I saw the Aperture Laboratories sign, I saw what I couldn't've unseen: "Ape Labor".
Aperture Science presents: APES IN LABOR
Whenever I wanna replay the entire Portal series, I'm adding this mod to the list. This feels so official, oh my god.
I've recently replayed all the Portal games and fan games I own.
And minus Portal 2's Turret choir, none of them made me cry
But this one did, and I think I may know why.
People say games die off, but I don't see Portal 2 dying as long as grass can grow.
jeez dude this needs more likes
When I got to this point in the game, I cried.
For the first time in months.
Thank you, Harry.
Thank you. For this whole mod.
This music displays what it would feel like waking up, traveling through a massive facility, and nearly dying just to discover that humanity is dead and the earth is left to rot
Yes
Such a fitting OST to finish off the story. I miss Mel. What? I'm not crying your crying.
You don't cry if GLADoS didnt make the tear generator
my man you've created probably the best game soundtrack i have ever heard
As she was riding that elevator I was expecting a hopeful ending listening to this, but as soon as those minor plucks hit I knew something was up.
This song… it just feels so good… there’s something in my eyes…
I have no words for the amount of beauty and emotion this game holds. A truly amazing experience.
extended version is required, so nice
Honestly was justed stunned after finishing this mod. I think this could definitely be called better than the original game, and I thought _that_ was great. Congratulations, Harry, you’ve made something truly amazing.
Harry truly is a unique creator.
I finished this game back in September. I'm almost crying as I write this comment.
Thank you Harry for play puppet with my emotions!
I can imagine the Combine finding Mel wandering alone on the remains of Aperture Laboratories.
No matter what anyone ever says this song is so unbelievably fire still holds up an entire lifetime later 💪
I've played Portal Mel for the first time this year. I absolutely love the soundtrack. According to Spotify, Decades of Science is my 5th most listened to song of 2020 and that's no surprise. It's so gorgeous and uplifting I've often put it on repeat.
truly amazing work from you guys, great DLC and soundtrack!
What people seem to forget is that the apature campus was isolated, with a subway train needed to get there. Mel will be okay.
It's like this:
Half-Life 1 takes place in (approximately) 2000.
Chell destroys GLaDOS and escapes (at that point, the Combine have taken over the earth)
Aperture Science begins to decay.
+Pedro Clea after most likely
***** I am quoting from half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline
This is the "year" during which the Black Mesa Incident occurs. Deliberately kept vague by the Half-Life team,[12] it could be any date from 2000 to 2009.
Mel: What the hell happened outside?! I just sleep for a minute and I see this dystopia??
absolutely amazing music
*I can see the ending while the song is playing.*
I like to imagine that Mel meets Chell in Eaden (Blue Sky), and then everyone's happy.
Decades of Ductverts :p I wonder where you got inspiration for this track ;) Definitely think this is my favourite track you made for us xD
+LoneWolf2056 I think this the best of too :D
Just a question where did you get 2056?
+EthanRDoesMC look at his name.
Uncomfortable Bear ***** What I meant was why did you pick 2056 in your username? Any stories to share?
EthanRDoesMC maybe he went to that death countdown site and thastw ehn he will die?
5 years and not a single dislike...
I wish for the second part of this game with the soundtrack like this
And me🥺
(While this song is playing I dream of a video reflecting on my previous dream videos, then cry) 😭 Thanks for the songs harry, I've been watching you videos when u had about 300, 000 subs
GUYS THIS WAS NOT ME I WAS HACKED (jk)
I love this game so much! This track always makes me tear up a little it’s so good
for a minute I thought the title was 24 decades of science, not just decades of science.
but because of the corrosion it would've made sense.
so that would be 240 years of cryogenic preservation, dam
I imagine Mel walking back along the train tracks from the begining of the game(aka chapter 1) on her way back to her house.
Once she reaches it she sits down infront of the front door and sighs.
The end.
Oh, I remember playing this one or two years ago, maybe?
This game is really fantastic and HMMMM that soundtrack is good af!
This one makes me feel nostalgic.
Imagine making something so good that after 5 years it stills has 0 dislikes.
So far my favourite Track. I Love it so much especially with the secenes shown at the end of the Game. Love it.
WHY IS IT SO SAD :(. i wanna see Chell, Mel , Virgil ,and wheatley meet
Well virgil, chell and mel should meet but mel would not understand chell becouse(Shes from the 40s)
@@scrimbo5794 its a lie like the Cake shell is never Released in the world find more in "Thinking with Time machine"
Let’s make it happen!
actually no, I don’t want Virgil in space.
MEL AND CHELL LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN
Pretty much the only thing I’m concerned about is how sad this is where Mel leaves or her pretty much best friend in a pretty much abandoned and trashy facility. It’s not fair to be a destroyed place when your best friend is that’s just not how friendship is.
This is by far one of my favorite things from Harry. Or even my favorite thing.
It's the combine
+Tyler Abbott It kinda sucks to see how half life 3 will end up
+VenomousGaming Erm.... You do know that Portal Stories Mel is non-canonical...
+Le Reff portal in general takes place in half life so they are correct in a depiction of a waseland
+Le Reff I know but I'm just thinking about if it was in the real universe of Half life and portal
Good job with voice acting harry!
Aight so recently I found this OST for a show I'd never heard of called "Infinity Train" and it instantly reminded me of this OST.
I’m back after 8 years.. what a story.
I like this song bc its basicly telling us that mel has no idea whats on the outside and what she has to do
Great song harry i love it
The game starts with Mel on a train in the middle of the night, and ends with the sun setting over a ruined entrance.
This confirms my theory that Portal Stories: Mel takes place over the span of a day (and a few hundred years ig)
Best Mel track. By far.
(Well, The Best the World had to Offer was pretty good too)
Love this song. Extremely atmospheric
The Combine took over
You have to remember that GlaDos said that she saw humans outside when she had to check the turbines...
Yes, and you have to remember that GLaDOS is a good liar..
+Nostra CZ Well if the world ended and there's no humans left than either the combine enslaved humanity and Gordon freeman fails I'm Hl3 or Humans killed each other in war
VenomousGaming
War... War never changes
This played as I finished my first script for a college class. It felt so goddamn satisfying to hear this as I finished...
God, imagine this scene but with the Citadel in the background and combine architecture climbing it’s way over aperture labs. Armies of combine soldiers marching by. Millions of dropships and synths flying overhead. I know the combine is long gone after the events of this game but damn, just imagine if this were to be.
agreed
Half Life: Mel?
This song gives me da chills
Wow, 4 years later, not even a single dislike... Well done Harry, my favourite game soundtrack.
Its like you saw something you really dreamed of, and now its taken away/ruined.
I love listening to this song before I go to sleep. It's so soothing and relaxing. And by the way, loved the game.
This is not a mod’s soundtrack, it’s a game’s soundtrack!
The ending is even more depressing because judging by the look of the buildings, this game takes place AFTER hl2, FAR after. Chances are either the resistance failed or they won, but the combine damaged earth too much for it habitable and they abandoned the planet in search of a new home (that may not even be in this universe). So Mel’s stuck in a dead world, the only place of salvation she could go to is run by a killer A.I., and she is in the middle of nowhere on a cosmic scale.
its like the start is about the facility being dead for years, and then it coming back to life
