- After some recent utility work, our sidewalk was covered in utility marking paint that would not come off. Using Super Clean biodegradable degreaser, a scrub brush and a a pressure washer, I was able to remove 90% of the markings making the sidewalk look good again. #sidewalkcleaning #paintremoval #pressurewashing #thatdadmike

I think these companies should be required to remove their mess after they are done!!!!
Agreed. This stuff was not coming off (or even lightening up) after several days before I shot the video.
No i would find out the Guy or His boss where they live spray their front footpaths see how they feel about it.
@@ThatDadMikeyou said you waited a month and now it's a week.
if its a big deal to you call the company who did the locate ik some times they will send people out
Thank you so much for your help. Came off with ease.
Perfect, glad the video helped!
Entitled construction jerks. Right?
Great job Dad!
Thank you for sharing here. I have marks on the side of my home on some very expensive pavers and not happy with PG&E. They should use tape on aesthetic private property. Save the paint for streets and dirt.
I completely agree, its very frustrating!
We removed the same type of markings using just our pressure washer. No chemicals needed.
I wish that were the case on my markings. It seemed like they used a different type of paint this time that was very hard to get off the sidewalk.
Same here. Pressure washer didn't remove it at all. Usually it washes away over time; I guess they used the wrong paint this time.
Yup pressure washer didn't work for us either unfortunately.
What if I don’t have a pressure washer
It should still do pretty good but you may need to use a scrub brush a few times
Have you tried brake cleaner? It’ll melt the paint off real quick.
Quick way to kill the grass too which is what he was trying to avoid. But I'm with you, Brake clean is a magical multi-use tool.
nice job!
The sidewalk is owned by the city so why are you worried about it?
Thank you!
You're welcome - hopefully the video helps!
Awesome
Thank you!
Can it be removed with just the scrubber and grease remover?
You can certainly try. Usually this comes off fairly easy but this time I needed to use the degreaser and pressure washer.
Thank you
Your welcome!
@@ThatDadMike God bless you
You just needed a stronger power washer to get the job done. 3,000 PSI or better would have done the job done without chemicals, looks like you're working with about half that.
This one was about 2700 psi. Higher pressure would have helped for sure.
As a locator "I'll be back"
😁
Well then, complaints can made, and perhaps you will be the one to have to clean up the mess you created.
@@7kardia750 lol call it in.
For us it’s illegal to remove/tamper those markings 😂. Can get a company in trouble if they’re marking are not there. We take pictures to have proof we did
@@AtlasNine some of the paint marks people like you left were there for more than a year.
Why should the homeowner be responsible for removing these mark outs? They were made for VZ to install Fios in my development and instead of using temporary paint, permanent paint was used. It should not be the responsibility of homeowners or associations to remove these.
Completely agree!
Those jackssses sprayed that stuff on my driveway. Pressure washer wouldn't get it up.
Yes. That should be fine case. But they don't give a shit about the homeowner. I just called and they told me I have to wait for it to wash off and it's not washing off. I am so pissed at these optim and Suddenlink digging up my yard without asking me. I was told they have the right to the easement. It's bullshit and then I have to have my phone and internet disrupted with no compensation. I can't even afford their wifi and then I get bombarded with their soliciting mail. So angry😡
In a perfect world, you're right. We were promised so many things by the utility company when they came and moved our gas meters outside, but they lacked follow-through. I called Columbia Gas so many times, and they made so many promises, but ultimately, it was left to me to fix everything (my yard, the spray paint, messy concrete installs).
@alishasouslesoleil it's really unfortunate that this happens to be honest.
Utility men are so annoying they just do it to feel like it for whatever reason but then don't fix the marks. They take forever to go away unless you do something about it.
Careful with doing this. Check your states 811 laws first as removing these marks may be a crime, and may also make you liable for utility damages. Those marks are there for a reason.
To be clear, in my case the work was already completed and I removed them after over a month of waiting.
