    my mixer was on its side and leaked some oil. How do I know if there is enough? Or how do I add oil?

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A small amount of leak while on its side should be ok. If it leaks in the upright position it's probably time to change the grease. The grease that is used is thick like Vaseline - if it leaked a bit it likely separated and many say to run the mixer to mix it back together. Make sure it still sounds normal with no unusual sounds and that the motor does not feel hotter than you are used to. If you decide to open the mixer up and change the oil, here is a video that shows you how to do it on a tilt head KitchenAid mixer (it's a messy job but not all that hard to do :) ) th-cam.com/video/ND1b9P2iubg/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

    Good idea, and probably helps some. However, the 1/4" gasket will still not make contact with the lip on the cooler. That lip is 3/16" tall and the cavity in the lid is 1/2" deep. So, need a minimum of 3/8" tall gasket to make contact with the lip. Of course, 1/2" tall would make a better seal. I discovered this after purchasing and installing the 1/4" seal. . .

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good tip, I just checked mine and added the other half of the seal from the pack directly on top of the other one to get to 1/2" deep. It seals even better and now requires a slight push down when latching as it presses more firmly against the raised lip on the base.

    • @harveyfloyd6045
      @harveyfloyd6045 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ThatDadMike How'd that turn out? I kind of figure that'd be a mess and prone to slipping around / coming off. I've been trying and trying to find some 1/2" high by 3/8-7/16 wide without any luck. I can find 7/16 x 1/2" wide all over the place but, 1/2" would be just a little too wide for the lid cavity. . . I may give your solution a try. Thanks, Update: I did go ahead and double it, since I already had the seal. Seems like it'll work ok. Time will tell. I did find some 0.43" x 0.39"(H x W), about 11mm x 9mm, that I believe would be a better size. It would still make a good seal but not put as much pressure against the top. Anyway, we'll see. Sure better than it was.

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What I really liked about doubling it is it really seems to stick well on top of the other. We cleaned out our freezer today to defrost it and loaded up the cooler and I think it really worked out well. I really appreciate your suggestion - great teamwork!

      @@harveyfloyd6045 I got the same "Walmart Igloo"cooler in the 52 quart size I went on a two week trip and had to add about 7 to 10 pounds of ice in it daily. I considered it a major fail. I noticed that when tipping it to drain it, water leaked from the lid because there's no real seal. I went to Home Depot and Ace Hardware and all only saw that 5/16 by 1/4 inch rubber weatherstripping. Seemed way too small to me because the channel is 1/2 by 1/2 inch and I have been on a search for something closer to that with no luck in the stores. I have the same zt1 mower. I was able to source Rotary brand blades for it From Ebay for $11.42 each. So didn't seem worth it to change spindles. Also, the spindle bearings fail because the outside seals fail. They get contaminated and destroyed. Filling that void between the bearings doesn't add much life if any to the bearings imho. The bearings are easy and inexpensive to replace compared to a spindle assembly.

      See if you can find a website that sells the s shaped OEM replacement for your mower with the dimensions. Once you have the dimensions, you should be able to find the star pattern spindle that will replace it on the 8ten site (link in my video description). That's the process that I used and the 8ten spindles and blades have worked excellent. Partstree.com says that the spindle on your mower is an 619-04183B which is now a 719-07293-M. Double check the part number on your spindle and the dimensions as the cross reference may not work since you are changing from the s to the star. Here is one that appears to be used on a lot of 54" mowers - check and see if the dimensions are the same as what you have installed before ordering as it may not work: amzn.to/3XMMcxy

      I was not a fan of the factory rubber mats either. I think these are a great compromise. Keep an eye on the price on Amazon, they may run a Prime Day sale. Amazon will also allow you to submit that price to them and then they adjust it to match in most cases.

    Is there a reason you are not using the bleed screw adapter that comes with the kit to make it a tighter seal? Is it because, without the adapter, the hose is pointing more upwards? Thank you very much.

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! I found that it did not provide any additional benefit than the hose so I just decided to use the hose by itself.

      Murray is back in business. Saw a couple new Murray's in home Depot this year. Probably still owned by mtd though, nearly all box store mowers are made by mtd even John Deere box store mowers were up to a couple years ago.

    If you disassemble those spindles, you may find the bearings are still sealed on both sides, and you can't pump grease into a sealed bearing.

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's certainly possible. They seemed to take the grease well (one overflowed slightly where the shaft exits the spindle) and are cutting beautifully.

    Hello there, just to be on the same page, the order to bleed each line was 1. Driver 2. Passenger 3. Rear Driver 4. Rear Passenger?

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, I am not a mechanic but the school of thought differs on which one to do first. For my Honda, I did the driver, passenger, rear passenger and then rear driver. I don't think it matters too much, provided that you get as much of the old fluid out as you can.

    I have a 2022 Cub cadet XL1 46 inch deck riding lawn mower... I'd like to know what star spindles I would use... I would have never bought this lawn mower if I would have known about this...😮

    • @ThatDadMike
      @ThatDadMike 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was surprised as well, frustrated to be honest. The blades also only lasted 30 hours - I have never had a set last that short of time. With a new set over $70, I had to figure out something else. To get started, look at your spindle and get the part number off of it. Email that to 8ten and see if they have a star version replacement. If not, get the part number that they give you and then you can begin to look at dimensions to find a star that fits. It's a bit of work but once you are done, you will really like it. I have cut my lawn 3 times since installing and could not be happier. Here is one that appears to be for your model. Double check it to be sure and make sure to grease the zerk fittings before you mow if you end up buying them: amzn.to/3KBqFjj

    These honda self propelled mowers have a GIGANTIC FLAW! Honda in their infinite wisdom decided a tiny red straw inside the fuel line would work well as a fuel filter. NOPE! it lets crap clog up the tiny little jet inside the carb and your honda is dead in the water. So to avoid this issue you have to put a real fuel filter inline with the fuel hose. Unfortunately I have searched everywhere to find a super short filter with the right inlet and outlets...And let me tell you thats about as rare as hens teeth. The amazon filters i ended up with have a tiny inlet /outlet that are so short they only have 1 single barb so of course they pop off and let all your gas leak out. Had to JB weld the POS filter just to sort of get it to fit! And on a side note I cant stand the jig saw puzzle that is the carburetor and all the crap that mounts to it. I hope yall never have to take one off because you need 3 hands and some reference pictures to put the damn thing back together. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in honda. Will never buy another one of these mowers!!!!

    The filter should have arrow pointing down. Airflow top to bottom. 👍

    • @greghicks3508
      @greghicks3508 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ThatDadMike This is crazy confusing, but the OEM filter has an arrow on it showing which side of the filter should go up (just like the cover has an up arrow on it) which tells you to put the filter in with the up arrow pointing up. BUT most aftermarket filters have an "Air Flow" arrow which points in the direction air flow goes and in the Highlander air flows from top of dash area to the fan motor which is under the filter, so the filter should be installed with Air Flow arrow pointing down. If you still don't believe this, open the box up, remove the filter, hold on to a piece of paper about 4 inches long and turn on the fan. You will see the paper being sucked down into the fan motor, confirming air flow is from top of dash down toward the fan.

    • @ThatDadMike

      Super confusing is right - appreciate the heads up. I have added a note to the video description for everyone to double confirm airflow when using an aftermarket filter.
