Grand song for this exile far from Clare's shore - learned this in choir - and hear it at Saint Patrick's Day parades now and then - Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I learned this hymn in my childrens choir when I was it the 5th grade at St.Peter school in New Castle, De I am surprised that I remembered so much of it. thank you.
The last time I saw him was at our parish here in Milton in April 2000, just a few weeks before he passed away. God bless Frank Patterson and all Irish performers.
I love the songs, they have a little bit of majesty and longing about them. Havent been in a church for quite a while, but I still love to hear some gregorian chant, so calming. We are so lucky to have all kinds of music from nice gentle music all the way to the triumphal prasing music. I will listen to all of it and enjoy most of it.
My wife Florence has some Irish ancestry and checked out a Frank Patterson CD from our local library the other day. She just adored it and so did I. (My ancentry is German and Norweigan , although I love operas in all languages.:-) I am going to order some of his recordings from our local Barnes and Noble and give them to her for Christmas. Thank you for this posting.
William Kane..I digress slightly from your opinion.."If one is born in a stable, it doesn't make one a horse, eg. Eamon DeValera was born in NYC...Please don't ask me to expand , as the best of all was born in a stable..To " Our Lady " the finest woman to ever grace this planet..God Bless You..
Ah! the memories of this Faith of our Fathers Concert in Carnegie Hall! and to see the lovely Johnny Tate conducting!! a great experience for myself and the dozen+of us members of Carlow Choral Society, who were part of the Irish Philharmonic Chorus who provided the backing choir for the Concert!! Magic! a pity the video doesn't show the backing chorus!! Incidentally, all of these hymns are available on the Faith of Our Fathers CD, which should still be available!! Amazon etc!
At our English R.C. Convent boarding school many of the teachers were Irish nuns. We dreaded St Patrick’s day when we had to line up and have them pin soggy bunches of shamrock to our blouses, which then soaked us through to the skin for the rest of the day.🤯
I’m in Scotland, of Irish descent and as children we received boxes of shamrock from our Irish cousins and we proudly wore them to school on that day. Never thought of them being wet and soggy!
I was taught this at St Benedicts School in Easterhouse Glasgow, we used to sing it on the bus going to the Celtic games & at the match, never sung better when we were beating rankers, which was all the time when i was a young bhoy, Hail Hail
Hail Glorious Saint Patrick...My Patron Saint ! I am So proud to be Catholic ! and Irish ! And scottish ! With all this going for me ...I canny go wrong!
How good is it to be a Catholic? St. Patrick is just as valid in the Protestant faith. Happy Paddy's Day to Muslim,Jew, Christian & non believers alike. Sure everybody in the graveyard votes the same.
Those "nice men" who were Christian Brothers" forced us to sing this song at school in Wigan. The religion I was taught just reminds me of the Taliban now. Love freedom hate religion.
Continuing … Section 13.2 > Catholic Dogma on automatic excommunication ... for physical participation in a heretic cult such as the vatican-2 cult Section 19.1 > Dogma on Abjuration for re-entering Christianity (the Catholic Church) … Formal Abjuration also provided here. Section 13.3 > Matt 16:18, Gates of Hell scripture ... is not about the Papacy ... defined at Constantinople II Section 10.2 > Returning to state of grace, in places and times when Confession is not available, like now

We in the UK were not allowed to celebrate Holy Mass in our own St Patricks church due to it falling in Holy Week.A great loss.
