For me 85/86 was peak Christmas. Modern T.V can only dream of replicating the sense of occasion of this. Thanks for uploading!

I was born in July 1985, so this would have been my first Christmas, I would have been six months old when this aired. Mum and dad used to love Noel's shows on the BBC, from Swap Shop to Late Late Breakfast Show to Saturday Roadshow to House Party to Telly Addicts

Noel said "or in Eire" at 0:50 - why? Well in Ireland (Eire) their second national channel RTE 2 always simulcasted live Noel's Late Late Breakfast Show on a Saturday night and they simulcast this edition on Christmas Day on RTE too.

What a fantastic outside broadcast a bit loose the edges but that’s what makes it fantastic you can see times changing would like mobile phones and rules about competitions and all the rest of it but Noel is so good at holding and anchoring something like that and it is definitely something that needed again I guess the Christmas presents was the development of the format although there is definitely a need for both really and this is absolutely brilliant

So what I’ve worked out is there are two sort of Christmas shows in this late late breakfast C format and then two years of studio-based Christmas shows and then it went into the Christmas presents for 10 years on the bbc

So for £10,000 BT (and Cellnet) got 2 hours advertising to 18 Million viewers, not a bad bargain!

I never quite got the logic of BT advertising anyway, it was the only phone service in the UK.

Remember when we were so 'edgy' we all looked down on this as trite and lame? Now look at us, desperately lacking in anything wholesome, wall to wall degeneracy, like it or not we've lost something profound in lifes backdrop whether we watched it or not it was at least comforting to know it was still there, if only to sniff at, wholesome is the new counterculture

Nice to see a full edition of this show. Remembered for all the wrong reasons, but this was a very good show on a Saturday evening - exactly the kind of thing we need more of these days and less of Simon Cowell... =(

Noel was well disappointed that the majority of the aid workers in the camp were Irish...cut them off promptly.

Fantastic product placement for BT. Don't think anyone would get away with that today. Accept that charity benefited but did people, other than those living alone, seriously have nothing better to do on Christmas Day than watch this crap.
