Im making my own solder hot plate using your method but with other items.
As the thermo will be halved to 50K, im guessing if I needed the hot plate to be 120c id need to set the w1209 to 60, or if needed 220c id set it to 110c? Thanks.
Hi Doyle. Im not sure what are you exactly asking, but i understand that you want to use this thermoregulation method to another project. No, its not making two times higher temp. Im not sure, but it seems its tripling a temp. When Im setting 70deg C, Im getting about 210 deg C. But this dont have to be linear. O dont tested it yet. (Not needed in my case)

Instead of the Heat Cartridge i'll be wiring a heat plate instead which needs to be around 120 - 160c.
Now I have a starting point of 70c on the w1209 is around 210c. Thanks again.
Hi, does the filament, that the machine produces, have a full section?
A Curious thing that 1N5408 diode, is thats anytime it turns very hight temperature more than 300º, do you know why this happens and W1209 does not read right temperature?
Few questions on this. 1, where do I order the heat nozzle holder? 2, what wire do you use?
This design is really great, I love that you're using easier to get electronics instead of reusing 3D printer components. My only concern is the temperature at which you actually extrude the filament, I'm not sure about using this thermocontroler with a diode and external thermometer method. Could I replace it with a REX-C100 coupled with an SSR? I think it should work better since it actually allows for higher temperature range by default. Congratulations for such a great project and thanks in advance!
Hi, thank you for your comment and suggestion. The W1209 could be setted to much higher temperatures, then Im actually using. Its only my setting to get the best result wit filament. Now I have another great part for replace and all the electronics for the next build. But I have to wait and until it arrives. Then I need some time to testing and redesigning. It will be great 👍
idk if its the strips im using but it does not melt the pet to pull to puller?
Hello, I followed exactly what you do in the video and yet the temperature remains around 92°. Could you tell me how to change this? I'm stuck despite the answers I've seen.

Just waiting on the motor now! Have you tried to "splice" ? The strips from two bottles together? One small cut at each end, lock them together and maybe melt them just a second with a soldiering iron?

Standart .4mm nozzle drilled with 1.5mm drill bit. Sad, but there is no 1.75nozzle on the market. Please watch Petamentor part 8- the nozzle👍

Hi I personally thik, that is better to build your own. It will cost you less and you can teach yourself something. Where are you from?
I suggest for hot end stand something more simple and easy to find in store, still thinking about some parts from 3d printer what can be replaces, I spent today in my garage almost 1 hour trying to make something similar how is in video but without success. Hard part is to make correct angle and warp steel to make holder for thermostat what is going on top of the heat block. I think there is some heat block for 3d printers with 2 big holes, so in that way no need to put it on top.
I agree. This part can be pain for somebody. Thil L profile can be founded in your local hardware store (iron parts shop?). I will take a look across the aliexpress and others... it may be available for all of you... thanks for suggestion 👍
@@OndrejSraitr yes, I bought in iron shop, mine is not L profile it was straight with 4 holes piece of steel...maybe should try to find softer material, like aluminum 3-4 mm and maybe can be more easy to build stand

Do you know what can be a problem, I set temperature controller following your instruction, start with warming up and just turn off when reach 126C, and just keeping on and off
Is this temperature what is showing w1209 or thermometer? Thermometer needs to be fixed tightly to the heatblock (or holder) to show exact temp. If you need to set higher temperature simply press (one short press) left button on w1209 and add some higher temp, then wait a little bit to raise the temperature. If will not be enough, try to add more. Let me know if youre solved the problem👍
@@OndrejSraitr temperature is showing on display of thermometer and on bord show 50, everything is tight about cables and now nor working at all, is any way to reset and to start from beginning?
The last thing you have to do is manually set the temperature... Have you a messenger? (Johnny Noodle -with white headphones on the head) 😉
@@OndrejSraitr look like I find problem, the problem was with connector for thermostat, just need to fix that somehow, I try to remove connector and put it back on board and there making a problem
Yes, some w1209 have their conectors mounted backwards!🤦🏿 I have two of these and theire working in other direction (I wrote this info into wiring diagram). Thank you for your feedback!♥️👍
About temperature, what temperature work well 250c, I saw in video you set on 89
No no, this is max temp! you have to set it once before you start to use. I have to make one more video with some explanation. Im using 210- 220degrees. If you set a lower temp, you can destroy a puller (motor joint). You can print a new one, if it happens to you 😉

Hi used nozzle was some 0.4 nozzle (drilled with 1.5mm drill bit). Hope it helps

Hi Jose,
The temperature is naturally going up and down, since we are not using expensive PID thermocontroller solution. W1209 is only thermostat, that is allowing only turning on and of the temperature on setted number. PID is realtime calculating speed of rising and falling temp, so its more stable. W1209 is suitable for our needs very well 😉. Have nice day

From where is the smoke comming? If its from the heatblock, its normal for few first minutes. What is your temp on nozzle?

I set up everything like you, but it doesnt stop heating, it reach more than 120°C and continue to heat. All my wires are dones correctly

Pozdravujem, nemas skusenost zo Arduino Mega 2560. Kym mi pridu tvoje komponenti chcel som sprevadzkovat arduino, teplota mi pride do 160 C a potom to vypise: Heat ing failed. Neviem kde je chyba
Ahoj, arduino mega jsem pouzil poprve bez zkusenosti ve svem prvnim buildu. Vse probihalo hladce, jen jsem zkompiloval marlin a naflashoval ho. Bohuzel jsem se s nicim nepral, nic takoveho jsem neresil
@@OndrejSraitr uz 3den nemozem prist preco to nechce ist. Program nahrani , nacita gcode ,dam nahriat a dojde to no 160C a vypise chybovu hlasku. vymenil som uz topne teleso + snimac teploty no nepomohlo to. Cakam na tvoje komponenty aby som to zacal skladat.

Greetings Friend, I have problems with the W1209, I have the same configurations that you have in the video, but I cannot reach temperatures above 100 degrees, it may be a problem with the diode, or what part may be causing it not to reach the desired temperature ?.

@@jonatanparra3700 si, cuando seteas los los parametros po, mantienes apretado el boton set, pero para setear la temperatura solo tienes que apretar una vez y subir la temperatura he ir revisando la pantalla de arriba, puesto que esa es la que te muestra la temperatura real

@@jonatanparra3700 luego has clic solo una vez en set, luego subes con el botón mas hasta 80 y revisa la temperatura en ma pantalla superior

Ahoj, dekuji👍. Urcite tu cast, na kterou se nasazuje civka. Motor ma silny kroutici moment a prvni kus (2steny + 10% infill) mi prasknul. Zkousel jsem ho zabrzdit rukou. Druhy kus pak v jednom videu drzim rukou a cely stroj se otaci. Talze pro jistotu 100% infill.
where can i buy heatblock stand ?
I bought it in local hw store. This part is up to your imagination and abilities 😁. Its a very simple L profile. You need only one hole on each side. One for fixing to a platform, second for moutning a heatblock with the nozzle. Hope you can DIY this piece by your own. 👍
@@OndrejSraitr Yeah like we can use a little 90 degrees andle iron or simple shelf bracket the smaller ones :) your design is simple and straightforward and functional!! thats how i like it!
Hello I've a problem with my controller, when I finish ths settings, it displays L L L
And I tried ti switch the polarity but it didnt work
i make it to work, I double check all cables how is connect and also figure out that my w1209 have additional settings P7 and P8, on P6 there is no On and Off....so, I need to adjust on P7 66.7 and on P2 89.0, very strange but work now and I get temperature around 210C, another problem...now I am good with temperature 😁, another problem, trying to put plastic strip 6mm, hole from block is 8mm but only beginning of hole on block and can't get out plastic nice, look very ugly, and no way to pull it, melting a lot...to put temp lower?
Hi, thats a step forward 👍😁. Ok, Im inserting plastic strip with cold heatblock, because if its hot, its melting and cant go thru. Try to lower temperature. But its very strange that you cant pull stripe...if you see bubbles in filament, thet means too high temp. And Im using 9mm stripe fro the most bottles. Only Coke bottles (theyre thicker) are cutted for 7mm strip.
@@OndrejSraitr I just thinking, hole of the heat block is not big enough, I drill it with step drill, maybe I should use regular drill bit 8 mm ( I can't drill it with 10 because I will destroy wall of the heatblock, hole is not on good place, I will try different heatblock who have more space around hole) so point is plastic strip can't go easy inside because of dimension of hole. Also how you drill hole of the heatblock?, did you put nozzle first to secure thread, not to screw up thread of the block?

Mám dotaz dělám podle vás školní projekt ale vyskytla se chyba kterou nedokáží rozluštit zapojil jsem vše podle vás dokonce jsem si koupil vše z vašeho seznamu součástek ale u w1209 modulu po zapnutí místo jak máte ve videu -24 nebo celkove teploty vidim L L L a relé v modulu mi nespína heater děkuji za odpoved
Zdravím, LLL je chyba na vstupu snímání teploty. U některých verzí modulu se stává, že je otočený konektor senzoru, může to být otočená dioda na snímači, nebo kombinace obojího. Nejdříve zkuste změnit polaritu vodičů na senzoru (prohodte dráty).
@@OndrejSraitr děkuji nějak jsem se v tom hrabal a už je to opraveno děkuji za tutorial na filament Machine dělal jsem to jako rocnikovou práci a všem z mistrů se líbí takže ještě jednou děkuju za skvělej nápad

Have you setted your w1209 properlly? Double chceck your wiring. If everything seems to be ok on your side, then your w1209 could be faulty. Its very cheap product and a few users are reporting problems with this. 😕

Dnes som sa dal do skladania . Všetko pozapájane len mi to nehreje trysku, Všimol som si ,že tebe pri zapnutí na display zasiatí -24 , no mne svietia LLL. Čo mam skontrolovať . Motor sa točí ,regulácia otáčok funguje, len ta teplota nejde.
Zkus prehodit kontakty na diode 😉

ne, jen kontakty na konci. mam vic modulu w1209 a neexistuje pravidlo, ze vstup pro thermistor ma stejnou polaritu
