    What do you guys think of this concept good or bad?

      I would add a couple of things. The first is to find people to serve as journalists so their written articles can accompany the photo galleries. Some pro teams will give you a chance to prove yourself but they will review your content at some point during, at the end of the season, or prior to the start of the next season. Second, for colleges, get on their media list by sending them the URLs of the content you create. This can be done by tagging them on social media. Third, Be Visible by showing up for an occasional practice or press conference. Lastly, follow the rules if/when you do get in but don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Shoot where you can and make them your top priority. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

    Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I have a question, when the media people get your request, I think one of the first things they ask is what your photos are going to be used for? What is purpose? What is your reply? This is a key part of the whole proceedure. Thanks again.

    Wow this is such great information, I have been shooting everything since 2000, I love shooting sports but I also love shooting everything else. I have a great name but you taught I need to build a brand. I have tried so hard for so long to get on the field for the Florida gators football games but close doesn’t count. Your information is priceless, I am so glad I found your video. I have a lot of content I can use now if local sports so I am going to give this a go. Thanks a million for making this video

    One piece of advice is to start small. By that, I mean you probably won't be successful going to a Division I school and asking for a sideline pass for football or men's basketball as your first request. Think of the less covered sports. I started my DI access doing rowing and women's tennis, then moved into volleyball. Although I now do some football, I find that I personally like baseball and volleyball the best and concentrate there. Remember that all those athletes have parents who want photos, and the sports information people love shots of the 'lesser' sports because they get panned by so many photographers who only want to get access to football or MBB.

    Ricky talk about how to repost content

  • @woolybugger1962
    @woolybugger1962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hold on...having a friend pretend they are your Editor so you can get credentials is essentially committing fraud!! Curating (aka. reposting other peoples posts) is pure rubbish. You don't think the Media Relations Department of a club is not going to see that you are just reposting. Sorry Ricky this scheme is bogus!!

    • @ShootBetterSports
      @ShootBetterSports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching, all I know is it worked for me and landed me some opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. You call it fraud, I call it a loophole!

    • @seanberryphotography
      @seanberryphotography 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShootBetterSports Nah, it's definitely fraud.

    • @LuisGarcia-036
      @LuisGarcia-036 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a matter of perception. If he got that person to review and provide feedback on his photos before he published them, then that is a de facto editor for him.
      If she didn’t do anything but answer a phone call, then it’s more of a farce.
      Photography is a very gatekeeping field- if you don’t know someone in the right position, it’s hard to get in; methods like this become necessary to get around the obstacles other people put up- it’s no different than when you add flair to your job resume- you weren’t inventory recovery/loss prevention operations director, you were a bus boy lol

    • @ShootBetterSports
      @ShootBetterSports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LuisGarcia-036 what doing this did for me was get me pass the gatekeepers! I had the skills just needed the opportunity, so I created one!

    • @aapatton
      @aapatton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShootBetterSports And it is because of situations like this that gatekeeping exists in the first place. Fraud is not the way to get credentials. This is a hard business, don't take shortcuts.
