I always thought Dark Forest kind of sounded like what Ritchie Blackmore might have produced if he went in a more metal direction, instead of a Renaissance direction. A fantastic band, thank you all for your music.
I heard about this from the Powerful podcast, otherwise I would have never known about it. I got chill bumps from the opening of Skylark, this is fantastic!
‘All aboard the Skylark’ As ever the Fozz delivers! Punctuated perfectly with the earthly and mystical feel of a full blown Dark Forest album. Winnard’s vocals, ever evolving fit effortlessly with Horton and Jenkins’ styles which I feel contain some faint whiffs of a new, enticing, yet distinctly Fozz direction, particularly notable in Skylark. Maybe that’s just to my ears though! The able and dynamic drummer Sidaway manages the shift from thumping drive to subtle compliment across the whole overall showing how well interconnected and on top of their game these players are. My only complaint… too short! Thank you gentlemen.
The singer sounds like Bruce Dickinson. But he still has his own voice. The music sounds like a combination of Iron Maiden and Dragonforce. I really like it! Horns up to you 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Imagine if you will, a universe where Running Wild decided instead of writing about pirates and the high seas, that they'd be a band who sang about fantasy themes with a slight folk bend, and got Bruce Dickinson to sing for them. I've no complaints, whatsoever, this is absolutely grand and my only disappointment is that the vinyl is already sold out!
Hell yeah, man! Running Wild are the fucking kings of old school/power metal. Glad to see there are bands that are carrying their legacy. You should check out Blazon Stone, they are a band inspired heavily by the mighty RW. This EP and Dark Forest fucking rule one of the best new trad metal bands out there.
Good quality folk tinged metal in a Maiden meets Running Wild kinda way with a dash of The Lord Weird Slough Feg thrown in but managing to retain a distinctly Brit flavour. Have liked this band for a while and they certainly haven't disappointed here. Most enjoyable.
The black metal band by the same name out of Canada is pretty great more. I keep trying with these guys but I might as well listen to Visigoth and have a better time
I'd like this if they would re-record the drum part. That incessant double-bass pedal nonsense is annoying and detracts from the music. I love the rest of it, but the drums ruin it for me.
