Wow this list is incredibly different from every other AC favorites list I've seen! I guess it just goes to show how much her books cover a wide range of tastes!
Hello! I'm so glad to hear that someone except me too loves Five Little Pigs so much!! I too have it as my first favorite. The most interesting thing which in this book and not in other books is that this one it's a historical crime which Poirot has to solve and the recalling of everyone of that tragic events of sixteen years ago! And the solution and explanation to that case is also superb! Thank you for your video!
I love Sad Cypress, too! In my mother tongue (Italian) it's "La parola alla difesa" (I don't know how to translate it, "The word to the defense" but maybe "The defense can talk" is better). I empathized a lot with Eleanor and I think that the plot is breathtaking! Thank you for your video!!!
I've just discovered your channel and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for doing them. And thanks especially for introducing me to another AC book: curtain!!!! I cannot wait to get into it!
I totally agree with you about 'Five Little Pigs' as it's my favorite AC also and I didn't see the solution coming at all! It was so brilliant! And seeing Carolyn Crayle from 5 different perspectives was, to me, fascinating!
The less Miss Marple is actually in a Miss Marple book, the better the book. I don’t really like her, but I do like The Moving finger, Easy to Kill, and 4:50 to Paddington. I adore Poirot, and like a book more the more he is in it.
Thank you for sharing your favorites with us! I really appreciated your 'Top 11' 😉 I'm not going to comment on whether I agree or disagree with your choices, because they are YOUR choices and not mine. I will say that some of your choices really confirmed those I share my passion with you and your others really made me want to explore them more closely. I've seen all of the ITV 'Poirot' episodes (except 'Curtain'. Just can't bring myself to do it!) but I have not read all of the books. You have made me want to read some of those that are your favorites that I have not read yet. You inspired me!
I adore a Caribbean mystery! It’s funny because I normally hate it when Miss Marple is outside of her usual comfort zone but it just really really works happening on this far away island amongst strangers. My only criticism of it is that it is far too short - I think it’s one of her shortest ones - and it needs at least a couple more chapters. the end is too skimpy. That always disappoints me every single time. Ahhh well…!
I always feel like picking up an Agatha Christie novel after hearing you talk about her. I've mostly only read Poirot and a few standalone novels, but I really need to start Marple as well. I agree with you on Crooked House, even though I found the ending a bit obvious it's still my favourite standalone that I've read. Great video.
Just loved your video ❤️ it is so hard to make a top ten of Agatha Christie's books! A Caribbean Mystery is my favourite Miss Marple too 😍 I haven't found the courage to read Curtain yet. 😔
I’m so glad that I found you. I started my channel in late August on my 70th birthday. I read all of these books in my 20s but have a need to reread them and will do on my channel in 2021. I rememberThe names of those books and am glad That they aren’t the usual ones. I have a need to buy them and re-read them. I took out cards on the table from the library which is the favorite of many book to Paris but didn’t enjoy it as much as other books that I had forgotten the name of. Thank you so much for bringing my happy past of reading Agatha ChristieBack to me. Aloha, Maya
I really like " A Caribbean Mystery " as well !! How did you enjoy the " Sequel " book -- " Nemesis ?? " It has Miss Marple taking on a challenge of sorts from the millionaire from the original story !! The late millionaire has a mystery for Miss Marple should she choose to accept to undertake the " Mission !! " ( There is even a nice scene involving a pink cap at the ending !! ) Of course , Miss Marple agrees to " Take It On " as one of the man's lawyers expresses it after giving Miss Marple has left for her mission from a dead man !!
After watching many of your Agatha Christie videos I finally started reading her novels and now I can't stop! I am loving them! So far, Murder at the Vicarage is my favorite and I'm excited to get to the other ones you mentioned.
Yes I was a little surprised at your list but pleased by it - I enjoy hearing people list different ones for different reasons rather than following the usual crowd. I’m afraid though that my absolute favourite by a mile is that age old favourite and then there were none. In my own ranking there is such a gap between that one and the rest that the rest of my top 20 are almost all on the same ranking level so it’s really hard to actually rank them beyond putting them in a general group. I’ve heard some presenters say that their top favourites could be interchanged - I suppose we all feel that way to a degree. I notice I tend to like the ones with the highest body counts LOL!! perhaps why I like and then there were none so much!
I love Mrs McGinty’s dead also. I Keep re-listening to the audiobook over and over. What is it about that story? I think it has the perfect balance of humour and creepiness and lots of suspense and the charm of Ariadne although I hated Ariadne Oliver when I was a teenager but as a more mature person I absolutely love her! 💕
My favourite is Five Little Pigs too! I love that book so much, I've even seen a play of it at the theatre (Go Back for Murder) - it is the best. It makes me feel something too - brilliant brilliant storytelling. I don't think any Marple books would make my top 11, but I agree that Peril at End House and Mrs McGinty's Dead are great ones! Massive fan of Agatha Christie.
i'm relieved about your crooked house review- i just bought it and realised soon after that i'd seen it on tv so i know who the murderer is. good to know that it's enjoyable anyway and i'll still give it a go!
I just read the Tommy and Tuppence series for the first time and my favourite was N or M. I know it's not particularly well-loved, but I enjoyed the wartime intrigue.
My top 10 1. Appointment with death 2. Why didn't they ask Evans 3. Lord Egware dies 4. The Hollow 5. Murder in the Orient Express 6. ABC Murders 7. Taken at the Flood 8. Seven dials mystery 9. They do it with mirrors 10. Ordeal by Innocence
I love your favorite eleven list! As soon as I finish posting this, I'm going to pull every single one from the book shelves and stack them up next to my bed for a nice long Agatha Christie read-a-thon. ~Vicki
I’ve read Murder on the Nile and They do it with mirrors and I definitely want to read more And i Love the Miss Marple movies with Margareth Rutherford
I don't know Sad Cypress. A new one to read. There are so many good Agatha Christie books I keep changing my mind about favourites. I agree Five Little Pigs is stunning, but there are two of my best loved books you didn't mention. I love the Julia McKenzie tv version of A Pocket Full of Rye. But my top pick remains Sleeping Murder. I always find it intriguing as it seems to start as a "cosy", but ends up quite dark and tragic.
I've just bought Sad Cypress. Well, in French it's "Je ne suis pas coupable" (I'm not guilty). I like your list, so different from the other ones I've seen or read on the web. I should give a chance to "Five little pigs".
I just started reading Agatha Christie. Your list helped me a lot & you explain very well. I'm going to read your top 5 on the list. Any particular order or it doesn't matter?
I love these need to get some more books but find it hard finding some of them but I live in Australia cause some places have most of them but it’s hard finding one if looking that they don’t stock . Love these videos .cause I hear about some stories more then others.the older ones I seem to like more then the new ones.
This was a refreshing list. Most are not usually promoted. 3 comments: 1. Your thoughts on Tommy and Tuppence? 2. Curtain: yes brilliant in every way, yes IMPOSSIBLE to ever watch the Suchet version again. It made me depressed! Forget it! But the book is poignant and well written. 3. Thanks for saying Caribbean!!! No one ever says this one but why?? It's so charming and readable and chock full of the Mighty Miss M. My only complaint: this book is too short. She could have had a few more chapters without harming it in any way. Good list! Tho for whatever reason I've never taken to End House.....didn't like the main character perhaps.... not sure.
I've only read 5 poirot books and a couple of miss marple books so far... I enjoyed the Orient Express very much... Also Roger Ackroyd was very good too...
I love your list, without agreeing with all of it.. But so happy about carribbean mystery, hickory dickory, five little pigs. you seem to like the psychological art of dame Christie. But how about THE HOLLOW ? so dramatic and great and even funny , dear Lucy. And the ones settled in archaeological background?
Just wanted to say hello, I’m a new subscriber and I too live everything Vintage. Do you use a Vintage handbag everyday if so would love to see what’s in my bag video x
Five little pigs is one of the most interesting Agatha’s. I used to absolutely hate it but more recently I can at least appreciate it - and at times I even enjoy it. And I will say it’s a fantastic, earthquake of an ending. But the build up and the process is extremely technical - one of her technical masterpieces to be sure - but as you say it’s perhaps meant for those who enjoy a very slow and very detailed story. It’s like watching Groundhog Day the first time through but then the second time reading it you actually see the differences in the accounts and there are your clues. It is definitely a brilliant piece of work and a masterpiece but I find it too tedious to be in my top 10. I keep moving it around in my ranking depending on my mood LOL! I dislike the Suchet adaptation - they made too many changes and it’s stylistically irritating. I hate the camerawork and the sepia tones and the choppiness. Okay - time to go and listen to Caribbean mystery once again ha ha ha ha. Thanks for an enjoyable video 💕💕
I would say to either pick up her autobiography or there is a graphic novel called Agatha which I have done a review of on my channel that was a really concise view of her life
Here are my top 16 choices (7 Poirot novels, 2 Miss Marple novels, 2 Tommy & Tuppence novels and 5 other novels :-) Top 7 Poirot (very hard to pick but here we go): 1. Hercule Poirot's Christmas 2. Curtain: Poirot's Last Case 3. Five Little Pigs 4. Murder on the Orient Express 5. Elephants Can Remember 6. Death on the Nile 7. The Murder of Roger Acroyd Top 2 Miss Marple: 1. Sleeping Murder 2. A Caribbean Mystery Top 2 Tommy & Tuppence: By the Pricking of My Thumbs N or M? Top 5 others: Giant's Bread (Mary Westmacott) Endless Night Crooked House And Then There Were None Death Comes As the End
Appointment With Death, and Murder in Mesopotamia; also Postern of Fate and They Came to Baghdad.. Not a usual choice group, but must say any Marple book always rates high
I remember loving curtain as a teenager. But as a more mature adult I just cannot make myself re-read it after seeing the odious Suchet production - what a depressing production. I know Agatha‘s publishers would not let her kill off Poirot in her lifetime, hence the posthumous publication. I still don’t think I can go there. And like you I will never watch the adaptation again! I feel like I just need Poirot to be younger stronger and kind of invincible. That’s what I find comforting and enjoyable. Why ruin it?? I’ve decided I really don’t believe in arcs! 🤢
@@lilsvintageworld it's ok😊. For me it's the best because it's my first Poirot and he is brilliant there! I was waiting for this video, so happy that you love Christie's! Do you more love Poirot novels or Marple?

it is a very good read :)

"I know it's not usual student life to get murdered, but hey ho." Brilliant! ❤️
haha!!
My top Agatha's book of all time is "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd"
I agree with you
Went and got two of your suggestions today from the library. Love your channel

After the Funeral is an underrated gem
I always feel like picking up an Agatha Christie novel after hearing you talk about her. I've mostly only read Poirot and a few standalone novels, but I really need to start Marple as well. I am not a bit fan of Nemesis sadly, but I adore a Carrabien Mystery!!

Great list and god video. Several of those would make my Top 11, especially Sad Cypress and Caribbean Mystery. (You missed Body in the Library)

Wonderful review! I still cannot bring myself to read or watch “Curtain”. Love Agatha Christie (Poirot and Miss Marple). Thank you!
it makes me cry every time!! haha

None of my particular favorites were on your list. Still, I like your enthusiasm and enjoyed your video.
Five Little Pigs is a brilliant book!
it is!!

I haven’t read much AC-only And Then There Was None and Murder on the Orient Express. I always enjoy hearing about your love of her though!
Thank you
I found someone who loves the same Agatha books as I do. Maybe in slightly different order but the same ones.
I cannot bring myself to read or watch Curtain.

Yes, I have read her plays but have not done a video on them yet, will add to the to do list :)
I've only read 5 poirot books and a couple of miss marple books so far... I enjoyed the Orient Express very much... Also Roger Ackroyd was very good too...

Do you have a suggestion on a biography of Agatha Christie? She’s had quite an interesting life.
I would say to either pick up her autobiography or there is a graphic novel called Agatha which I have done a review of on my channel that was a really concise view of her life

Yes ! Hercule Poirot's Christmas

Adventure of the Xmas Pudding .
🤔 So read books for their atmosphere, and you reread them habitually, 🧐 and I'm not the only one with these symptoms!
Love to see people reading Agatha Christie my favourite is the ABC murders
Appointment With Death, and Murder in Mesopotamia; also Postern of Fate and They Came to Baghdad..
Not a usual choice group, but must say any Marple book always rates high
Yes! I love 'ABC Murders'!
Five Little Pigs, I’m calling it.
Such a lovely video
Five little pigs is genuinly the best Christie
I remember loving curtain as a teenager. But as a more mature adult I just cannot make myself re-read it after seeing the odious Suchet production - what a depressing production. Where is "The Big Four" ?? It is the best! You have amazing videos! Thank you!
ahh sorry, not one of my faves I'm afraid!
@@lilsvintageworld it's ok😊. For me it's the best because it's my first Poirot and he is brilliant there! I was waiting for this video, so happy that you love Christie's! Do you more love Poirot novels or Marple?
Little upset you left out Murder of Roger Ackroyd and the ABC Murders but that’s okay
