    I have a malshi and she has honestly been the best dog I have ever owned! Loving, loyal, smart, not a mean bone in their body. I am sold on owning a Malshi for life

    We had a Malshi for six years. He was so smart I swear he understood every word we ever said to him. And his precious attitude.
    See you at the bridge, Toby!! 😢

    I have a Malshi who is 4 years old. She is my travel navigator and camping buddy. She has a loving temperament, is loyal, and loves other animals. She is best friends with our cat. I am so happy to have a Malshe. A great little dog. 😻

      Thanks for sharing Erika :) It would be great if our WookiDog had a friend at home.

      Thank you for this info. I have a cat already, but she doesn’t like dogs. I’m hoping now that she’s older she might consider an animal buddy.

    The Malshi Dog does tend to grow hair on the inside of their ear, all the way back in towards the eardrum. This has recently caused some health issues for WookiDog, the only issue that she has experienced from our perspective. She tends to get a build-up of ear wax which can then lead to yeast infections in her ear. For Wookie Dog this has been treated by a trip to the vet, they squeeze in a medical gell that fills her ear canal and is left for a week. This ear treatment works extremely well. Some owners have the hair plucked from the ear but going off our vet’s advice we have not removed the hair.

    Sadly we lost our Cindy she was a beautiful loving little soul. She was the same as yours. Looks like my Cindy too. We are now trying to find another puppy to love.

      I'm sorry to hear that Patricia. It's so rewarding when you have a dog with so much character but that makes it ten times harder when that sad day comes. I have to remind myself that it will happen at some point but I like to think I'm giving my WookiDog the best life possible. Good luck finding another Puppy, I hope it works out well for all.

    I did not know they were a breed, mines 6 years old, just found out through these videos mine is exactly like yours so glad I was able to find you.

      I dont think they are a true recognised breed but in saying that I don't really know why. Wookidogs parents were both Malshi dogs.

    I also have a Malshi and would not trade him for the world; they are a great lap-dog which my wife and I love.

    my malshi is stubborn but very sweet
    A bit intelligent and clever it's as if he knows that he has done something wrong

      Yeah, that sounds spot on. Our Wookie just spent all day crying because we didn't feed her chicken for breakfast. Now in the late afternoon she's just eaten it and is asking for ... chicken lol

    I just now came across this video and I would like to say that everything you were saying to describe this breed is spot on! We got Max when he was 8 weeks old and he is almost 5 now. I guess the only negative I can say about the breed is that they get separation anxiety easily. Luckily we are both retired so he has almost constant companionship.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  ปีที่แล้ว

      :) Its interesting how similar they can be. Separation anxiety seems to be common as you mentioned. Our Wookie has learned that if we leave the house with shopping bags we will be back soon. Anything else and she gets stressed. We try offering a treat, getting her to go to the bed and sit for some treats before we leave. But normally she's too worked up for it to settle her.

    The teeth of Malshi Dogs are said to be problematic, we have not experienced any problems at this point. We feed dry kibble each day to try and help break up any plaque around the teeth. We also provide numerous soft chew toys for our Malshi Dog to play with. When bored she spends some of her time chewing on the toys which would have to slightly clean the teeth. We recently took Wookie Dog into the vet to have her teeth cleaned, this involves a general anesthetic, and Wookie slept through the cleaning process. The vet suggested coming back after 18 months for another full clean.
    When selecting dog food and treats for your Malshi Dog be sure to inspect the ingredients for added sugars. A healthy diet will also contribute to better oral health.

    Wookie Dog is a cutie! I believe her face looks like a Maltese, though she’s much larger, like twice the size of a Maltese.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, true. She can behave like a Maltese as well. When her hair is grown out more she starts looking more like the Shih Tzu. But definitely has more of a Maltese look, as you said in her face.

    I love my Malshi pup. I am researching how to help her with separation anxiety. I feel so bad when I need to go to the gym and can't take her. She cries so bad that I honestly don't go anymore until I find a solution.

      We will play with wookie or take her out walking before going to get her a bit tired so she might sleep. We have the same routine of saying to her "We will be back, Wookie Stay!" She has her bed next to the front window so she can sleep there while waiting for us. She is better now, over time it gets easier. Its hard but they will learn. My parents dropped their dog off at a dog daycare once a month when it was young to teach it, when your puppy dog is older that might be a good idea.

    It's a bit hard to squeeze all the information into a short video. I've added more information to the description section.

    Thank you for this video! We got a Malshi for our family pet last Xmas and couldn't be happier. We always get compliments on how cute our dog is, very similar to yours. Your observations sound like you are talking about our dog. Wonderfully loving breed of dog. So happy we got him. One question. The breeder who we got the dog from spayed and neutered our dog before we got him at around 5 month old. I'm hearing this leads to health problems when its done too early. Have you read the same?

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have read that having them desexed at an early age can lead to the dog growing taller, can have lower bone density, and run into hip joint problems. But 5months sounds like it wasn't super early, fairly common 5-6 months. We chose to not have her spayed until she had been in heat at least once.
