This video will show you how to "be a cop" in GTA V. This video has more gameplay than my first one in case anyone wants to see more. Instead of the police computer call-outs like in GTA IV, there are now random events that you can participate in as a cop.

That *uniform* is actually for bikes (motorcycles) and not for cars

CC Dizame you can be a highway patrol by stealing a bike from a cop that's in the sandy shores intersection. then use the wanted down cheat and now you a a San Andreas Highway Patrol

If he had different trousers, boots and a hat instead it would of been fit for a car, although in GTAV Rockstar only used the bike to make things easy, means they didn't have to use a car and give it an entire re-skin to be highway patrol styled one.

There’s a way to quickly call in back up with disabled police in director mode. Had a lot of fun with that on my Xbox.

I guess you could consider this as playing as a cop. If there had been a nearby cop seeing you shooting those The Lost members, you would have received a wanted star. Which is a shame. Same goes for when someone attacks you by either fists or guns, if you return the favor and a cop sees this or even another NPC they will snitch about you to the cops and you get the star. How awesome would it be if they truly implemented a feature where you really play as cop? Responding to calls from the police and then it could either be a car chase where you have to stop the badguy, or you have to investigate in someone's house and see what's going on, could end up with a shootout. A full on cop mode would be awesome for the next GTA. Just like how we can really play as a taxi driver, do this for cops too.

You don't need to 100% the game to do this, in fact, you don't even need the suit, these are all random events, and the cops shot the one guy or punching you.

For those thinking that he actually became a cop, he's actually roleplaying. He can still get a wanted level. That's why he never really shot at the criminals or killed anyone, with the exception of the event where he ran the guy over and the cop thanked him for it.
While dressed in this attire, shooting and killing people will still result in receiving a wanted level.
I agree, he’s not playing as a cop, but just a regular playing using cop uniform. The event on 06:00 is not truly cop mission but just a random event happening.

If you go to director mode, you can do this same thing without having completed the game, and you can choose any cop you want

Will they ever actually make it so you can legitimately be a cop? Like, use the radio/computer in a cop car to find crimes and shit(like you could in gta 4), or even be able to arrest people and take them back to the station?

If anyone wants the proper LSPD uniform if u install GTA V save editor and click the little t-shirt simple then the bar it says LSPD uniform click set outfit and save it if ur on 360/PS3 u will have to put a USB drive in remove it and plug it in restart the save and there u have it

You can also set your wanted status to low for backup, but the con about it is that you need to be a highway patrol officer for them to not shoot at you.

I'm mildly surprised that Rockstar haven't done a Cop storyline yet. There''s a lot of room for a very interesting storyline in there with drug arrests, swat teams, corrupt cops, etc. There was LA Noire of course, but I'd love to see a GTA game centered around playing one.
