      Met Bossy as a kid in Hicksville, Long Island at a Jaguar dealership. I was there with my dad and uncle and I was maybe 9 or 10 years old. It was right about the time he was retiring due to back issues. I saw him and my eyes lit up. I was way too nervous to talk to him, and neither my dad or uncle had any idea who he was. Bossy was watching me explain who he was to them, and with a huge smile he walked right over to us and introduced himself. I got an autograph, but being pre cell phone I didn’t get a picture. Regardless it’s still one of the highlights of my life, and he’ll always be remember as one of the nicest people ever in my book. RIP Mr. Bossy.

    Gretzky scored 500 goals in his first 575 games.
    If we end Lemiuex's and Gretzky's careers at the same point as Bossy's, Gretzky would have a higher goals per game average.
    Bossy never had the chance to decline

      BS! He never led the league in goal scoring 9 times like Ovechkin did.
      Nobody else has either!
      Bossy played in the 70's-80's which was a high scoring era and the goaltenders were smaller. Ovi has far more goals than Bossy.
      Ovi is the GOAT of goal scoring!

      I think Lemieux is definitely the best goal scorer ever... Lemieux finished his career when he was 40 years old and while he was playing he got 2 back surgery, cancer and irregular heart beat. Maintaining 0,75 is insane. Bossy literaly retired in his prime ( 30 yrs old ) when he started to feel worst. At 30 years old Lemieux had 0,84 goals per game on average

    • @Klostrum-j7y
      @Klostrum-j7y หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ovechkin is the GOAT GOALSCORER! Period! Nobody in NHL history has ever led the league in goals 9 times! Not even Lemieux! He's also the greatest Power Play scorer of all time!

    • @Keeboy96

      @Klostrum-j7y Lemieux would have score 1000 goals if he would have been healthy. Lemieux could have lead the league in goals at least 10,12 times, if he would have played more games. For example in 2001 when he cameback after 4 years off, he was able to score 35 goals in only 43 games. You simply have no clues how dominant Lemieux was.

    • @kozmeetorez
      @kozmeetorez 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Klostrum-j7y because he will get the record, yes. But he is not the best goal scorer we have seen. He's simply out shooting everyone. He was first all-time in shots within 15 seasons surpassing Ray and Jagr who both played at least 20 seasons. He is not efficient, proven by his inability score on shootouts, which is the easiest goal for hockey player to get. He's not even in top 50. If he shot at the same rate as Steven stamkos, he wouldn't even have 700 goals.

Joe Mullen was a sniper, Simmer was dominant on the Triple Crown Line, and Ziggy Palffy had unreal hands. Dino Ciccarelli’s grit and scoring touch were legendary, and Rick Vaive hit 50 goals multiple times. LaFontaine’s skill and class were unmatched, Marcel Dionne was an all-time great, and Rick Martin was a Buffalo Sabres icon. All of them deserve the recognition-thanks for bringing them up! 🏒🔥"

    That's why I think Mario Lemieux was the GOAT. If it wasn't from his back injuries and cancer, he would beat Wayne Gretzky's records.

    • @alf1459
      @alf1459 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This is not necessarily true. Gretzky was in fact the first to get to every milestone in terms of goals per game. If he had stopped playing when he reached Bossy’s total goals, he would have had a better goals per game ratio. Same thing with Mario’s total (although it would have been very close). Gretz suffered a serious back injury when he was cross-checked by Gary Suter in the 1991 Canada Cup. Up until that time, he had never scored fewer than 40 goals in a season, but he never reached 40 goals again in his final eight seasons as his goals per game dropped dramatically. As far as points per game go, Mario never could have gotten close to Wayne’s totals even if he never missed a game with illness or injury.

    Where the Hell is Newsy Lalonde? 99 NHL games and 124 goals gives a ratio of 1,25!
    And if you claim that was too long ago (1917-1927) fair enough, but how can you then include Howie Morenz (1923-1937)? Even comparing Mike Bossy to Leon Draisaitl is unfair, different era, different game.

    Ovechkin is the undisputed GOAT of Goal scoring.
    He led the league in goal scoring 9 times.
    Not Gretzky, not Lemieux not Bossy have ever done that!
    He's the all time leader in Power Play goals, he will soon swallow Gretzky for most All time, and he's only 3 game winning goals away from becoming the overall leader in that stat too.
    He's the Goal Goat. Period!
    End of story!

    You are comparing players goals per game over an entire career while Auston Mathews is over his first 7 or 8 years of his career. Mike Bossy's was 0.76 over his entire career. Only in his final year where he had to cut short due to injuries that he didn't score 50 goals.

    • @GreekboyyD
      @GreekboyyD หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Bossy only played 10 seasons. Gretzky had a better goals per game pace than him after 10 seasons. Had Bossy played 20 seasons like Gretzky, he’d have a much worse goals per game pace.

    • @waynethera2712
      @waynethera2712 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Bossy also played in the easiest goal scoring era. All those early years of feasting on the Capitals, Kansas City Scouts, Cleveland Barons, Oakland Seals, Colorrado Rockies and the early WHA entry years. No wonder everyone scored 35-50 goals. The expansion rules were pretty awful those years.

    • @GreekboyyD

Also, as a player gets older their productivity and numbers go down. What people are saying about Super Mario you can also say about Mike Bossy who played several seasons with a messed up back.
