Thank you so much for the time and effort you’ve put into this. I’ve been patiently waiting for you to upload this, and what a nice way for you to follow this on from the Flyjet video which I loved too! The information you find out is fascinating. My favourite channel on TH-cam!
Although I've been watching these for some time I forgot to sub! Have you ever done a report on Cyprus Airways? I used to love flying their A310's out of BHX in the late 80's early 90's? Thanks for your input, very enjoyable.
Thank you I really appreciate that. I've not done Cyprus Airways yet (I've done Eurocypria, Helios and KTHY from the other side) but do intend on doing them soon along with Cobolt as that would complete the "set" of Cypriot carriers.
Another great video! Never got to fly them myself but a few people I used to work with did (was a travel agent and they offered a £199 return concession!). Keep it up! 👍
How long did this take to put together? The research alone is massive. I'm going to have to watch it at least three times to begin to absorb the infomation.
I'd say it took two months in total, I was quite fortunate that some info was handed to me on a silver platter (pardon the pun) as I could get quite a bit of info from their own website archive. The struggle was putting it all into words. It took 5 hours to record the audio and trim it accordingly, once that bit is done it's a lot easier but still takes around 3-4 solid days to put it all together into a video (I honestly can't figure out how I used to make a new episode each week back in 2020).
Hi there. Nice video! May i suggest you do FlyGlobespan? And/or Eos? And if its about defynct airlines, cpuld you also try something like eastern? Or america west?
Thank you :) Eos will be coming up soon as part of this "story arc" I do also have a half done script on Globespan and do also intend to cover America West soon :)
I think that Silverjet, Eos and Maxjet all needed more startup capital and ultimately needed that in order to weather the storm of 2008-09 but had they made it past that then they would have prospered. I think Silverjet would have stood out at the top as their product was superior to both Maxjet and Eos though Eos also had a good product. Maxjet would have lost ground to both (EOS had planned several new routes from Stansted) as its product was somewhat inferior to the other two, comparatively speaking but had it lowered its fares it could have prospered by scooping up the lower end of the market. I genuinely think that there is still a market for these kind of airlines however in my opinion they need to hit the ground running, starting off with a handful of aircraft and routes in order to get that money coming in and quick. Ultimately Silverjet, Maxjet and Eos all had the same issues, aside from the lack of startup capital they struggled to grow their fleets quick enough to bring money in an keep them afloat. Like I said at the end of the video, if Silverjet were still flying today I'd happily travel with them (even if I did have to go via LTN). The fact that La Compagnie is still operating and doing fairly will and that BA only axed their LCY-JFK service due to issues with customs in Ireland it suggests that there is still enough of a market to operate such services. As for Global, there's been numerous changes in direction with them over the past couple of years so it will be interesting to see how they work out.
@@ExpoAviation Air Europe’s demise was a complete ILG sham - Intasun bought them down. Was a travel agent at time and the whole thing destroyed our morale but I flew AE Business Class and it was far superior to any Club or Business class that other European airlines offered!
@@leathomas9983 Yeah there were a number of airlines which were dragged down by tour operators, wind the clock back a bit further and Court Line was dragged down by Clarkson's (which it already had to bail out and acquire them). It's a shame Air Europe fell, I'll be covering their story soon-ish I hope :)
No idea if there was any truth to this but American, and possibly others were accused of predatory pricing to try and force the business only carriers out of tmhe market, indeed as soon as they all collapsed American stopped their Stansted - JFK flight
Another great piece of research Phil.. As an aviation nut I really believe you should have so many more subscribers!!!
Thank you :)
Phil, this was another great one. Congrats. And these are never too long. Enjoy your spring.
Thanks Rob, I think I cut about 10 minutes out of this one to keep it a bit more sensible for most :) Have a great spring too mate :)

Thanks for your kind words, I hope that this episode was worth the wait :)
Great job.
Surprised you never did a Thomas Cook video like this one
Thank you :) I will do Thomas Cook in due course, it's actually quite a long story arc :)

@@ExpoAviation Cool, I look forward to seeing those. I flew with Eurocypria too, on the most dreadful flight, time wise that is, from MAN.

Another lovely video Phil! :)
Thank you very much, that means a lot :)
Do you plan on perhaps expanding onto the history of more obscure existing airlines or obscure aviation incidents in the future?
Yes it is something that I have been considering for a while, time permitting :)
Nice video. Can you also feature Maxjet’s story. Thank you.
Thank you, Maxjet is next in line and I'm already working on the script :)
Excellent Phil. Some subtle wisecracks in that story. 😂
Thanks Chris, I am glad the jokes landed as intended :)

What’s your ultimate opinion on these all business airlines from the one mentioned in the video to the recent start up global airways?

@@ExpoAviation thank you for the great comment
@@uwucaffeineaddiction4023 you're welcome :)
You should also add to the list openskies and L'Avion
Never mind I missed the bit
No worries mate :) I will cover them in due course :)
Sliverjet was a interesting carrier I sort of were like a low cost budget business scheme shame they didn't last long
There were over half a dozen airlines trying the same thing at this time, now there's just one left :/
Ikr only one that's successful in France
@@AlexAviation. yes, formed through the merger of BA's Openskies and La Compagnie. They are an interesting case.
Phil… how about covering Dan Air or the sham failure of Air Europe??
I do have both on my list and hope to cover Air Europe fairly soon :)

There jet painting looked like Sabena Airlines.
Yes I can see that now you've mentioned it, that was my favourite Sabena livery too :)

It does sound something like AA would do, after all just look at what they did with Legend over in Dallas.
