  • May 12 2024, 7:13 am - our White Rock bald eagle cam nest is near Boundary Bay in British Columbia, which is an area with a number of eagle nests and a whole lot of visiting eagles enjoying the bounty to be found in Boundary Bay. I'm not quite sure what was happening this morning - and do know that all is well now - but it looked as if another eagle may have tried to come into the nest and was promptly chased off by the resident pair. This video shows the activity from the West/Closeup cam over the nest, then from the Wide Angle cam - and towards the end of the the video, you can see a lot of large birds flying near the nest tree in the upper right. The pair is often harassed by crows, but it's my impression that at least most of the birds were bigger than that, and I think most had white heads. You can watch them live at hancockwildlife.org/white-roc... and read more about them on our forum at forum.hancockwildlife.org/vie... ~JudyB

Looked like another eagle followed the parent to the nest in an attempt to steal the food it was carrying. Saw this happen numerous times at the SWFL nest last year and on one occasion both eagles ended up on the ground. After the F eagle went missing the male ended up successfully raising the two eaglets by himself, but not without plenty of drama. Once the two eaglets got bigger they could protect the food once it got to the nest.
