    For anyone else wondering, I read that when you order the 7/8” grips you receive a 7/8” for the clutch side and a 1” for the throttle side. Likewise, when you order the 1” grips you receive a 1” for the clutch side and a 1 1/8 for the throttle side. Hope this helps.

      Yes, the throttle side is larger for the diameter of the throttle tube. For the scout platform, you want to go 7/8

    Did you try using an air compressor to remove the grips? It's always worked perfectly for me and only takes a couple minutes....and you save the original grips as well.

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I did try that and didn't have luck (mostly due to the pressure and not having a good nozzle on it at the time.)
      I was never going back to the grips so it wasn't a huge issue. I have gotten it to work in the past though.

    Are those grips fatter than the stock ones? Also how far can you go on the 1920 seat?

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are certainly more comfortable than the stock. A bit softer and stickier but not sure if they are thicker. I've done a full day in the 1920 seat. It is more comfortable than it looks but it is not a road sofa. I think the wide seat allows you to shift positions and stay comfortable longer.

    I have a question, when you removed and installed back the throttle tube is it really just a clip on or do you have re threads the throttle wiring on the control system?
    I just received the vans cult grips for my scout bobber 60.

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really is easy. Just slide it on the bar and into the throttle control and if will slide and clip into place. Hard to describe but incredibly easy and you'll see what I mean once you take it apart.

    I have the ‘20 Indian scout bobber sixty and my throttle hand goes numb all the time. Did this help with that? Or is there something else you would suggest?

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a similar feeling in my hands and this did help. Another thing to look at is your bars and if you are leaning on the wrists with the stock bars. Mine came with 10" apes so it is more comfortable on the back and wrists. That is a long answer but the short version is yes these did help me for sure.

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hairspray holds up great. Ive done this for years on BMX freestyle bikes and has never let me down. Both grips on the bobber have also stayed put as I expected and I've put over 2k miles on it since.

    Did you say you ordered the 7/8 grips and got two different diameters inside the package? One for the brake side and one larger size for the throttle tube side? The only ones I see online they are both 7/8 or both 1", not for individual sale? Thats a nice set up, thanks for the vid!

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The link in the description takes you to the right grips. There is a 7/8 and a 1 inch in the box. Make sure you put the larger one on the throttle tube.

    • @MessyGarageBMW
      @MessyGarageBMW  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to get the grip off of the throttle tube. If you don't cut it you would have to work harder and may end up breaking the throttle tube and have to buy another one.

    • @MessyGarageBMW

      Yes. You will have to take a razor blade and cut the ends so you can bolt the mirrors back on. The rubber is soft so it is very easy.

      The answer is really in the hand. What feels better and is easier on your hands with comfort and fatigue. The stock grips are harder but that doesn't relate to more quality. These are very well done and I've used them on my BMX bikes as well.
