In this video we apply reverse engineering to a door lock and design and make a functional assembly in solidworks.
I had a lot of fun taking apart the lock mechanism and finding out about the design and mechanics, so I decided to use reverse engineering to model the door lock in solidworks and create a functional assembly that uses the mechanics.
Reverse engineering is a great way to learn how things work and about manufacturing techniques.
This door lock provides a great opportunity to learn about sheet metal, cast and extruded parts along with a host of mechanical principles!
