    Delightful video! I think my favorite is the first one. I have four pocket watches of my own, three Hamiltons from 1904 - 1949, and a size 18 Rockford from 1908. I am utterly flabbergasted at how precise the Hamilton 992B is; I set it in (or before) January 2020, and it still hasn't gained more than 10 seconds. My wife has an 1897 Illinois Bunn Special that her great grandfather carried on a railroad; he was killed in the most horrible way in the 1930s, falling from his train and being dragged, legless, for over a mile. The watch still runs and keeps time. I never thought to look for an Omega pocket watch for my collection until this video. My wife has you pegged as a BAD INFLUENCE, my friend! :)

      Thanks for sharing your collectors of PK watches. I do have an old 30s/40s Hamilton PK pocket watch and a couple other non-Omega brand PK in display. They are great watches indeed. Apparently, some still keep excellent time a century later. That story behind your wife's 1897 Illinois PK is horrific and unforgettable.

    You have a love for the watches and you got a nice collection of the 30s,my favorite is the desk watch also I have learned that the better condition,the less trouble you have in the movements,I have a 1910 omega pocket watch with the porcelain dial,also a 1890 Elgin and few others,they are a great movements and believe they resist better the pass of time,thanks again for another nice video ,it will be nice to have a video from war watches a I think they are great pieces and rare too ,god bless ,waiting for your next vid.

      Thank you Jose. Thank you for sharing your collection. I do have a very old piece from the 1800s, but that one is a small pendant watch that I gave to my wife. I do have a wrist watch from 1900 with porcelain dial. Maybe I'll make a video on that in a future video. :-)

    Amazing pocket watches! I’m new to pocket watches but i would really be able to get me a 1930’s-1940’s swiss pocket watch. from size 12 to 16 but particularly size 16 i’m unfortunately having a very hard time finding one though.

    Beautiful collection, thank you for showing it! My favourite would be the #3 from the video, 1936 caliber 38.5L. I just like the dark gold case contrasting against the blued hands. Also the shape of the crown is appealing, as are the engravings on the back.

    I hand only one omega pocket watch. I collected pocket before wristwatches. My favorite is 24 jewel Illinois. There only 600 movements made. I have two other Illinois pocket watches. This brand is very reliable and accurate. My rarest is a 15 jewel
    Elgin from 1867 series 1 first year.

    Hello, thank you for your great channel. Do you have any thoughts on the mechanics of the 24 hour Omega pocket watches with 19LB and 19LBT1 movements? They are from approx 1920-30 I think.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel

      With the proper care, I would say all Omega movements are just as great and reliable.

    I have an omega 1913 pocket watch with beat error or 4.8!! Too high and amp of 203.
    I routinely service vintage Omega wrist watches, and many of them have a correctable beat error or a beat corrector and some of them don’t and you can adjust it by turning the call. I am very curious it’s the same one this pocketwatch and what is an acceptable amplitude.

  • @richardadelberg8961

    I have one from 1913 with fancy movement, but it has no screw to remove stem. It grinds a bit when setting hands so I’d like to look at keyless works.. but can’t get stem out so can’t get it out of case.. ever seen one like this?

    I'd like to see some revival of pocket watches so my favourite of that lot definitely is the Omega Desktop Pocket Watch, which actually would service some purpose and practicality even in the modern day and society. For the same reasons that Chronograph Omega would be cool too to still see around.
    What an eye catcher and conversation starter such a multi-purpose desktop pocket watch would be especially if it had an Alarm Clock complication too! :D

      @TimelessHistoryChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THank you for the comment. These are premium watches of its time. If you want more jewels you'll need to look at later PK such as those from 1960s using caliber 601 with 17 jewels. When I update the site with pocket watches, you'll be able to see one with a 600 series caliber.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! You can always try offering it on the Omega forum, or maybe at a watch show that happens throughout the year in several part of the US. But honestly, if your watch is not in great shape, need service, no significant history behind it, and so forth. The value of a PK watch is probably not worth too much. I do not appraise watches, so best to ask around.

    What do you think of the Calibre 940 movement by Unitas found in the Omega Geneve pocket watches from the 70's?
    Is Omega and Omega Geneve the same thing just different branding?
    Thanks!

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not recall working on an Unitas Caliber 940, but it looks to be a great movement.
      You will need to compare the movement inside the Geneve. Some Geneve models uses the same movement as those in a Seamaster.

    What does t mean L.T. ?

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      40.6 L.T., the L representing diameter and T representing the Upgrade position. Just like a 30mm caliber. You have 30, 30T1, 30T2, 30T3, 30T2RG, 30T2 SC.... (SC stands for center second hand)

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarthusDreams Basically, there are several different 40.6 calibres. Starting with their base calibre 40.6L, which carries 15 jewels, was first introduced in 1923. 1928 was the last year that a modification was made to this calibre. So between 1923 to 1928, you have the following modification or upgrades:
      40.6L with 15 jewels, 40.6L.T1 with 15 jewels, 40.6L.T2 with 15 jewels, and 40.6L.T2 with 17 jewels. A total of 959,400 pieces were made. The modification could be minor such as extra jewels may have been added or some minor changes to the bridges, gears, wheels, or balance system.
