Hi Kalle, I was taught that the dial washer was used to keep the hour hand wheel from being removed when you remove the dial.

I have a very similar Omega pocket watch that I would like to service (preferably by myself).
I love it, it's in an amazing condition but it works for a few hours and stops.

Thats fascinating, thanks. I have a 1915 version which I am cleaning up at the moment. But, what happens when you need to replace a hairspring on these models? The replacements cannot still be available, are they?
