DOT announces a $4.3M project to replace the bridge over Oneida Creek and a $4,300,000 project to replace the bridge carrying State Route 46 over Oneida Creek, linking the City of Oneida with the Town of Verona. The project will build a 170-foot-long span with a concrete deck that will be longer than the original bridge and will not require a center pier in Oneida Creek.
The new bridge will be less vulnerable to scour and erosion from the creek and will help prevent flooding during severe weather.
Construction is expected to begin on July 29. During this time, drivers will be advised to follow a posted detour leading them to State Route 46, Route 31, and State Route 316.
Accommodations will also be made during construction to ensure pedestrians and cyclists can use the Empire State Trail uninterrupted. The project is expected to be complete by the end of November.
The project includes replacing the bridge, repaving State Route 46, installing new signs, and replacing guide rails.
