Even if that is their ONLY legacy, it is more than many bands who are just good bands, but nothing more.. I listened to Babymetal in 2011, WAY before most others outside Japan even knew they existed. That is because I am a fan of (good)Jpop so I keep up with the trends. That said, I used to hate metal (true metal) and being a guitarist, I did love the heavy sound but couldn't understand why most of the singers had to snarl and scream their lyrics so no one could understand them unless they read them. I sort of liked Dir en Grey because they weren't purely metal (another Japanese band that most people haven't heard of...) but Babymetal has started the ball rolling...to make the "metal" sound more mainstream, which is good for metal, despite what the stoned out metal head purists say...
