GVF live are nuts. Crowd work was great, instruments were great and that voice is off the freaking chain - couldn’t believe how good these guys sound live, fucking electric vibes.

Just saw them live this past week (5/21/24) and it was truly a euphoric experience. This song in particular came out the day after my grandpa passed away, so has always been super symbolic to me even though they claim the song isn't about meeting God.

    • @porschepal7932
      @porschepal7932 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@andrewperoutka8449I think the meaning of a song really is about how you interpret it. They may not have intended for it to be perceived that way but I think songs can have different meanings depending on who you ask.

    • @andrewperoutka8449
      @andrewperoutka8449 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@porschepal7932 Oh 100% I think this one is definitely interpretive depending on the listener. I’m not a huge believer of God, but due to the circumstances prior to the songs release, I definitely interpreted it that way. But it’s totally one of those songs where every person can sort of associate their own meaning to it.

All thier songs are part of a story. They want to give each listener to come up with thier own meanings of each song. They really are such talented guys on their own merit. What they say Meeting the Master is about
'Meeting the Master' peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher," the band explained. "Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It's an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos."

Fun fact, it's the same guitarist throughout the song. It starts with the acoustic and then moves to that Gibson SG. If you listen closely, there is a section in the song where there is no guitar at all. He's making the switch from the acoustic to the electric. They're able to do this live too.
Band Members: Josh Kiszka (singer and harmonica), Jake Kiszka (guitarist), Sam Kiszka (bass guitarist, piano, and organ), Daniel Wagner AKA Danny (Drums and Mandolin). They're all incredibly talented. It's hard enough to play 1 instrument as well as they do but to play multiple instruments as well as they do is absolutely insane.

@@WatchingHamasBURNSame. Led Zeppelin has already been done. I'd rather hear what GVF has to offer than being too similar to a band that's already done their thing.

  • @Qlorn
    @Qlorn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I'm one of the few that fell in love with GVF from the jump. I heard all the criticisms that they sound like Zeppelin, a tribute band, they're frauds, ad nauseum. I wasn't hearing it. I only heard the quality of such a young band and instantly saw the potential.
I've always responded by saying every band in history is a reflection of their influences. Zeppelin themselves took so much from Willie Dixon and many other bands prior. It's a silly debate unless they were covering their songs. Even then I didn't hold Zeppelin accountable for sounding like or using their influences. They created using those influences.
"Meeting The Master" is the culmination of the band's influences, creativity, and experiences. They've matured and it's blatantly obvious just how talented this band is.
I'm almost 60 and have many friends who are admitting they misjudged GVF.
This particular song is one of perfection, in my mind. I'm hard core Classic Rock. I'm very grateful the band of the calibur of GVF, is performing in an era of American Idol.

Anybody else think the chick is a voluntary sacrifice to the unnamed God? She is wearing a red cloak. They have red hands….blood on their hands. I think in general the song conveys the insider view of what it is like to experience spiritual ecstasy and then take it to a place of madness and violence. The first bridge expresses that ecstatic feeling, but by the end it becomes sinister…the scenes suggestive of a dark ritual and potential sacrifice and then Josh’s words “blow it up to give him all of our love” and his insane frenzy as the fire flares. In the wrong hands spiritual ecstasy can become as potent and violent a drug as any other man has created. This is the closest I ever want to come to understanding the mind of a religious terrorist.

Greetings from the UK..this particular track is so folky I got all the symbolism in the video. Combination of folk music and rock oustanding. They had the Lady of the Lake as you may know the story of Excalibar sword (King Arther) the white horse..we have a Huge white horse in chalk on a hill thats been found to be more ancient than realised representing a female benevolrnyt folk hero. Also remember the White horse in Lord of the Rings? Oh snd the Oak tree big symbol for Druids. There are like a prophetic band if you see some of their other videos and songs which I guess makes them true Bards sent here to inspire us.

It’s the rocker of the album and you can distinctly hear every single instrument, and Josh’s voice is better than you’ve ever heard in any other song because you can hear it clearly without any autotune. The only thing they might use is a little echo, but I’m not even sure about that.

Yeah, it's that old tune that starts in D and then walks down to D/C and D/B before going back to D. It's okay that they used that here. I mean, we're not going to bust rock bands for using popular chord progressions. If we did, everyone would be busted.
I'm gonna take a freight train
    Down at the station, Lord
I don't care where it goes
    Gonna climb a mountain
    The highest mountain
I'll jump off, nobody gonna know
Come down off your throne and leave your body alone
    Somebody must change
You are the reason I've been waiting all these years
    Somebody holds the key
Well, I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home
    … I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
Still I can't find my way home
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she's been doin' to me?
I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall
I'm gonna crawl inside and die
'Cause my lady, now a mean ol' woman, Lord
    Never told me goodbye

Because Led Zeppline is one of the key rock bands in rock music history, it's normal for them to compare :)

In my opinion Josh sounds more like Geddy Lee if I had to compare him to someone. I’ve heard that the reason Jake’s guitar playing can sometimes sound like Page is because they were both inspired by the same artists from the 50s and 60s. The Kiszka family grew up listening nothing bust super old school vinyls.

Dude, I know who they're singing to.
It's the master, the God of music
    the God of the Universe
    the God of humanity
    the God of nature
    the God of art
the God of the past, present and future
    God

Loved your reactions and subscribed too. Josh has vocal range that is just plain sick. Jake can shred a mean guitar as good as anyone. Sam and Danny are so good that completes this band so tight. Check out Candlelight Sessions Light My Love. I’m glad you guys complimented them positively. Thanks

First off, regarding the two guys reacting, they claim to be musicians, but dont sound like them. At least not polished players that force me to respect their opinion. At no point did I feel a Rick Beato-level vibe from these cats.
Yes, GVF has strong comparisons to Led Zeppelin as a whole, but Geddy Lee's voice from Rush has been prevalent as well.
The video was clearly aiming to resemble a majestic mid-evil vibe, which is Zep in a nutshell. Anyone that ademently denies any of the aforementioned comparisons is smokin' that §H|x !
Prior to this song, GVF sounded like Zeppelin on many tracks, especially the singing and guitar playing parts. And although they don't sound like Rush's vocalist, Geddy Lee's vocal tone and nasal twang has presented itself in this young man's voice, occasionally, along with Plant's.
Not to mention that GVF in their first semi-high production video they were styled/dressed like contemporary rockers. That wasn't them and turned out to be a marketing error.
So this is ALL MY NEGATIVITY held towards these reactors and GVF.
I always felt GVF were a solid and talented band, but found the Zep and Lee comparisons were inescapable. Sure, they didn't want to be compared to older bands, because their managing and marketing people told them to disrupt that comparison.
*This is the 70s rock ballad Ithought they were capable of creating, but sounding like GVF and not Zep or Lee. THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. I disagree with the guy claiming the guitar riff sounds like "Cant You See" from The Marshall Tucker Band. GTFOH‼️ I understand the tortured resemblance, but its not recognizable enough to make mention of it negatively.
My point is that I'm no big deal, but GVF deserves answers. We have a potentially great band here, folks. I know this clip came out awhile ago, but I still find this to be a pivotal point in the bands trejectory! A few more of the songs and its a wrap!
Lets root for the guys to keep cranking out songs like this. Ya never know, your kids may one day say, "This is a masterpiece!" I hope so 🤞🙏
