Despite being on medical leave, Apple CEO Steve Jobs steps back in the spotlight to show off the 2nd generation of the iPad tablet. Shipping on March 11, the thinner, lighter iPad 2 is also faster, and it comes with two cameras.

Without flash, this can't replace what I already have nor do it any better. A computer/laptop and a smart phone.
I heard you can only watch videos on youtube in html5, so how annoying is the ipad when you can't watch all the videos you want to watch ? The cameras don't seem to be very good either.
One of the only bad things about getting an apple product is that right when you spend all your money on the newest product and you are so happy you have the newest thing, they immediately come out with the next one.

its the ipad that doesnt have all these things. and there are 3 tabs. the 7 inch, the tab 10.1, and 8.9. and what kind of things are lacking in the tabs?

@MrTrident23 1. Flash isn't precisely necessary, don't expect it to be a computer. It's a tablet.
2. USB port I have to say that it does need it :(
3. iWork, Docs To Go, many other apps that will do and undo whatever MS already does.
@IdahoDashti If you already have a computer you can Sync an iPad with it and be fine (I use my iPad at school all the time and have entire notebooks written/drawn on it), but if you don't have a computer, I guess you should go with the MacBook Pro.
congrats jobsy! you just made a larger pipod touch 4g, same design just upsized, same camera size and placement, faster better graphics and thinner, just like the ipod touch 4g, might as wall call the ipod touch an ipad that fits in you pocket
i want ipad 2 but it has problem with the screen from day 1. i also have iphone 4 but i dont care about the signal a lot but still annoying me sometime

Press and hold the lock key for 2s and then hold the home key and the volume up button for 10s ( all three buttons together) it should restart and go back to its state

@itsfukingreal if ink adam is as thin as ipad i believe there's no space to even put a 2 hour battery. and if ipad expands its thickness to adam's just for battery it could have lasted more than 20 hours. apple mobile products often have their battery occupying almost 70% of the total weight.

It's not the same prices WITH extra features, it clearly says the 16gb model with wifi and 3g(new feature) is $629, not $499.

@dirtbikerider68 with 3G u can use the internet anywhere you want. without the 3G you just have to rely on Wifi which connects to a router or to any free internet.

Omg I really want the ipad 2!! I've been waiting for it to come out for months!! The only thing is that now the price of the original ipad will drop. So that leaves me wondering. I'll still probably go with ipad 2. Also, I can't wait for the iPhone 5 comes out!! I wonder what they'll add to it. Cuz it's already really thin and it has cameras. Does anyone know when it'll come out? Or when Apple is going to announce it?
@Frostbite720 That's the worst argument for not multitasking I've heard. That's like saying...Multitasking is bad because it makes it more functional. The thing has oodles of battery life and a faster processor. Why not take advantage of that? I'm not trolling you, I'm just pointing that out.

@Stheens I would suggest that you check it's state referring to if it has scratches, seems used, etc. And you sell it before friday, you might a decent offer, then you can figure out what do with the rest. Plus the iPad 2 won't be modified maybe until next Jan.

Fun Fact: HP created a tablet with more functionality and a full OS before Apple did in 2003. Its callede the TC1100 look it up.
Skype does video conferencing over 3G on an iPhone 3GS, and audio-only conferencing on an iPad 1. I bet it does video conferencing on iPad 2.

My question is.. WHY?? Why a stand-alone tablet? The ipad and iphone are more or less the same device on different scales, but you can't fit the ipad in your pocket. Why don't they simply make the ipad a gutless $100 or $200 accessory to the ipad that maybe has a little extra storage and some ports. They could connect by docking the iphone in the back or through bluetooth. But it is assinine to buy both devices at $500 each.

@xmanclyx Ha Well it will probably be about 6 months before the new one is released but Don't get a smart case for your ipad. I think they should of came with the ipads but they will go down within a month

standby: battery life when the ipad is turned on but the screen is off and its not doing anything.
3g+wifi: means it can use 3g for internet if a wifi source isn't closeby. 3g is the same signal a cell phone uses.

it has the same shape of an ipod touch,a standard camera slightly slipping of the mountain of good cameras,it comes in 2 colours,and it has speaker holes instead of grills......ILL TAKE 3!!!
the jump in performance and design from ipad 1 to ipad 2 was so insane that it made the 3 other iPads barely look like an update

I just got my ipad 2, but why is there a window when i play a game? I downloaded N.o.v.a and theres a window, when I press x2 it will be a big windows but bad graphics, I''ve seen other youtubers having the game in full screen with great graphics... anyone?

The Squared shape and Weight of iPAD helps you Lay the Ipad down and Type or Say play the Piano , without it Tilting When you push Near the Sides ( ipad even has this issue )

@itsfukingreal maybe its not about "thickness", but the feel of it in the hands. some people enjoyed the "feel" of holding just a window, and some people preferred the feel of holding a device with volume. The ink adam should look and feel like im holding a book. Not really sure how to explain this but tt's why guitarists are so particular about neck profiles, even though they all looked the same.

@marvinvalarezo Thing about flash for the iPad, it would "dramatically" bring down it's battery life. However, if you're looking for full flash, 1GB RAM memory, go for the Blackberry PlayBook, it will be announced sometime this year. Kinda funny because Apple is releasing their tablet a year since they released their fast tablet. I'm sure when Steve Jobs gets better he will provide us with the Flash and the 10 hour battery life. Again, I would suggestt the BB Playbook for your convinient tablet.
