My childhood friend, Eddie Hawrysch. We went to school together from 1962 (Keele St. Public) to Runnymede and Humberside C.I. (1970-1975). Eddie and I were side-by-side as the two tallest kids in the class. RIP Ed.
this is bar none the most soulful piece , so beautiful and Ed's piano is part of that. That's part of the universe now. this video has no where near enough views imho.
@Karkle thanks; I will search for this book tomorrow. Loved this band from the beginning. As much as I love Stones, Faces, Zep, Etc., these guys I just adored seeing them perform live. Chris’s pure LOVE and goal of perfection, along with every other band member, is just so beautiful to see...early Beacon theater days, plus club shows in ‘96 were pure beauty - and in many ways, they beat the stones who I also adore, in their on-stage efforts... Hope to see a Crowes band again someday, after this virus ends...
@Karkle For someone to never be on the wrong side of either Robinson brother for the most part you're a saint, crazy or both. RIP Eddie Harsch RIP The Black Crowes P.S. One of the greatest bands of the last 30 years.
This song has some of the best lyrics ever written by anyone. "But I would let it slide, slide like mercury, all silver and quick, poisonous and deadly." It doesn't get any better than that.
Agree, entire song and in particular this performance is under rated. this should be up there with "Angie" and the like views wise, people don't know. like somethings edible right besides the apples or whatever everyone sees and eats... there's this "other" thing, watiting.
First time I heard this song was at my friends funeral. He had just turned 16. What a beautiful song I thought to myself. Every time I hear it, it brings me back to those days. Sigh... Nothing is guaranteed in this life and everyday is a blessing. He would be in his 40's now. Till we meet again.
I ran into Eddie in the Austin airport years ago. I wasn't 100% sure it was him, but I thought so. Anyway, I figured he probably didn't want to be bothered, so we looked at each other and I mimed playing the piano with a 'question' look on my face. He gave me a huge smile, mimed playing the piano at me and nodded his head. No words, but a wonderful, wonderful moment. Great piano player, great guy. RIP Ed.
There is a reason that The Black Crowes are one of the best bands to ever grace the stage. If this doesn't confirm and solidify that fact you don't know shit about music. Just my opinion...have a great day!
High as The Moon tour .. Shirt says 1992...I remember getting stoned 4 feet away from the band with my friend Moy in a supermarket turned concert venue....4 port a pots outside..curtains made of plastic meat warehouse style to keep the heat and moisture out...and all the smoke IN...the Black Crowes jammed second to none brotha....Rich threw me several picks...unfortunately Rich and I had horrible perception and I never caught like... 4 of the picks he threw at me.....can u believe this 92/93 tour Black Crowes Shirt i wear to work is 100 bucks on ebay ??? Funny shit ...i got it for 17.50......quality shirt...still rocks !!! Fucking Black Crowes motherfuckin forever dude !!
This song moves mountains for me. Seeing these guys live, and the brotherhood, meant so much so me. This shit helped me through tough times, and it still does to this day. Favorite band ever, right there with Zeppelin, there is a reason Jimmy Page showed up to do that show.
I've always thought the greatest music has come from the depths of addiction; this is one of the finest albums of all time, IMO. It's definitely my favorite BC album.
I saw them in 1993. Just mind bending incredible in person. They levitated that entire Arena of 12,000 people! Yes. Life altering. They figured out Rock and Roll as good as anyone that ever lived! Just absolutely beautiful! Their work will live forever!
David Moon ..... So down, so lowdown. Really bummed about Eddie. He was supposed to be playing with Rich, Marc, and Sven in January. Makes my guts ache thinking about it.
Los vi el 11 de marzo en Santiago y no he dejado de escucharlos. Son el mejor grupo de rock nacidos desde los 90 en adelante, sin lugar a dudas.....Es mi humilde opinión. Saludos y respetos desde Chile
Can't believe I got to see them more than once, once as the ceowes and once as Cheis Robinson Britherhood, phenomenal each time. Easily my favorite band.
This band has got me through some bad times for sure. I have a VHS tape who killed that bird on your window sill. It was a metal and that’s cool but I loved the old shit and when the Crowe’s first came out I remember getting all the music they had. Anyway I told all my close friends holy shit these guys just gave rock N roll another day in the sun. I was so happy to buy some NEW music to put with my allman bro’s , CCR tapes. the Crowe’s mean a lot to me so please dead your bullshit guys. Come back with some new hard southern boogie. C’mon guys I’m fading and want another Crowe’s show. Get out there and save Amorica before you can’t.
I miss Ed✌
🙏🥺
I was missing him today, decided to cruise TH-cam for a few gems, naturally came here first :)
I agree. I usually watch this video twice in a row because Ed gets me every time.
Me too brother. Me too.

The Runnymede of Magna Carta fame?
@@Carnegiered52 The Runnymede as in City of Toronto public school.
I met Eddie after a Crowes show years back. True gentleman
I love how even the band claps for Ed after the solo at the end. So much love.
I saw the Crowes many times, it was the same every time.
I particularly love the smile and sheer appreciation on Chris's face in this clip
@Karkle crazy, ole Ed. He was the best type of freak.
@Karkle thanks; I will search for this book tomorrow. Loved this band from the beginning. As much as I love Stones, Faces, Zep, Etc., these guys I just adored seeing them perform live. Just beautiful 💯
@Karkle For someone to never be on the wrong side of either Robinson brother for the most part you're a saint, crazy or both. RIP Eddie Harsch RIP The Black Crowes P.S. One of the greatest bands of the last 30 years.
I wonder if they realize how home this song hits for people
I wonder if they realize that about a lot of their songs. These guys and Alice in Chains has carried me through some dark days.
Often thought the same. For me, as a long time super-fan -their most moving song.
I don't think they do.
Miss you F...T3yrpln
And how beautiful piano can be in southern rock...
whenever i will lay my head to peace i want someone play that outro.
a great band and so underestimated ... one of the best bands of the last century...rest in peace Eddie Harsch
You've got that right
This song has some of the best lyrics ever written by anyone. "But I would let it slide, slide like mercury, all silver and quick, poisonous and deadly." It doesn't get any better than that.
Yes, and that slide lick that accompanies it. Makes the hair tingle on my every time. Rich is absolutely fabulous baby
Agree, entire song and in particular this performance is under rated. this should be up there with "Angie" and the like views wise, people don't know. like somethings edible right besides the apples or whatever everyone sees and eats... there's this "other" thing, watiting.
Truly one of the most underrated bands and songs of all time
Still get chills all these years later
Saw them live... one of the best bands in existence. RIP Eddie.
Underrated?
@@ignaciosilveiracongregado7491
Under appreciated to a certain degree.
No doubt they saved us when there were no new stones or zeppelins
They brought the rock n roll on their shoulders for 30 years
If the piano at the end is the last thing I ever hear I would die happy. The master. Sounds like little diamonds raining down
Like I KNOW people read this and I KNOW it aint just me and you that feel that way. So I'll comment that I agree.
@@MJ-ix7wm yes totally agree! They put modern music to shame. Skilled musicians & songwriters and a pleasure to listen to.
Great description man
Thank you for putting into words what's in my soul that I can't find the words for.
That’s a beautiful description
Even after roughly a bazillion listenings it STILL gives me chills.
Truly raw talent each time!
Shit makes me cry
Christopher Baker the great ones always will!
Soul and passion man, the things REAL MUsic is made of... Brent Mydland is another that can bring the tears and goosebumps .. Pure talent

How goddamn good do you have to be for your band to give you a standing ovation. Long live old, weird Eddie
How GD great do you have to be to make Rich clap??
Eddie Harsh and Marc Ford slide was just fantastic in this song. Love it.
Still gives me goosebumps after endless listens . Timeless . R.i.p eddie
I agree with you totally.
I ran into Eddie in the Austin airport years ago. I wasn't 100% sure it was him, but I thought so. Lucky guy!!!
I love how this makes me cry.

One of the most beautiful songs in the history of recorded music.....
Fuu. This song hits so hard. Makes me cry to my knees. Just give me an out. I’m working as hard as I can. Have mercy baby.

Best song of theirs by far and honestly have to say it's probably one of the best songs ever written
So special. The Black Crowes will forever be in my soul.
Rest well Ed
Just love how the whole band stood in awe watching Eddie play and applauded him after.. Brilliant.
Rest well Eddie .. Surely miss.
My favorites Crowes song of all time. Being a piano man myself I have so much respect for the late great Ed Harsch....
I've always thought the greatest music has come from the depths of addiction; this is one of the finest albums of all time, IMO. It's definitely my favorite BC album.
I miss this lineup so much.
All of the diehards do. It will never be this good again.
True that!
This what a piano player in a rock band is supposed to sound like. RIP Eddie.
Gets me every time 😢
I was at this show, saved my money and flew over for two shows, life altering.
I saw them in 1993. Just mind bending incredible in person. They levitated that entire Arena of 12,000 people! Yes. Life altering. They figured out Rock and Roll as good as anyone that ever lived! Just absolutely beautiful! Their work will live forever!
i wish i was you. black crowes changed my dna to become a better man.
So glad you were there. Thanks for sharing. I hope I get the chance to see them live. My most favorite of all.

RIP Eddie. Gone too soon and too young, but at least you left us with memories like this.
Absolutely beautiful pianist
Like many do !!!
Best piano piece I've ever heard. Rest in peace Eddie.
Let's Go Eddie!✌🏻
Amorica’s easily the best Crowes album. Just brilliant.
Yes,Yes !,!!!
Rest Easy Eddie...
David Moon ..... So down, so lowdown. Really bummed about Eddie. He was supposed to be playing with Rich, Marc, and Sven in January. Makes my guts ache thinking about it.
We all still miss Eddie. 😢
Indeed. Rest Easy Eddie ... his piece here so beautiful!
The outro is the prettiest thing I've ever heard
I love to see all you fans chose the live version to remember Crazy Ol' Ed. Damn, this song makes me tear up when I'm happy. RIP Ed, and thank you.
The One and Only..........Black Crowes. Brilliant, truly Brilliant.
Amorica truly is a masterpiece. Not just for the band but for all of rock and roll. ❤
i hope when i breath my last lung i hear this song and get to see my dad again. died this year after our trip to berlin.
Kit I hope you get to experience that as well! What a glorious moment that would be especially to this tune!
Andrew Hickman thank you sir.
I've seen this band so many times,I lost count
Me too😊
Chris is one of the best to ever do it.
Peace friends
We were there for all three nights
Unforgettable

I figure'd I'd comment now, after watching this 4 times in a row. That room sounds fantastic!!!! My gosh Marc Ford!!!!
Those were the days.
It shatters my heart.
This is just fucking epic. One of those moments you just wish you were there.
The World Doesn`t Deserve Good Music Like This

I so needed this right now....Chris can be so comforting sometimes
The piano outro on this song gives me chills everytime I hear it.
Keep coming back.
Wish we had more footage of Marc Ford's stellar slide work. So phenomenal.
And he didn't even play slide when he first joined. He pretended that he did and then quickly learnt
make me cry every single time...
R.I.P. Ed Harsch. Thanx for the gospel in The Black Crowes
I absolutely love this live version ❤❤
My favorite performance by my favorite band!! Love you guys!
I've seen them 6 times. They played this song all times.
Amazing band. Was at this one too. I think they'll be back one day - too much magic not to whatever the differences.
Can't wait to see them LIVE again-tomorrow night!
LIFE IS GOOD! ❣
Love this song. It never ceases to make my eyes tear up.

So happy I came across this video! Chills, absolutely beautiful. ❤️✌🏻
this is my favourite piano piece of all time.. Ed .. you elevated the Crowes. Rest in Peace
Your at peace now Eddie, thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with us.
Eddie Harsch, ladies and gentlemen!
Ed’s from my home town,Detroit Michigan!!!
my favourite piano piece and song til my walkoff.
Listening to this with my headphones on...... Perfection! What I wouldn't give to see these guys in 1970 with CSNY, The Doors, J.Airplane & Jimi.
That would have been hard, they started in 1989.....
Our favorite of many Black Crowes songs. I will miss you little brother. Rest easy.
Thank you for posting this. One of my favorite songs. Such an underrated song and band. RIP Ed. 💙
So amazing. RIP to the great Eddie Harsch.
I Love The Black Crowes And Always Will!
Amo esta canción, amo a the black crowes , puro arte no lo suficientemente apreciado , de las bandas mas subestimadas
Mr. Harsh was a definite key tickler. And as it said on Southern Harmony. Joint roller!! Yes!! Two great skills!!!
"The Song" has lost one amazing player. Eddie you will be missed.
Can't believe I got to see them more than once, once as the ceowes and once as Cheis Robinson Britherhood, phenomenal each time. Easily my favorite band.
A masterpiece
I love this song fantastic.
A song to think about. Great live everytime

Bill Murray great comment mate👌
WOW! Amazing lyrics and another song..soulfully..Perfectly sung. Loved it and I felt every note for a special someone 🎶❤😊
Without a doubt one of my favorite songs of all-time. Right up there with The Rain Song, Kasmir, and Stairway by Zep..
I agree a crucial tune and maybe best version worthy of placing in Zepp category
So goddamn great.
Eddie Harsch ... Thank you Eddie. I wish you peace.
that piano outro kills me everytime.
Great performance of one of their best songs
Thanks for uploading this gem! 🤘🏻✌🏼
