I love em too. I just hope that after a few years, there are some still around that are even close to original factory condition. Not only did they love to rust, like my 91 Sub, but every time one gets chopped, lowered, lifted, modded every which way but loose, it's one less square body . It's kind of like buying a famous priceless painting and taking a paint brush to it to make it like you think it should look. There's only so many out there to screw up.
Man come to the Midwest you'll find em great condition Missouri to be exact somewhere in between KC and Joplin TRI state area they are plentyfull thank me later I'm getting one when these taxes hit a 74
I'm a big time square body truck fan. I just recently finished the restoration of my '81 Silverado long bed. It took me 4 years but it was worth all the time, labor and money I've invested in just to see it back like it was when it was new. I will never get rid of it because it's what I grew up with and I like them better than these new ones. I bought it from a friend of mine that had parked it in a field for 4 years. Over the years I've owned 6 square body trucks.
I love these trucks, my dad grew up with him his first truck was a square body now he’s restoring one my brother restored one, So are whole family loves them!!
i love them, an average joe can go to walmart pick up a socket set and take the whole engine out in 4 hours flat. super easy to work on and super durable
I have an 84 C10. My dad bought it in 88 the year I was born. It’s the 1st truck myself and both my sons ever rode in. I wouldn’t sell it for $1 million!!!!
I’ve got an 04 cateye 2500hd and 2 squares (74 lwb and a 77 bonanza swb) and all I’ve got to say is if you’re gonna be driving your truck every day, go with the cateye unless you want to be beat to death by the suspension every time you drive it. OR you could be like me and just waste your money and get both :)
Just started my 79 GMC SIERRA CLASSIC off frame restoration myself, 355 small block, 350TH short shaft tranny, short wheelbase and cant wait to put a 4 in the front and 5 in drop in the rear on some meats and listen to that 355 growl out some cool tunes cruising around with my grandkids. SQUAREBODY LOVE!
I’m 16 and I bought my first truck a square body a few months ago. I drove it 30 country miles with an UNBOLTED steering box. I had no clue how they actually drove because I had never driven one before so I’m like well this must be normal. Somehow I didn’t die. i’m really impressed about how easy they are to work on. I’m super happy that I found a unicorn truck it’s a 78 short bed short box k10 350 with an np205 t case
Yup. Ive got a 1990 v2500 squarebody suburban. Its solid as hell too. In great great shape. Gonna put a 5.3 and 4l80e in it to take it to that next level
The answer is NO. My first vehicle was a 1975 Blazer that inherited from my dad in 1984, yes at only 9 years old, she was still a baby. Anyway, since then I have always owned at least one square body Chevy truck. I currently have 2 ( a '79 K10 LWB and a 1980 K5) and am looking to buy a 1985 GMC 3/4 ton 'burban. Squarebodies ARE life.
My first vehicle was an 83 6.2L diesel with three gear manual. Still in the family to this day, it's seen better days but they want to get rid of it. Wish I could afford a proper restoration on it.
The main reason they're so popular is because over the years of their production, the parts were interchangeable, no matter the year. Say, 350 heads fit on a 305
I’m 20 and just bought my first square body. 76 Sierra Grande k25, originally used by a fire department in Montana and eventually made its way to Michigan where I found it. The 400 small block and probably the trans were replaced with a 350 small block and a th350 trans with an unknown amount of miles. Other than that and some of the paint it’s all original. It’s my third truck and it’s the only one I can easily work on. I still can’t believe it’s mine every time I see it outside my house or drive it into town. Did I pay too much for it? Yes. Is it worth it? For me, absolutely. Although I can’t say the same for everyone. To some people it’s just a truck but for people like me it’s a hobby. I work on the damn thing even when there’s nothing wrong with it, because I just like working on it. And there is no better feeling than when I’ve got it running good and take it for a drive. When it warms up again in the spring I plan on doing some bodywork and then lifting it and putting some wheels and tires on it so I might be looking at some wheels and tires on your website soon.
Before i got into diesels, My very first truck was a restored sqarebody 1984 Chevy K20. Matte black, 9” total lift 38in M/Ts. 454 swap, headers and straight pipes. They use to hate me in high school, to bad I Lost it in a Hurricane god i miss that truck.
I have 3 one towtruck 1977 1 K5 Jimmy 77 And1 1978 C10 Stepside stroked out big block on 29 inch slicks so yeah I like Square bodies they're worth a ton and even if they are piece together you're not going to find them and when you do find them they're going to want a lot for them prices just going up on them not going to go back down
I have a Pristine condition 76 Chevy square body and I have also a 86 Chevy Silverado c10 also in pristine condition also full trim and full power everything and they both run and drive just fine. I paid 5grand for both trucks. One was bought thru a family member the Chevy Silverado basically the Denali for that truck was bought from a guy that didn't know what he had. I didn't realize how much they are worth. Both of my trucks run and drive fine and have no damage
Drove by one the other day for sale. Looked from 40 ft, slightly dropped, wheels & stripes. Immediately got me thinking about a basic project truck. Very tempting to inquire about it
Hell yeah they're worth it. I've got an 85 with a 5.3 lowered a bit with the stock rallys and cherry bombs and a 79 sierra that I'm building into a street truck
My dad has an ‘81 K10 that we restored ourselves and before we started restoring it, the truck with original straight 6 had over 160,000 miles and the engine literally purred so smoothly, fired first crank and still had the original clutch with plenty of life left on it. They were built so simplistically and easy to work on anyone can customize them and do the work themselves. No doubt they would outlast new trucks and are totally worth it!
I am so glad I started watching your videos. Especially since you can not find magazines anymore. Plus y"all do not push on us those low riders. y'all STAY WELL STAY SAFE FRANKIE LONG ISLAND with my red Colorado
How about, is it worth modifying your exhaust. Ive done it, gonna continue to do it but i hear lots of positives and negatives but is it really worth it making it louder
Grew up in a chevy family and we farmed. We had square body junk everywhere, everything from bent to broke frames doors falling off, bad engines, shorted wiring catching fire you name it nothing electrical worked after 6 months on a new square body smoke coming out of steering column. In the late 70's they had the 350 diesel garbage so that added more shit to the pile. In the early 80's they added that ESC bullshit electronic spark control and that crap left us stranded about like the rest of the junk pile. Even here in bama they rusted out. If i still had that junk i'd make a killing off of selling parts. When i see a square body it makes me remember having the hood all the time working on them and those stupid hei distributors crammed in back with no spark, pulling blown engines, welding broke frames. Most all other farmers had fords and those 360/390's and 460s were pulling beast and they would laugh saying the only times they had their hoods open was to jump something off or to change the oil. Several years back gm was advertising their strongest frames ever, well then they stepped up and built something that may be as strong as a weak toyota frame. Till this day you will not see anything built by gm on my property. Oh dolled up they look good but don't get hit in the side or the gas tank could blow, If you never heard of that fiasco then google it and what gm did not do to protect people, and people died from it cause gm lied and did nothing. The infamous square body it's to die for, a sloppy built shimmed up night mare. So weld it up throw tons of bondo at it, install a painless wiring kit with a more modern steering column, throw a pos ls under the hood and take it to a car show. Chevy people defend their crap, around here they are low iq'ed rotten or no teeth and all act the same.
GM out dune themself with this truck.. best one I ever came acrossed is Rockys truck on The Rockford Files for 1975 it was light years past all others. James Garner was all about GMC....
Not sure for everyone, I'm building a 1982 k10. Can't get what I wanted in a new, or rebuilt by others. Long bed manual transmission, single cab. When you can't buy what you want only option is build it. Just me maybe.
Definitely as I get older I want to start buying older Chevy trucks instead of new right now I own a 1962 and my grandpa owns a 65 and if it wasn't for me moving with my grandpa I would never own a beautiful 62 and now I want to buy more older Chevys
I am probably the only one who doesn't have a memory of riding in a family members square body actually any square body cause all the ones I have been around except two didn't work.
@ 7:54 what kind of truck is that?? It looks so sick. Sorry I'm a newbie when it comes to trucks but this just looks so orgasmic. Please anybody educate me on this truck!
Damn straight it’s worth it. Learned to drive in a 84 K10. Just bought one back last spring for a project 79 c10 short box. Love these trucks
They are some pretty cool trucks, but man it's hard to buy one that you know isn't mangled together or "rebuilt" LOL
Man come to the Midwest you'll find em great condition Missouri to be exact somewhere in between KC and Joplin TRI state area they are plentyfull thank me later I'm getting one when these taxes hit a 74
I have 3 good condition square body’s one Wisconsin 2 custom deluxe’s and 2 Scottsdale
That’s a stupid question!

I wanted a Chevy cat eye before this…… now I want a square body. 😂
I’ve got an 04 cateye 2500hd and 2 squares (74 lwb and a 77 bonanza swb) and all I’ve got to say is if you’re gonna be driving your truck every day, go with the cateye unless you want to be beat to death by the suspension every time you drive it. TFL Truck made me fall in love with the square body chevy when they built Big Green

In my opinion, a Duramax swapped k30 as a tow rig is AWESOME
Yes, especially upgraded with a duralast and modern suspension
I prefer stock so you’re teleported back to when that truck was new
My uncle had one for farm use but someone stole it a few months ago. It was a really nice blue and white one.
That’s the worst. :/
I’m 16 and I bought my first truck a square body a few months ago. I drove it 30 country miles with an UNBOLTED steering box. That's a keeper!
Do you like your t case? Any problems with it
Yup. Ive got a 1990 v2500 squarebody suburban. Its solid as hell too. In great great shape. Gonna put a 5.3 and 4l80e in it to take it to that next level
I have a 1986 square body Chevy suburban 2500 with a 454 GM crate motor in it. It sounds like a beast lol
Mi abuelo tenía una y en esa me en ceño a manejar y son exelentes trokas
It's totally worth it. I just bought a 1984 k 20. I need to redo the interior but it's in really good shape. I love it
I think the question you should be asking is, is life worth living without a square body chevy
Ooooh that’s a fair one!
Yes they are!!! I just bought a 75 K5 Blazer and its one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned!!
My first vehicle was an 83 6.2L diesel with three gear manual. Still in the family to this day, it's seen better days but they want to get rid of it. Wish I could afford a proper restoration on it.

Went with papaw every year looking at Christmas lights in the single cab short box. Sound so good as a child.

Very worth it I had a 78 k20 Scottsdale and it was a blast to drive and everyone asked questions about it
Best looking chevy ever made. Love my 86 C10!

When I think of Chevy Squarebody, what comes to my mind is a K30 or K20 or K10 6.2 Diesel WITH STACKS
What wheels should I get for my square body 🤔
So many options, depends if ya want bigger wheels or some old school style setup
I was thinking some old style crome built holes
Get them humvee double headlocks for the woods/daily and American forces for shows lol
Round ones...
Not the 6.2 diesel does really good on fuel
