Tyrone Power was perfect in The Eddy Duchin Story (he did the best job of "faking the piano"--and I'm a pianist quo have ever seen in film. And there's quite a resemblance between Power and Duchin. This was really neat to see... thanks!
Rollerskating was the most popular date night for Americans back in the 30s… My grandmother told me all about her romance with my grandfather. End it all evolved at Shadeland Park rollerskating rink and Shadeland… Pennsylvania right outside of Albion.
This video is of my grandfather. He died in 1946, and I was born in 1950 so I never knew him or heard his voice before. I found it when I was looking for pictures of San Francisco's 3rd Street Bridge, which is named after him.
what film is this from? gee, the styles, the everything- women's makeup, Sylvia Froos flourishes with her hands and arms while she sang, every 30s woman singing does those same moves- very topical! so interesting it really is.
Per Wikipedia, Ms. Froos lived long enough to see her musical shorts played on TCM, creating a new following for her.
Wish I could have happened to more so many never knew how much they were loved

Yes, I'm completely agree with you! Mr. Power was a talented actor, so subtle and so versatile! 👏
Concordo plenamente
Thank you how much fun was this to watch, loved it.🎶🎶🎶 March 2023
Greetings from Sydney Australia. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

My relative is in this video, too🙂 Eddie Duchin. Although he died before I was born.
@@Krana-rt2yy So you are a child of Peter Duchin? Was Chiquita your step-grandma?
Duchin died in 51, his only child was 14
Amazing. Have you had fun researching him?
This is lovely ❤
Homenaje a Eddy ,Duchin.
These old videos are truly time machines. Only wish I could stay and not come back.
AMEN!!!!!
Once you get past the roller skating, just sit back and listen to the *BEST* music you'll ever hear in a one-reel short!!!
And pray what is wrong with roller skates?
The roller skates were a visual gimmick in this film to the point of absurdity.
Muy otijina el baile. 🥰 hay mimaneras de divertirse. ✌️
Great, strong trumpet and beat. Good singing
Ha! Amazing - skill and talent overloaded. They had it all.
Great music. Thank you.
Fabulous!
Thank you Peter Mintun! Saw this on the big screen 📺 presented by Ron Hutchinson ( of blessed memory Vitaphone Project Co-Founder). 🎶
Maestro Eddy Duchin, we will keep you in our memory and hearts
1933 What a time to be alive!! :)
Well, if you were surviving the Great Depression, as most people were, YES.
Yes but no antibiotics
My mother went to see Eddie Duchin perform in Chicago. She said he was a great pianist and very handsome. 🎵🎹
Thank you so much for this gem - just wonderful.
Thanks! One of my all-time favorite shorts.
Have anyone ever seen the biopic with Tyrone Powers and Kim Novak? I saw half of it last year.
Hi! Yes, I have this movie and I watch it often. I love it so much! Mr. Power as Mr. Duchin was perfect! 👏
Carmen Cavallero played the piano for Tyrone Power but how did Tyrone learn all the finger placements?!
Love it - wish I could have seen so much of the 1920's and 1930's New York musical scene, sadly, I was born in 1956!
I agree with you. I was born in 1953.
I was born in 1952.
A bit hilarious to see Sylvia mentioning that "one of [her] old favorites" is Lullaby of the Leaves... when the song was only 1 year old at the time.
Wonderful time to be a hard core smoker.
Yeah, the whole video is like another world 90 years ago.
Absolutely fantastic !!!!!!!!
The twilight zone brought me here. The episode "A man's fancy" mentioned Eddie Duchin.
"Young Man's Fancy", by Richard Matheson. By the way, Eddie never recorded "The Lady In Red".
que fantatico, que original, eddy duchin un genio
Buendía Eddy Dchin.
Precursor to the 1956, Eddie Duchin story⁉️🤗💕
This has a bit of everything in it, all up in the atmospheric nicotine clouds.
The rolling skating trio is good.
Thanks, I love Sylvia.
Watching Duchin play, i wonder if Liberace borrowed some of his hand-raising pyrotechnics?
No doubt.
Cute...Pre-Roller Disco...our Grandparents, style...Eddy Duchin was rather 'Hot', or handsome in his way....
Sylvia Froos has got some nice moves.
Interesting to see the second grand piano tucked away in the right corner.
The band line up was interesting, 4 pc rhythm section (including piano), 3 pc reed, 2 pc bass, violin, and Eddie Duchin.
I DONT RECALL MISS FROOS. BUT SHE CERTAINLY HAD SPIRIT.
Great sophisticated fox-trot dance band. Similar to several British bands of the period.
Imagine the arthritis as they all aged. You take the opportunity to throw yourself around while you can because you're soon old and soon past it.

The title is at the beginning of the film.
The date of release is in the description.
This is a Vitaphone "Melody Master" short- a series of one-reel musical "interludes" featuring name bands, produced during the 1930's and '40s.
Он даже красивее Тайрона Пауэра.
Those are some impressive octaves. Lhevinne would've been proud.
From the film we can see he was a great guy, but the movie of his life with Tyrone Power was a rather melancholy affair. Very sad, too heavy.
😲 😲 😲 😃❗️ 👏🏻 👏🏻 👍🏻 🤗
Shadow Waltz
Originally featured in "Gold Diggers of 1933".
Is this the only movie footage we have of the actual eddy duchin?
Duchin appeared as a celebrity pianist-bandleader in other movies, including "Coronado" (1935).
This is like a live action Betty Boop cartoon. Maybe with a bouncing ball thrown in.
from this video you would think eddie could hardly play! god he's was a great and this video does not showcase him at all
Oh, indeed he *could* ! He succeeded Leo Reisman as THE "society dance orchestra" of the 1930's.
Carmen.
Es original no es La Película.
Twilight Zone brought me here.
Es. Biografía. 😂
Are they alive now?
Doubtful, considering when Duchin died in 56 he was 40, anyone in this clip in their 20s would be over 100 years old now.
