OMG!!! Love Motown!!! You’re so right! They don’t have music like that anymore!!! Four Tops, Temptations, and so many more!! Thank you so much for reacting to this good stuff!! I’m game for more!!
My mama’s favorite & she said my daddy’s when he was young. Some many great artists & music. My grandpa owned a gas station and I worked for him from 13-17 years old. When I decided to get a real job, I still ran a cash register for a local convenient store chain. My cousin ran the food section with me. This guy came in & she told me to ask him where Diana was. After I asked him, he said, I don’t know where she is right now but, “Someday we’ll be together.” After he left out & my cousin told me that this guy told everyone that he was Diana Ross’ ex-boyfriend & that he always use the name of the Supremes song “Someday we’ll be together.” as the answer to that question. Lol. Great Motown songs: ANYTHING by Marvin Gaye or Diana Ross & the Supremes. Not sure if these artists are Motown but Al Green ( How do you mend a broken heart?), The Staple Singers (I’ll take you there”) & probably one of my artists of ALL time Otis Redding. I know he wasn’t with Motown but he was such a talent. Singer & songwriter”I’ve been loving you too long “ is absolute favorite.
Motown is right there with "Classic Rock" as far as great music is concerned, and they were both big at the same time. Same as classic rock, Motown, named Motown (Motor-Town) because it was born in Detroit Michigan, Home of Ford, Chevrolet, and Chrysler, automobile corporations. WE had the best of both worlds. Motown's R&B (Rhythm and Blues) and Rock and Roll. From about 1963 to the late 1970s, music was at it's best, before it started to decline into the "Disco era, and it's never been the same since. Thanks for giving Motown some credit.
This was out when I was in 7th grade. I love Motown. Yes that was some years ago. Thank you for sharing it with us................ :-) Supremes, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye and the Marvalettes, Diana Ross
This is cool but Motown was designed to capture a broad(white audience). On this fourth of July may I suggest the Founding fathers of Funk. James Brown "Mother Popcorn" , Curtis Mayfield "Superfly" , Sly and Family Stone "Thank You"(Falettme Be Mice Elf Again) The song that gave birth to the slap bass), Parliament Funkadelic "P.Funk Wants To Get Funked Up". As far as Motown Mondays, might you consider Friday founding fathers of Funk!!
classic! However if you listen to the lyrics it kind of sounds like a song about stalking ... turn around i'll be there to comfort you ... like he's following her everywhere hahaha ok maybe i watch too many horror stories :P
This song isn't about stalking. I mean damn! Know it all millennials who know absolutely nothing. Contrary to popular notions there are men who don't stalk nor rape women. Get a life. Stop sniffing glue.
Levi Stubbs.....one of the greatest voices God ever produced.....PERIOD!!!!
Real Talk !
Classic Motown music. Thanks Barry and the entire Motown artists for such great memories.

The Four Tops on the HY LIT SHOW. Hope you watch live versions too. Certain shows back then artists had to lip sync due to the show's budget.
