    Not sure if you posted a follow-up video, but interested to hear about your results. I used to do small batch all grain and then bought a Pinter 1 and 2. Tried a bunch of their beers, but none of them have blown me away. Thinking of going back to all grain and using Pinter 2. Great videos by the way. All the best.

    Cool use of a Pinter. It should come out well. A few ideas for future brews: If you used tap water then a sprinkle of campden powder gets rid of the chlorine. I also add a pinch of salt. Put lid on saucepan and wrap with a big towel to keep at 66C. You can get cheap iodine kits to do a starch / sugar test after mash. Some brews need 90 mins. You don't need to rehydrate dry yeast, it's a myth, pitch straight to wort. Also I remember a previous ferment under pressure device that suggested using a tiny drop of olive oil in the fermenter as a nutrient. Looking forward to taste test.

      All great advice, thanks!
      I think I might go down the route of buying 2 x 5L spring water, as makes it easier/quicker for me :)
      I read not to keep lid on, but think this was perhaps for the boil as you are boiling off the unwanted elements, so yep leaving on for the mash makes sense.
      Agree with you there, I don't always hydrate yeast as don't see much of a difference apart from activation time being a few hours slower on dry versus hydrated.
      Never heard of olive oil before, interesting, might have to give that a try with the next brew in a bag I do next month.

    Very interesting video I've been interested in the BIAB method for some time and now I have the Pinter1 it seem like a good way of trying it out - I hope that this BIAB method will mmm get rid of the Home Brewing tinge that Extract Brewing always tastes to me (Tom Caxton days remembered) - my last Pinter brew was the Weiss Nights wheat beer not bad did drink all of it so can't complain - my new brew put down on Sunday is 'Von Tap' will be interesting if this has the HB tinge cos the wheat beer tends to mask it - I'm getting to like Wheat beers been trying them out at my locals anyway thanks for you presentation efforts much appreciated
    Oh! what were your conclusions on your BIAB beer...joe

      @TravelandBrews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Joe. I do think extract brewing does seem to come with that homebrew twang, esp in the more lighter/golden beers.
      Wheat beers will do a good job of hiding that, much like no alcohol wheat beers have more body than a lager no alcohol would have.
      Im looking to do a few more of the BIABs. The only thing to improve on would be clarity of the beer which I would want to get less hazy on the next attempt, and have a few options to look into.

    We started our own recipe extract brew with speciality grains last Sunday in a Pinter.
    Be interested to see how yours progresses, ours is a German style Wheat Beer.

      Perfect time for a wheat beer (well if the rain stops and the sun comes out to play for a bit)
      I've released the pressure tonight, and it smelt very nice. May do a test pour tomorrow to see how clear it is, and decide whether to wait another 24-48hrs

    Great video again.
    It seems a lot of faff for 8 pints.
    I’ll be interested to know if you think the extra effort is worth it in comparison to the Pinter fresh press.

    • @TravelandBrews
      @TravelandBrews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does require more time but i did enjoy doing it and will be doing some more. But will still be buying fresh presses as they are super quick to make and come out very good.
      It is possible to build your own recipe and buy the grains and hops, and it would come out much cheaper than a fresh press from the Pinter. But then that does all require time and perhaps buying in bigger quantities than you require. Also you could scale up to 40 pints....but i would only do that if you create an amazing beer like space hopper 😁

      I’m doing a one day brewing course in Bakewell in October which is based around all grain 40 pints.
      My thinking is that it’ll give me an idea of the process and whether I enjoy doing it before I buy a load more equipment.
      In the meantime I’ll carry on with experimenting with the Pinter. I’m doing an Uplands Social with a hop tea of chinook and citrus atm.
      Have you any plans of doing a Pinter video with a fruit juice addition?

      Sounds good. Done a brew day myself a couple of years back and enjoyed it!
      Im not doing a fruit juice addition but am currently attempting my own elderflower cider with shop bought apple juice.

    Interesting video - thank you. I see that Brewstore has a NEIPA kit. I know that NEIPAs are notoriously sensitive to oxidation when you move the brew from vessel to vessel. I would imagine that the Pinter avoids this issue. Have you tried or are you planning to try a NEIPA brew in the bag kit?

    • @TravelandBrews
      @TravelandBrews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't picked up a NEIPA, but it's currently one on my radar.
      I would say the all in one vessel certainly would reduce moving the beer between vessels, but as a NEIPA you would be looking to dry hop it.
      I did a Hop Tea instead of a dry hop in the Pinter before, and it worked a treat, adding those punchy hop flavours to the beer like you would get via dry hopping, meaning it could be possible to do it this way, and limit any oxygen getting to the beer.

    Wanted to ask if there are any recipes or other non-Pinter brewing packs you can use with the Pinter? I want to try and brew something in my Pinter other than the packs they offer. Keep up the great work! I am currently conditioning my Public House IPA with added spray malt after watching your vid!

      Pack wise most are too big for the Pinter.
      Mr Beer kits on Brew2Bottle for £9. They make 8.5L normally but could brew short for higher ABV or if you have two Pinters put half a can in each and top up with some brew enhancer to get the desired abv for 5.5L in the Pinter.
      Otherwise Brewferm does 9-12l kits, then after that it's the larger 40pint kits..
