Yes, like many others on here thank you for the very thorough explanation of how to apply bleach to hair in the most natural, subtle, and least damaging way that I've seen so far. I'm not a natural blond but what to try this myself and can't afford to pay a professional, I simply don't make enough money for this high-end, on-trend hair procedure. Though the video quality is not the best this IS one of the most subtle and natural looking balayage techniques that I've seen, exactly what I"m seeking. I do not want stark blond or too much contrast, I think this may possibly be my go-to for hiding those pesky grays coming in also. Thank you!

Which do you really think is best, especially for someone who is not a professional, the comb, or the paddle brush? Both looked beautiful from afar, and my problem is how to do the very top layer.

The brush on can look a little more diffused, giving a more blended effect. Thank you

You can wash it or change brushes/combs...

Do you recommend just going in with a 40 volume or gradually lighten the hair? I've had my hair ombré before and the girl who did it went straight in with a 60 vol and my hair felt like a corn husk doll I'm scared that will happen again. Also, this is the best tutorial I've seen for this technique!

If your hair is compromised I would gradually lighten the hair. The health of your hair is most important.

what does the aveda color viscosity add to the mix? I'm not wanting to order a $20+ bottle to dye my hair one time unless it's completely necessary. Plus I'm excited and want to buy my materials and do it tonight.
*also my hair is a natural auburn w/no previous dye, am I going to need a toner & a 40 volume to get the blond without copper?

You parted the hair in the middle for the front. If I part my hair to the side, should I section it off that way? Also, my hair is to my neck. It's growing out from a bob style cut. I'm guessing id section it off the way you have for the back. I'm doing this myself. DIY'er lol. Thanks :)

Hey wondering if you could do a video on the ponytail ombre bleaching process that you done but then how to change that bleached to colour and not affect the dark area of the hair. Cool technique. It seems like it would be good for a service upgrade. Except, are you positive the hair won't break off, even though you're combing lightener in the hair over and over again.

Thank you. The hair will not break off. I have used this on my guests numerous times and achieved great results. Great question though!

+Jose Rivera The comb on Balayage will give you more of a dramatic look. I still believe you need to use 30 or 40 vol with this technique.

hey, i loved this video it was so helpful!! i have a few questions though, say I dyed my hair from black to dark brown first, then I wanted to do light brown ash balayage on top of that, would this technique still work? i seee that the mannequins hair went to a blonde, but im guessing thats because it's hair is much lighter? any tips would be appreciated :)

Hi and thank you so much! The mannequin's hair did start off lighter, and was not previously colored. You can still use this technique, it may not be as light and you will need a toner to make your desired end result more ashy. I'm almost positive you will get a warmer tone after you have processed this on your hair with having color on your hair already. I hope that helps.

Great question... Yes you can. You would just need to make sure you use 40 vol developer. You may not get super light if you are going over color that was just pulled through to your ends. It will be pretty though.
